    Excellent work. Back in 1976 I took architectural drawing in high school. I designed two houses and built them in this same scale. Best way to learn how to build your own home.

    Wow! You do impressive work! The only thing that I could see that may not be 1/24'th scale was the headers over the doors and such. Now this could be due to the pictures! I retired from building house's and there were many times that if the architect had have given my crew one of these, then when they came and said "We don't want that, we want this, or let's change this(after we had built it!) I would have shown them just what they gave me! Blueprints are fantastic, however, architects are not! Them and designers gave me many head aches! Keep up your great work and I wish you many, many years of success!

    This is a very well done model. I am a carpenter and an advanced modeler with many years experience in both. You did a good job from both perspectives. You should build a couple 1/24 cars to stick in the garage. I think it would have been cool to leave some of the decking out so you could see into the basement.

    This guy is a real carpenter framing it exactly like you would a real house. I’m a carpenter also and likewise I built 2 miniature houses built exactly like I built real houses. The first one was in 1981, the second one was in 2010. Tedious but so much fun. The only thing this guy left out was rafter trussing and stiffbacks. But still an awesome job!

    I know this is from 4 years ago....but 3 years ago I worked on a house that had an attic similar to this: it as actually 2500 sq ft. After we had it all framed and the homeowners saw it, we were trying to convince them to do something with it to make it livable space. After spending $8 m on the house, they didn't want to spend the extra $200K to make it (even rough) usable space. It was massive. Easily 3x the size of the entire house I grew up in.
    Your model SO reminded me of that house.

    Hello, I just wanted to say that I really love your videos and find them very inspiring. By showing us the process of making your wonderful models, you're inspiring me to make some myself, I've always wanted to study architecture, but I ended up studying something else. However, i would still be happy if I could make models like these, and see my ideas come to life.
    I hope this won't trouble you, but I'd seriously appreciate it if you could make a video describing the tools and products/items you use to create these wonderful models. Like the type of foam and wood used, the stuff you used to create the brick wall, roof, etc. as well as the cutting tools and all.

      @TheMrFinneth  10 років тому +4

      Beyondw0rds Sorry for the late response. I'd do that for you but this was made in school with supplies that they gave us. The foam is rigid foam insulation, in various thicknesses. The wood is balsa wood. The glue is wood glue. We used pins to hold the wood while it dried. They gave us various types of saws. For the brick, we used a wood burner to make the grout lines and paint to make it look like brick. For the windows I cut plastic from packaging. For the grass we bought a roll of it, for the siding we used thin pieces of balsa wood and overlapped them like real siding. I've never built with these materials so I just improvised

    only thing missing is the rafters work ,.... and plumbing and electrical .... be nice to see that worked in and it would give and idea of what needs to be adjusted to allow for that part ... also i would use under the garage as a storage area .... instead of just leaving a hole surrounded with cement ... may as well use the space .... heck make a good hvac room even ... good in winter to keep teh garage warm as well
