My female Boerboel is the Hound type and a very loving addition to our family. Her abilitites of guarding are quite impressive & she shows signs of very high intelligence often. She is my first of this breed & I have to say I am extremely impressed. I think I shall always own a Boerboel for the remainder of my life!

We had an bordeaux dogge 150lbs, which passed away, a few months ago, after nine years of pleasure beeing beside him. And due to the lag of bordeaux dogge breeds in germany, we think about an boerboel or cane corso as our next family dog. Life just sucks without such an lovingly gentle giant around.

Might be worth looking into a Boerboel/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. It would easily tick all your boxes. I had one as an unintentional nanny when I was a kid growing up on a farm in Africa. The mix is fairly common over here since the Ridgeback adds ease of training. They tend to keep the general build and since both are guardian breeds they keep that as well

This is my first time owning a Boerboel but I'm happy with my choice. I have a 7 month old female Boerboel puppy and I have never had a puppy this calm and confident before. She can be a little stubborn but she's very smart, accepts her training and knows who the boss is. This is my last puppy considering I'm 64 years old but I'm very happy that I decided to make my last puppy a boerboel.

The tail docking is purely cosmetic in my opinion. Although historically the story goes that it keeps baboons from being able to grab the tail and control the dog in a fight.
How long do boerboels take to finish growing and packing the weight on I'm feeding my boerboel properly everyday since birth and his only at 47 kg and his almost a year should I be concerned because I kinda am?
They should max out around 3 years old. You don’t have to worry about trying to make them get bigger faster. The size will come in due time. It’s all in the genetics!
I love big dogs! If I were younger, I'd have the mastiff type boerboel! But I am too old to trying to train a big boy like that. Too much energy for an old arthritic grandma! If they had a senior at a reacue, they'd come live a quiet life with me!

I love Boerboels. But I have never heard of different types of Boerboels. I do know that some Boerboels like all breeds, can look different because of genetics, good and bad breeding, Diets, and abnormalities. But this is the only time I have heard anyone mention different types of Boerboel. I'll do more research.
I could do with some advice please? I have just adopted a four year old mastiff type boerboel and as a very small woman am terrified of introducing him to my family and my small granddaughter. He lived with a family for the first two and a half years but as he got “too big” he was kept behind a gate. He was then rehomed for the last 18 months with a lovely man who unfortunately has limited mobility so wasn’t socialised very well. He’s an absolute baby with me but is very reactive to anybody who comes to my home. I tried to introduce him to my neighbour this morning and it went really well with him gently taking treats from him until he suddenly lunged at him. I have a gate to put him out of the way if anyone does come to the door but he barks very aggressively until the persons gone. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Oh also, he doesn’t react to people when we’re out for a walk, it’s just when they’re at my door.

@@ExoticBoerboels weeeeell...yes but also I'm not a fan of most toy breeds. At least in modern form/standards. The old sized pomeranian sounds like a cool smaller dog though. Or the original native dog the chihuahua was developed from. About twice the size of a modern large chihuahua. I've noticed size breed causes alot of issues either with health or temperments.

Mine just passed away a few months ago, I couldn't agree with you more that they are the best dog breed in the world. I will never want a different type after now having a barbola. My Dakota passed away after 11 long years. There is not enough I can say that can describe the amount of love I have for this breed and for my Dakota she will be missed.
Boerboels are special. We invest our love and care to our dogs. It's hard to lose our best buddy however we can always look back to the good memories that we spent together and that's priceless ❤😊🙏
Of the different types what one is best for a active lifestyle, as far as hiking camping etc? My corso is getting up there in years, and I'm starting to do my research now, this breed has peaked my interest.
I have a boarboel female brindle. She can be very shy, but she is always on guard regardless. I am trying to build her social skills but since she is a year and 2 months old now, it has not been easy. I have taught her how to seat and where to poop in the compound.

Im from south african we only knw two type which is speed type and the power type. Thats what we knw from way back these knew type are just added in the few past years. I dont consider them as the original two type

Boerboel never had types, bcz every details you see on a BOERBOEL is a result of what each breeder is looking for his Boerboels to look like. So they choose parents wisely to produce puppies that have details that is following the phenotype he is looking but it must be according to the Boerboel standard. The head, the Bones, the size, the masculs everything you want. Is the results of what the breeder is developing by putting a male and female together following the genotype. In everything blood of a BOERBOEL there is All the details you need according his ancestors. A short Boerboel can give you something tall puppies or a tall Boerboel can give you some short puppies. I emailed the guy out of South Africa. His name is Johan Svart probably the wrong spelling, but anyway he’s all over UA-cam lives in South Africa and seems to know what he’s talking about and he’s on the same page as you with regards to there is not four different types of this breed. So I have a question. I’m in Canada if I was to look for a true representation, how would I start?
For everybody who want this dog they need big yard or open space & regular exercise otherwise they can turn really destructive. They also eat alot my two go through 40 plus kgs abt 90 pounds of kibble in 3 weeks. They are very easy to groom so a bath, brush even once a month will do. They can have many bone problems e.g hip dysplasia, knee problems, bone cancers because of their weight so make sure to give a good glucosamine & chondroitin supplement. They are the best dogs to own & very kid friendly.
They are all relevant. The best dog for me may not be the best for you. It all depends on what your plans and intended use for the dog is. Hope this helps.
I've seen some that I call the Saint Bernard type!!! He didn't mention that type!!! I've noticed the different characteristics of other breeds in the breed of the Boerboel!!! That black mask that some of them have comes from the hound dog family!!! But I love that black mask!!!
I have had pitbulls in the past used to just train them the way I know I really want a boerboel now have 2 young kids but the more videos I watch the more divisive I get because of how they talking about you have to be very well experienced in dogs to own 1 etc

They best way to start is introduced him to a proper training. The magic happens there ❤🙏

There are multiple factors affecting such results. We can only conclude if we have all the necessary data needed💯.
Boerboel are awesome, but i think im still leaning towards a cap de fila de sao miguel for my next pup. Also known as rhe st miguel cattledog.

@@ExoticBoerboels weeeeell...yes but also I'm not a fan of most toy breeds. At least in modern form/standards. The old sized pomeranian sounds like a cool smaller dog though. Or the original native dog the chihuahua was developed from. About twice the size of a modern large chihuahua. I've noticed size breed causes alot of issues either with health or temperments.

Mine just passed away a few months ago, I couldn't agree with you more that they are the best dog breed in the world. I will never want a different type after now having a barbola. My Dakota passed away after 11 long years. There is not enough I can say that can describe the amount of love I have for this breed and for my Dakota she will be missed.
Boerboels are special. We invest our love and care to our dogs. It's hard to lose our best buddy however we can always look back to the good memories that we spent together and that's priceless ❤😊🙏

Of the different types what one is best for a active lifestyle, as far as hiking camping etc? My corso is getting up there in years, and I'm starting to do my research now, this breed has peaked my interest.

I have a boarboel female brindle. She can be very shy, but she is always on guard regardless. I am trying to build her social skills but since she is a year and 2 months old now, it has not been easy. I have taught her how to seat and where to poop in the compound.

Im from south african we only knw two type which is speed type and the power type. Thats what we knw from way back these knew type are just added in the few past years. I dont consider them as the original two type

Boerboel never had types, bcz every details you see on a BOERBOEL is a result of what each breeder is looking for his Boerboels to look like.
So they choose parents wisely to produce puppies that have details that is following the phenotype he is looking but it must be according to the Boerboel standard.
The head, the Bones, the size, the masculs everything you want.
Is the results of what the breeder is developing by putting a male and female together following the genotype.
In everything blood of a BOERBOEL there is All the details you need according his ancestors.
A short Boerboel can give you something tall puppies or a tall Boerboel can give you some short puppies.

His name is Johan Svart probably the wrong spelling, but anyway he’s all over UA-cam lives in South Africa and seems to know what he’s talking about and he’s on the same page as you with regards to there is not four different types of this breed. What area are you in?
For everybody who want this dog they need big yard or open space & regular exercise otherwise they can turn really destructive. They also eat alot my two go through 40 plus kgs abt 90 pounds of kibble in 3 weeks. They are very easy to groom so a bath, brush even once a month will do. They can have many bone problems e.g hip dysplasia, knee problems, bone cancers because of their weight so make sure to give a good glucosamine & chondroitin supplement. They are the best dogs to own & very kid friendly.

I have had pitbulls in the past used to just train them the way I know I really want a boerboel now have 2 young kids but the more videos I watch the more divisive I get because of how they talking about you have to be very well experienced in dogs to own 1 etc
