I have sympathy for Anna as she had never really knew the power of her own passions., as a result she dove in feet first as giddy as a girl. So many characters in this novel, so many layers. In the end it was really about Russia itself.
there are 800 pages in anna Karenina...not 600 and this production skipped passed most of those, just another Hollywood romp in period costume. (set brilliant, costumes brilliant, actors brilliant, love how you made trains a prominent feature,) however, the plot is completely lost... the book is about industrial encroachment in rural areas, about the role of women in 18century Russia (not just anna Karenina, but dolly and kitty ) the female characters so strong i belive they very much inspired Virginia Woolf's writing, it's about the abolition of serfdom and workers rights, it's about the futility of existence without work. it's about being part of an asphyxiating aristocratic society, about the meaning of life and our roll in that life. its about the barriers that are placed to stop us achieving .and much much more, it is not just about love .. please read anna Karenina if you want to know its true meaning
Have to read this novel again Gd I love Tolstoy
It’s a story unlike any other! Beautifully complex and full of heart, soul and spirit! If you have yet to read it, I highly recommend you do! ❤️
