- Gettin a bit more melodic on the channel today! Don't worry, we're back to gurgles and growls on Sunday! But for now, lets get whisked away by Don Broco " One True Prince! I first saw these guys on tiktok, and I love the contrast of the lead singer, Rob Damiani and the drummer, Matt Donelly. The whole song has the soothing balance of post rock with the driving force and energy of pop rock. What a combo! This was a ton of fun to react to and analyze, so - let's get to it!

That's the thing with Don Broco, they are so diverse. This is the first song they've done with that Deftones vibe. They used to lean more towards pop rock so could totally tour with Panic At The Disco, but in their last two albums they've brought a heavier groove to their music and have toured with the likes of Periphery and Bring Me The Horizon. I think they do a really good job of taking inspiration from lots of different places and yeah, because they have two vocalists who compliment each other well, they make it their own. Technology and You Wanna Know are some of my faves if you want to listen to more. :)
I've never heard of this band until this video. Thanks for your input, about to dive into some new to me music
That key change at the end is easily one of the best moments in any song I’ve heard all year
The song has only been out a couple of months and it's already established itself as a "classic" in my books.
Aa a die hard fan (pun intended) of Don Broco since the very beginning, I very much enjoyed you breaking down Rob and Matts vocals, so thank you! Also fun fact because you made a great point at 7:40 about how he leads the chorus in with the lyrics "we're about to do amazing things", this is actually the entire reason they titled the album "Amazing Things" because they loved it so much.
They did a version of this with an Orchestra that I highly recommend checking out
It really does punch it up. A metal vibe + orchestra is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

Finally Don Broco are getting some love, they popped up on a "metal" playlist on spotfy a few years ago and i don't regret it, amazing band.
It is so interesting to hear how people come across Don Broco. They certainly started off as very much metal-inspired, with songs like Chemistry and Thug Workout. When they released the Big Fat Smile EP, they moved more towards a metal-inspired rock, which you can hear in Metalface and Do What We Do. By the time they released Priorities, they had left a lot of their "Metal" behind, but it was still some fantastic rock music. Don Broco have never done anything the same from album to album. From Big Fat Smile to Priorities to Automatic to Technology to Amazing Things, they have never sounded the same.
Check their orchestral version of this song. It sounds even better and so frkn epic
Oh yeah, that one is amazing!
Don broco are so good, also remind me of sleep token.
30 seconds to Mars/ Jared Leto vibes???
One of the best things to come out this year Amazing things is such a banger of an album and One True Prine is just so damn good. I'm so glad that I found Don Broco is one of my hidden gems of this year, and I am so excited that you checked this out🤘
Glad to see the boys getting some more love
I've never heard someone articulate so well why it is that I love Rob and Matt's voices together so much, until now. This sort of style was new for them for this album, but they did it really well imo. If you want to try something by them that also has an interesting combination of their voices, along with that emotional complexity you spoke of, I'd recommend Anaheim, Tightrope, How Are You Done With Existing? and Easter Sunday.
Also, I've seen a couple of people comment on how 'amazing things' is the album title, but I'd also like to add that this was originally a throwaway line written by Matt, the drummer, but interestingly Rob chose to keep it in, which I think really helps towards the humbling message of the song, of putting things into perspective. The fact that they then named the whole album after a throwaway line that they wouldn't have kept if they hadn't been writing together is somewhat poetic to me.
Anyway, loved this reaction/review, it was very informative and engaging ^^ I'd love to see more if you listen to don broco again
I love the fact that you touched on the line “we’re about to do amazing things”, Amazing Things is the name of the album 😁
Hell yeah!
I like your ending breakdown of how this band sounds like opening for Deftones or Panic. I definitely see that. Thanks for the video, I really liked this song. About to go check them out.
I loved this song enough....then the key change and I might have pooped a little😬😬😬
That key change is so good!
A wonderful suprise🖤 these guys and this song are fucking fantastic
Ya this is their most normal song in my opinion lol
I get the Chino connection in the airy vocals, but to me this sounds like something coming from 30 seconds to mars. Possibly I'm wrong, but reminded me of them.
I remember Don Broco toured with DGD and Hail the Sun and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen
love this video, was lovely learning more about the exact things I enjoy about this song!!
I genuinely would love to see you more Don Broco. I know they aren’t your “wheelhouse” (which for you is a bullshit term, you do everything) but they are so good at doing so many things and I think you’d have so much fun
Really love your content and how you deep dive in the techniques on the singing! Hope you could do a reaction to Caskets. There's a great vocal performance video off their song Lost In Echoes
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like it! I've been loving spreading my wings a little bit - I'll check out Caskets!
I could not remember the name of this song. I did watch this video before. I had to come back to get the name, and ended up rewatching your video.
Mark picture it! This band and Spiritbox on tour together
You should check out Vitriol - Sun Named Moon Vocal Playthrough. Kyle Rassmussen is a BEAST of a Vocalist.
That's a sweet space helmet
def deftones vibes
My favourite band! So glad you decided to do one of their songs.
Glad I'm not the only one that hears deftones
Nekrogoblikon with the singer as a co reaction would be amazing
you should react to their song Bruce Willis
9:16-9:25 was very helpful in understanding “weight” of the sound. I initially think that the change in sound is due to something you’re doing in your throat, but it’s all coming from the shape of your mouth.
I love you videos please please do ick farewell to flesh.
Also song sounds like 30 seconds to Mars
I actually never realised the whole deftones vibe... i always thought it was oddly familiar.
Interesting timing as I just got a notification for these folks on Bandcamp. Also I was the 69th like...very nice.
Besides the breathy technique there are obvious effects on the intro/verse vocals that give them that Chino vibe. Would love any input as to what they may be?
You gotta listen to some Landmvrks !!!
You gotta talk about Until We Die - "King of the Dead". Niko is such an underrated vocalist and song writer
Eskimo call boy just dropped their new song pump it and it’s actually fantastic like the last three so fun and super heavy at parts pls do a reaction to this one
Checkout Affiance, they got a new song called the Line
I discovered this band throughout reaction videos and they are always fun to listen and watch to!
Been sooooo obsessed with don broco for the past week or two…… they are seriously genius 🥺
what song plays at the beginning of the video?
It's our very own Kardavox Academy theme!
@@KardavoxAcademy you should upload it to youtube! that is sick
architects pls
I think it would be really interesting if you were to do an analysis of corey taylors vocals back during the iowa days when he was super bad about vocal health
Please react to HammerFall’s brand new song! ”Hammer Of Dawn” everything about that song is perfect! And the singer is so good! for being 51!
