    I own one of these. Incredibly fast, and OMG it is so smooth. 0-60 in the blink of an eye and capable of obscene top speed. The only difference is mine says 'Hayabusa' on the side.

    Interesting Mark. Reminds me of the wind up toys we got as kids in the 70s. They did not last too long but were plenty fun. I'm sorry but I built and researched electric vehicles in the 90s, cars, bikes, trucks, etc. and I left the whole thing after I convinced myself it is a waste of time and money. Yes they improved batteries since the 90s in terms of immediate performance to weight but it is exactly where the nasties hit the fan. No thank you for me. Do they have diesel bikes?

    • @ibsn87
      @ibsn87 4 місяці тому

      I love people comparing things to the 90’s. What a dinosaur thing to do. So so much has changed. SO much. Since the 90’s there has been a 3 fold increase in capacity from 200wh to 700wh per liter of battery. The price has declined as much as 97% in the last 3 decades. Both are still trending in reduced cost and increased capacity.
      Let’s be clear this is a cheap run about. This is not a touring bike not a long distance cruiser. For a small commuter, zero maintenance, zero stopping on the way to work for fuel, zero oil changes, zero filter changes, a lot of these are belt driven, so often no chain maintenance, not sweating your balls off on a hot summer day with 100 degree radiator air blowing up your ass, no noise is a wonderful thing for early morning starts and Incredibly peaceful for cruising around and riding with friends. Cheaper rego in various places around the world. No clutches to worry about. And - not that fuel is a big ticket item for motorbikes but, close to zero running costs.
      Maybe just install a big ass horn to make up for the stealth factor, and buy a higher visibility jacket which every responsible motorbike rider should wear if they value 4 limbs operating.

    Good wee bike for local transport but crazy price for what it is (same with almost all ev's).
    I suspect most countries will class it as a bicycle with no requirement for licence, tax or insurance.
    But not the UK with our "mummy knows best" attitude.
    At present I would have no faith in the company existing in 5 years time. China has huge economic problems and the 3rd largest electric car maker (serving domestic market only) has just disappeared from the market. It has not gone bust, it has just stopped all contact with the outside world and shut off the cars apps leaving owners in the lurch.
    PS I suspect the speedo is in kph (and optimistic at that)

    That seat will bring down the Chalfonts. Otherwise this is a good use of an electric motor. Short range lightweight blipping about. Too expensive by 50%.

  • @Ijusthopeitsquick
    @Ijusthopeitsquick 10 місяців тому +3

    With twice the range and three times the power this would be tempting, but as a town commuter or green lane toy it is too expensive. Unfortunately today's batteries don't have the energy density to replace ICE in general purpose motorbikes.

    Mark, as always a great review. However the whole EV gravy train is based on the myth of being green whereas the manufacturing process is anything but and the power produced to charge them is 50% from fossil fuels, mostly gas. To make any sense they will need to improved energy/power density of batteries and, rather more pressing, build the generating capacity to cope with the demand from EVs, heat pumps and whatever nonsense our mindless politicians dream up next.

    Looks fun. Seems reasonably priced for an EV in today's market, especially compared to a Surron. The range puts it firmly in the commuter bracket, for me, especially with more and more places considering emission charges a la ULEZ. And at some point we're all going to have to go electric anyway, whether we like it or not.

  • @ZoahPorre

    Thumbnail looked like some sort of ebike (didnt notice the lack of pedals) Its very skinny, but thats okay.
    3 hr charge time, probably closer to 6 in the US, since our voltage is half of yours..
    A range of only 90 miles leave something to be desired, but for a offroad style of riding, thats more than plenty.
    The seat... looks like it would turn me into a castrati.... lol, but with the range, and the offroad kinda aim of the bike, the rides aren't that long anyway so it should be fine.
    Very unique! Thanks for showing it off.

      An American plug should manage to charge in 3 hours still.
      It's a 4 KW battery so 3 hours is 1500w charging or so.
      Even 110/120v should manage that easy :)
