  • www.r2fishschoo... An eight minute, uncut, real-time training session showing Comet, the world's smartest goldfish, doing his most popular tricks, including chimney, limbo, slalom, soccer, football and fetch. It is recorded from the Fish School webcam, so there isn't any sound, closeups or panning. But it gives a good idea of what fish training is like. Notice the use of the feeding wand, delivering food as positive reinforcement for each trick.
    To see more videos of Comet and other trained fish, visit www.fish-school.com, or check out www.r2fishschool.com to get the kit to train your own fish at home!

    Glad you liked the video. My son Kyle and I had fun making it. It shouldn't take too long for you goldfish to learn to follow the feeding wand around the tank, once it realizes food comes out of it! After that, training should proceed pretty quickly.
    Good Luck!

    The blue tube with the orange center is the "feeding wand" that comes with the R2 Fish School training kit. It is the key to the whole training process. And no - is isn't a normal straw so it doesn't need to be plugged with your finger.

    Getting the football off the 'ground' is pretty tough. To get Comet to do it, I held the tip of the wand right at the base of the football. But if worse comes to work, you can always have your fix 'run the ball' (push it along the surface of the playing field) rather than try to get him to get it into the air.
    Good luck!

    Could you tell me step by step how you trained them from day zero to the day of the recording? How long did it take you?

  • @dpomerleau
    @dpomerleau 16 років тому

    Yes, pretty much. I've trained several types of goldfish to do tricks, including both fancy and common varieties.

    It takes patience - often a few days before the fish will learn to associate the wand (or straw in your case) with food. We recommend feeding your fish less at regular mealtime to get them motivated, as described above.

    can anyone tell me how to make the feeding wand using a straw this is expensive!

  • @dpomerleau

    We use standard pellet food that we use to feed our fish. The key is to given them less food at regular mealtime, so they are hungry enough to be motivated by food at training time.

    'Baby' size pellets - to keep from filling up Comet with repeated trials.

    With the right tools and technique, virtually any fish can be trained to do at least some of the tricks show on the video. For details, visit our web site - listed in the 'more info' box at the top of this UA-cam page.

    Yes - definitely. I've trained Betta's myself. They can't do all the tricks, but the are pretty quick learners. In fact there are several UA-cam videos of bettas doing tricks.

    No - What I'm doing when I touch the table is picking up the next pellet of food to reward the fish with on the next trick.

    The thing I'm using to reward Comet is the "Feeding Wand" that comes with the R2 Fish School Training Kit. Click the "more info" link in the video description in the upper right corner to see the web page.

    @uknowitstrue92 Yes - I'm sorry you can't see it because its out of sight of the camera. What happens is Comet swims to the surface with the ring on his nose and I take it off with my fingers. Thanks for asking!

  • @dpomerleau
    @dpomerleau 16 років тому
