    Sigh... Having worked with carbon fiber, it really bothers me to see how inaccurate people's belief is on this material. Its main advantage is its structure resistance (how well it bends) to weight ratio. Its really easy to cut/dull/wear/grind with any kind of friction abuse. I'd add that Corridor should really REALLY vent and clean the room they grinded in, carbon fiber is even worse than asbestose! PLEASE do not use this knife to eat anything either!

    • @AdventureTechnologies
      @AdventureTechnologies 7 років тому +39

      Carbon fiber the fabric is not dangerous because its made 90% out of polyacrylonitrile, but can be irritating. The resin used to make a part in dust for is a carcinogen, which is why it can be as bad as asbestos, but there is no research saying it is worse.

    • @MrMethanos
      @MrMethanos 7 років тому +31

      True. I was cutting corners (sorry, English isn't my mother tongue) the most dangerous part is the resin not the fabric. Still, in doubt, I wouldn't play around it too much. It took 30 years to accept asbestos as carcinogen. Carbon fiber components are rather new in comparison.

    +1 for Ender's Game. Orson Scott Card is a fantastic author. Personally, my favorite book in that series is Ender's Shadow, which is the same story as Ender's Game, but told from one of Ender's lieutenant's perspective. Bean is by far my favorite character in the stories and his perspective is so unique to anything I had read before that I immediately was absorbed in his development as both a soldier and a friend.

      Cwip Productions here proof from google For cutting many carbon fiber veneer sheets, we recommend the use of carbide tools, abrasive type cutters, or diamond crusted tools. Regular steel tools will cut carbon sheets just fine, but due to the abrasive nature of all carbon sheets, standard tools will wear down fast with heavy cutting use.

    I don't understand how people justify what they did when they do things like what jake did to wren at 9:05. It's your property and you can tell he didn't want it to happen. When you do that you're just simply being an ass. He even said his wife was looking for those. I know it's a plastic container, and jake may have offered to buy him new ones. But still it's just an inconvenience to get a new one.

    Why not just buy already lamianted sheet of carbon fiber?
    Or If you're laminating it yourself, why not shape knife in this process?

    • @10-AMPM-01

      Because laying fiber sheets into a knife shape is literally the hardest way to do it. You'd have to line up 12 layers of bias oriented sheets of fiber (each layer must be oriented at symmetrical increments, usually 0, 45, 90, 45, 0, 45, 90, depending on the type of weave the cloth has). Carbon fiber sheets aren't easy to cut without a machine, or before cured in resin. Using direct fiber placement would help, but the machine would cost tens of thousands of dollars. Using a factory "laminated" sheet would work, but that's exactly what they made. A factory would use vacuum bags, peel ply, breather cloth, and a metal plate as a mold. So yes, they laminated the layers themselves.

    Really enjoyed Ender's Game. Really good book, with great thought put into it, and more drama/character evolution than I expect from a good sci fi book, without overpowering it.
    Did not enjoy the sequel as much; after a while, I dropped the series (maybe the 3rd or 4th book, I don't remember). But I really, really enjoyed the first book.
