Thank you! I do a smart collection of five stars (my best), but that is getting large and a bit unwieldy. Your video encourages me to do some smaller collections, eg., B&W, landscapes, etc. Thanks. Geoff
Great run down on collections. I couldn't do without them. One thing you didn't mention that might make people quicker to utilize collections is that you are never duplicating images. Oh, one more thing , we should tell people about "targeted" collections and the "b" key. Collections along with Compare mode, Survey mode and Reference mode are among my fav tools in Lrc.
Thank you for this, good to know. Sometimes the word 'Smart' is just too generic and means nothing, it looks like 'Filter' Collection would have made more sense or something... but yeh handy, I get it. Thanks! I'm enjoying the short but fast bite sized informative content. Keep it coming.
Thanks. Working with setting up my LRC photos (53K+). Now to organize them. 😀 QUESTION: Can you create a collection set or sets inside a collection set? For example. I went on a cruise to Alaska last year. I want each stop in its own collection. I want all of those collections in a collection set. BUT, I also want to put that collection set inside a Collection set labeled "Vacations". Will that work?
Do those photos automatically also get added to the Smart Collections? Because I imported my photos and also did the smart previews with it and I noticed that they’re also in the smart Collections yet I never chose that.
Cogent vid, Ryan. As already mentioned in earlier comment, putting “images” into a collection just sets up an index system rather than making copies of the photos. LR works like a relational database - group of inter-linked tables. If you make and later change criteria in a smart collection (assuming you can do that) does LR rebuild the smart collection on the fly to include/exclude older images? Can collections et al span multiple catalogues?
Short and sweet. Very good. Smart collections cansave time, but can also grow too large unless adding additional search parameters.
you made this so simple
Great presentation with clarity and speed that is understandable that keeps the viewers interest. Thank you!
This was such an excellent explanation for something that can be so confusing, thank you!
Thank you!!!

It seems like tags are basically the same concept as collections. Am I missing something?
Sucks balls that the cloud product doesn't support smart collections..
lr cc classic definitely does! but yeah, would be great if lr cc did too!
250k images. One catalog. Don’t use collections.
do what works for u! how do u find images quickly when u need them?
"collections or collections."
