I have always loved and respected the Laurel. Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, you knew a rich person was driving by when you saw them in a Laurel. That changed when importing other luxury cars became easier.

I live in New Zealand where laurels, cefiros, skylines etc are really popular. And btw it's pronounced La-ral no Loren but that might just be your accent

Laurels and cefiros are quite common here in new zealand,mostly c32 and a31,but alot of the newer ones too

Absolutely LOVE the C33 Laurel, planning on buying one soon actually, here in Trinidad, we always had these and we have them in serious numbers, these are generally mostly used as taxi vehicles believe it or not, RB or otherwise.
If you like Laurels, the holy grail of all Laurels, and the one we all should want, the C35. Too awesome, if you're interested in seeing our local cars, of which there are many, search a hashtag on Facebook or IG and you'll find LOTS of Laurels and Cefiros, and even Cressidas and Chasers, JDM heaven down here lol #TriniSuperCars #Trinicarscene

@thatdudeinblue I live in the Caribbean and that laurel also the ciferos are like the most common cars in the island of trinidad also in the local drift scene here :) it's like a mini Japan over here in the Caribbean lol

I'm soooo glad to see you got a Laurel to experience. In my country they're everywhere so it just made me smile to know that you got one to drive in the U.S and you like it. I've driven a few and I had fun in every single one.
We've had these for years in NZ -sadly it means they're largely all hacked up into half baked "projects" and nowhere near as clean as this one. Its the same with Ceffy's which were the poor mans skyline for years (no its rare to find one in one piece).

For anyone wondering why the Laurel car was never offered in the US, it never would have passed side impact requirements for crash testing.

Always love these laurels growing up back in Trinidad. I remember my dad was trying to buy one but backed out of the deal. I still want one of these. The r32 skyline, a31 cefiro and this car are related. They have the same platform and run the same RB engines. Some laurels came with a 4 cylinder engine and some came with an RD28 diesel also

yo david,in my country (trinidad) we have alot of laurels and ceferos,in my country we call the laurel(c33/medalist/laurel) and the cefero(a31/cefero) ,we also have a couple drift groups (in my country we say drift crews) if you go on facebook and type dirty projects trinidad and 3d car car, you`ll see alot of ceferos,laurels and a couple of s chasis drifting

Ah, memories. Had one of these back in 1999 - same poo brown flock interior too, it really hasn't faded, that's what mine was like when it was only 7 years old. Wonderful car until I stacked it into a wall. Seriously ugly body kit on this one though - makes it look like it's wearing a dress.

I've seen a few here in the UK. There is even one on my town here in Wales. Although I always mix them up with the Toyota Chaser. I can't say though I ever woke up and said "I hope I see a Nissan Laurel today". I think it's one of those imports people don't fully understand yet....or don't even know exist

It's unique, which makes it cool. Pillarless is awesome too, but it seems the rear windows do not completely disappear in the doors, which is a shame. Think "supernatural" Impala. That hardtop sedan looks awesome with all the windows down!

i am so happy David decided to review this car. Those 10 minutes watching someone else enjoy the way the Laurel drives just brings so much joy to me because someone else is experiencing what i experience every day!
i run a Rb20Det out of the R32 in mine, with tein all around, and i dont have the fiberglass kit on mine, but its still loads of fun to drive here in Trinidad and Tobago, because we have a small island, the drifting scene is dominated by some of the most MAAADDDDD Laurels on the planet! Guaranteed!

Dj budz Most of the Silvia r32 r33 parts are interchangeable. Bar the shocks and rear dic brake. The laurel and cefiro are fully interchangeable.

We have here lots of that era cars like Sky's Cefiros, Cressidas etc. It looks kinda funny to see how people discover those great cars.
Laurel and cefiro's were mostly all ex taxi's in New Zealand... They also came in diesel in the laurel. The Cefiro also came in a factory 4WD form so basically it was a skyline GTS-4 in a Cefiro body

When I think of the name Laurel, I think of the TV show How to Get Away with Murder. Why didn't I knew about this car a long time ago? This would make a great JDM alternative to an Impala SS from 94-96.

I have a Laurel with LHD (something I can't explain) I only rescued it from a wastegarden. In order to rebuild it. Its engine was a CA18i I did some customizes. Haha I need improve it more 😂
Incase anyone was wondering, the ring or hook on the rear bumper is a loop from a bus/ subway in Japan.
