  • I have made a Camera Stabilizer which is able to use for taking videos with small digital camera (about 300g) to Digital SLR (about 1,500g).
All parts can be separated for better portability.
This version (v7.4) is specially designed to achieve to be light for using with heavy digital SLR.
Even it is Lightweight (525g) but, it has enough rigidity and designed for easier and faster setting.
It is enable to operate in one hand and carry up to 2,300g total by changing the combination of ballasts.

Wow, I have nothing but respect for machinists. I had a small business laminating map books and I had a precious piece of the lamination machine that broke. (It's not like you can go around the corner and pick one up either). So the machinist in my little industrial section came over and looked at it and he said "I'll be right back". I was thinking maybe he could weld it together. When he came back in 20 minutes he had a completely new part and I cried I was so in joy and thanked him so much.

Very nice! Striking video with the black background and very good titles. All aluminum construction makes it as light as possible, and makes it easy to get a good finish. Most people (in the US) wouldn't go to the trouble of sanding and polishing. Looks very professional, which may be why some commenters think it's commercially made.

Absolutely one of the finest video’s and pieces of artwork I’ve seen on a DIY project! Everyone wish’s for the “blueprints” but they must appreciate the “trial and error” in design for themselves.

Great work on (1) the stabilizer and (2) the video of making the stabilizer. Really well done video (clear cut and easy to follow flow, music, editing, shot selection, etc, etc). You have set a high standard indeed.

How did you film the 360 rotation shot?

    • @chungdha
      @chungdha 11 років тому

FinnGlinkMovies don't think its a 3d model, I think he mounted something black and hang the stabiliser from something and rotated by hand as you don't see the actual top which could hide what is holding it.

      Matthieu 16:24-27

There are two kinds of DIY. First way, do fast, cheap, and it probably will not look so good but be totally functional. Second one, do as in the video, take the time to hunt down a good mix of components. You can buy inexpensive tools to do everything shown. He showed sawing the metal plate by hand. You can google around and find all those parts, you don't need a parts list, a kit, or even having him make you one. In one week you could have one of these.

Thats as steady as any steady cam can make a shot, especially without a glide arm. the fact that he made it himself is really the biggest deal of the video, not how steady it is.

I made an imitation of the first model and found the gimbal is not working freely. I used the same type of the gimbal that you used in all your model, but it seems working in your test shoot. I confused if I should continue with this gimbal assembly or change to u-joint. What do you think? I am using Canon 7D camera.

Your frame and paint job are beautiful. The footage is far from steady though. You need to refine the gimbal. Your frames rods may be sending vibrations through to the cam. Possibly a single frame shaft design may work better. I love the look though. Keep pluggin away.
