    Tip of the day, 10-20 minutes, under 45.00 and still keeps the bypass fully functional. Part number STL010 for the win.

    Thank you, the boiling water visual just proved my mental theory that this dumb thing could ruin my trans! Doing the mod this weekend!

    I wouldn’t mind seeing a video of a tranny drain and fill using that spare thermostat block if you don’t mind. Pretty slick idea, sir!

    just order Superior Part # STL010 its patent pending tech keeps the bypass dynamically active and full flowing for any climate, can you tell your viewers why NOT to Plug the bypass in COLD CLIMATES...that may be something you may want to touch on too.

    Why doesn’t Superior Products sell a bypass for the Silverado/Sierra 2014-2015 8L90?

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  6 місяців тому +1

      Superior told me that if your 8L90 has a bypass block then their product will work. Most 2014 and 2015 do not have the bypass block.

    Thank you for your videos man very helpful! Can you do transmission fluid change with thermostat deleted or need to reverse for fluid change?

  • @michaelclark6506
    @michaelclark6506 3 роки тому +1

    Aside from the fluid temp what is the reason for the delete with that keep my torque converter from going out or is there something else I can do to prevent my converter from going out ? I have 2015 5.3 6 speed with 45,000 miles

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  3 роки тому +2

      The thermostat is simply to let the fluid get to operating temp sooner, the problem is if it sticks it can cause the temp to increase because the fluid isn't going through the cooler. High temps will usually kill the transmission before the converter.

    • @29auto30
      @29auto30 3 роки тому +1

      The only way to keep your torque converter from going bad is to have someone to do a trans tune

  • @jakes197

    so flipping it isn't as good as tapping it ? from what i understand is you want the thermostat in place the correct way in colder climates .. so being able to reverse it is a good idea . tapping can't be reversed

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  3 роки тому

      Remember that most transmissions don't have any kind of thermostat so people who want to delete the thermostat probably are not worried about cold climates.

      @@737mechanic thanks good point . i going to do the flip tomorrow . i just had my trans rebuilt 1000 miles ago and it just heated up to 245 while pullling my camper i've gotta do something asap

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  3 роки тому

      @@jakes197 Let me know if flipping it helped, the reason I would like to know is if either of these actually helps, is if the thermostat is working it should be fully open before 245 so whether you flip it or tap it I wouldn't think it would help it cool. Only if the thermostat is stuck closed would I think it would help by tapping it or flipping it.

      @@737mechanic ok will do i know 1000s of ppl have done the flip method. and those temps were a one time thing for about 10 minutes, backing up the truck quite a distance with no airflow in 80 degree weather . going forward i never have a problem

      @@737mechanic you know what you are right.. all those people who flipped it are going to be in trouble if the fluid reaches 190° because the thermostat is going to block the fluid instead of let it flow.. I am glad i already ordered some kinda kit that was made to delete it

    Those aren’t just “regular o-rings” they’re special o-rings. Put regular rubber ones back on it and see what happens. Cheaping out and flipping that pellet is going to cost you a transmission if a line gets kinked or something gets plugged because you’re deleting the bypass function. Stop making videos for gods sake.

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  3 місяці тому

      So making the transmission cooling system the way all cars and trucks have been since the 50's scares you? Regular nitrile orings are oil and transmission fluid compatable. Sounds like it's not for you. Start making videos for God sake.
      BTW I have 40k miles on it since this video with no problems.

    • @ngirardo86
      @ngirardo86 3 місяці тому

      @@737mechanic learn to read and comprehend. I said IF A LINE KETS KINKED OR SOMETHING PLUGS then you are going to destroy that transmission I didn’t say you’re going to have problems as soon as you do this. If you wouldn’t have been so cheap and bout the actual bypass kit for under $40 you would have kept the bypass function that you no longer have. Furthermore you tapped the housing when you didn’t even need to if you want to do it your way the idiot way. All you had to do was flip the pellet around smart guy. Screw your own stuff up just don’t post videos about it. Also you should tell people that if they live in cold climates that if they don’t use a quality oil that remains fluid past -10 which amsoil remains fluid up to -85 then they’re going to have a serious problem. But you already knew that right chief? Smh.
