- We head off on a rainy bush walk. Not too heavy, just the right amount. It’s probably our favourite kind of weather for a bush walk. The dogs especially love it.
Lots of things to sniff, lots of space to run. We stop and chat about the pack howls to answer a couple of questions from viewers about why and who and when.
There’s a couple of incidents in the big paddock. I’m sharing them on purpose. Anything that isn’t perfect attracts comments, but for those that are genuinely interested in dog behaviour, pack dynamics, relationship development I’m sharing. It’s not even that much. But each incident tells a story about relationship status between members.
Cruiser sees an opportunity to test the big man himself Rosco, Rosco reminds Cruiser who’s the boss. Rover plays cat and mouse with Rosco and loves when he’s the cat but can’t handle being the mouse, Chopper sees an opportunity to remind Cruiser he’s not a pushover anymore. Lily likes to keep the big guy Rosco in check.
After lunch we get the kittens out for some doggy socialisation. Tank and Chopper are up first. The boys are gentle and good, but definitely not sure about what these little furry creatures are. Then it’s the Shepherds. It’s no surprise they’re very relaxed and offer lots of gentle licks to the kittens. The trio were brought up raising puppies for a good part of their early life. They’re very used to little fluffys climbing over them and hanging off their coats. Even Lily gives them kisses. Shepherds can be very nurturing.
Speaking of nurturing, Evie is in heaven at home at the moment. She gets up extra early every morning and serves the cats and kittens their breakfast, lunch and dinner. Often on a serving tray. She has also been getting the kittens out for lots of socialisation time in the main areas of the house (in their playpen). Handling them, especially the less outgoing, extra cuddles for them. She puts on Disney movies for them. Aristocats and Finding Dory are amongst their favourites. Mumma Moo Moo thinks it’s wonderful, she sits on the lounge back and gets a break whilst overseeing.
There’s so much going on, as always but more so with the cat population so high. Dogs and cats and kittens and a dingo and a Maligator! 😂 … I will try to do a video on the inside house dynamics soon/next.
