- This is might be the premier Duel Disk! The new BANDAI Proplica Duel Disk is full to scale, lights up and makes sounds, reacting to cards played in each of the different zones. It also plays voice lines from Seto Kaiba and songs from throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh series soundtrack, such as Fang of Critias, Anger of Gods, and Passionate Duelist. It was originally available for pre order in Japan and through import shops starting in March, and only just released this November!
As a new owner, I am speechless, and can't wait to try it with my cosplays! DUEL!

It's 2019 and we still don't have a functioning duel disk that doesnt damage cards and projects holograms. Smh... 😑

It can be done with this one I suppose, by placing the 2 middle spell and trap cards in the banished and extra monster zones, it's a work around but it's possible!

You could probably make one using a Yusei 2010 Duel Disk, since the blade on that is detachable. It should be fairly trivial to make a fixture that can accept it and strap onto a motorcycle.
It would probably need to be on a rail for safety purposes

For the price of this thing, it should transform.
There are a lot of things the Bandai Proplica Duel Disk does better than the older Mattel Duel Disk, but transforming is NOT one of them. I will always miss the feeling of the old Duel Disk snapping into place, which I used to do before every cosplay photo.

I just picked up 5D’s Yusei Duel Disk 2010 because it has the extra zone and banish zone slots , I love it , hoping we get a worldwide release, with the voice actors Kaiba and Yugi, English version

That’s impressive. The field spell zone looks more like it has the duel academy function instead of like the old one, but I do like how the spell and trap zones are accurate to an anime duel disk. I always liked the life point sound effect.
If it had a self shuffling feature, there would be no need to cut or tap again other than the beginning of the duel..m
I think the best part about this is that a lot of the features, like the Extra Deck zones, digital display and hand grip were carried over into the Sevens Duel Disk.
Yusei’s duel disk was my favorite. It looked like an updated version of this one. I’d probably get Yusei’s disk if they made it.

I wanted to ask, is it difficult to insert cards in to the middle and middle right hand monster zones? do you think doing so would damage the cards?
The instruction manual has warnings about the angle of approach, but it is very likely that you will have to curve a card to get it into the 2 Spell/Trap slots directly in front of the graveyard. OR, if you want to avoid that, you can always play them face up in the slots that carry Banished Cards/Extra Monster Zone cards and move them to normal Spell and Trap Zones when you are done with them. As someone who has cosplayed Bakura, it certainly will make Destiny Board a hassle!

Eh, yeah... IDK, I think an updated Yusei disk in the near future would be a good investment.
Yusei’s Duel Disk 2010 actually is quite modern. It introduced the Extra Deck and Banished zones, it allowed ample room for a fully sleeved deck (up to 50ish cards), and even accounted for five-digit life totals. The one flaw it really had was that it doesn’t have a one’s digit. It really is close to perfect. There’s even a slot on the bottom of the Field Spell Zone, so that could be used for your EMZ in a pinch.
Brawler_1337 True. But it could also use the digital point counter, an updated arm band, and the 5D’s sound bites, right?
I'd love one of these, but I hope they put out an updated GX disk, and a standard 5D's disk, then I'd be happy.
The battle city, is in my opinion, the best designed disk, but there should be one for everyone, especially for cosplay purposes.

@@shadowking141ghostIt was only released in Japan, but there were two versions of Yusei’s duel disk released in 2009 and 2010. The 2009 one had a lifting clip gimmick to lift your cards off the blade. The 2010 version was more strictly functional with slots for Extra Deck and banished. Both fit sleeved cards way more comfortably than the GX duel disk, both track five digit life totals, and both have more solid construction. I own the 2010 version, and it is awesome.
A part of me wishes they should've made more of these things and I hope one day these new duel disk models would get a worldwide release.

The closet we are going to get to Holograms is using a Duel Gazer that covers both eyes instead of 1 and special cards with built in technology that cost a pretty penny

There's two things I hope to see. 1: They do another GX Duel Disk but you can change the colors to have all 3 houses. and 2: American release for both this and GX, with the main trio of both series added in. I'd love to have the Eng Dub of Kaiba and Yugi on this thing.

Seeing an Arc V duel disk(s) would be cool in my opinion, I'd personally go for Zarc's or Yuri's because those are color schemes I like.

I've found success using the Banished Cards slot directly behind the Zone where an Extra Monster Zone would normally occur. Even if you aren't summoning a Link Monster, you can place a monster summoned from the Extra Deck face-up in this slot. It has the same effect as playing on a play mat with no zone markers and a Field Center, which modern competitive players do every day!

Nice try, but I don't think it's built for Master Rule 4, but then again, maybe you have True Draco or some rogue deck that hardly uses their Extra
@@Goblin_HandsYou can use the Banished Card slot and place a monster summoned from the Extra Deck there, face-up. It looks just like the Spell & Trap zone where you can just see the top of the card, but it is directly behind where the Extra Monster Zone would ordinarily be, and just like playmats, only half of it appears on the mat!
The fact this is not global and for Japan only is outrageous. I waited 15 years to get my first duel disk 2 years ago, Gx one. Love it. But I wish they made this more world wide

I don’t understand how Konami hasn’t done magnetic disks & card sleeves instead of slots that damage the cards.
Literally my only issue with the Bandai-Namco Proplica Duel Disk is that the Duel Blade doesn't swing and transform like the Mattel Duel Disk's did. If they had included that little feature, it would've been PERFECT.
It likely is based on the manga. Apparently Duel Disks never transformed in the original story and that was added to the anime ~ !

THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN AMAZING REVIEW!!! I've had my eye on this for a while but wanted to wait for reviews before I decide to take the plunge. This is duel disk is perfect for me since I play GOAT and Speed Duels. I'm also planning on cosplaying Kaiba and Duke Devlin soon so I can hang up my original Duel Disk. Do you know how many cards it can hold (sleeved and unsleeved) in the deck, graveyard and extra / removed from play zones? Also would double sleeved cards work with this or is that pushing it? I've tried watching other Japanese reviewers but none go into specifics on sleeves and card storage count. I use KMC Hyper Mat Minis and the official Kaiba Corp sleeves.
I think double-sleeved cards are likely too much, for instance: The Extra Deck Zone and Banished Card Slots will holds 15 sleeved cards comfortably, you can slide in an extra 16/17th card, but an 18th card or beyond would have to be forced. BUT, those cards sit inside perfectly in the Y/Z dimensions. The X dimensions, the horizontal width of a vertically aligned Yu-Gi-Oh card would change, and exceed the size of the slot made for it.
But while you can't double sleeve, here's some good news, straight from the instruction manual! The deck zone fits up to 40 sleeved cards, and likely more unsleeved. The Graveyard fits up to 40 unsleeved cards, and likely less sleeved. The whole duel disk is really designed to run a 40 card sleeved deck with up to 15 cards in the Extra Deck Zone. It is not designed to run a 60 card That Grass Looks Greener deck back when that was legal, or modernly a 60 card Gren Maju Da Eiza / Golden Castle of Stromberg Deck. Hope this helps, and good luck in your future duels!
I ordered two of these because I’m so excited to get this! What batteries did it require and was the user manual easy to translate with an app?
You'll be the coolest kid on your block, twice! Each Duel Disk needs 3 AA batteries and does not come with any. You just need a screwdriver and they are easy to install. As for the instruction manual, I actually read katakana and hiragana, but a Google Translate App should be able to walk you through it, and YGOrganization posted a full list of features earlier this year.

Pokémon, for instance, or Three-Dragon Ante, or Magic the Gathering?
In Cardfight!! Vanguard they have a special table which looks and feels a lot like a Duel Disk, using a special glove to interact with it.
Hopefully the next upgrade to the disk is incorporating that Card Recognition software Konami has been working on.
I still want an Orichalcos duel disk that actually folds up and activates like they did in the show.
The 5Ds disk was functional, the dumb part was it was basically the last disk they ever made aside from this one and the Sevens disk (which is alright since it also has 5 slots)
Since 5D's was one of my favorite spin-offs, I wanna grab this as well as that duel disk. But man are they pricey 😅

Remember in the show how duel monsters use to be a small time game until kaiba invented the duel arena and then the disk and everyone started playing until I became a way of life in the future

Tbh, I really do like this duel disk. However, with how technologically advanced we are now, I would really like to have a Zexal Duel Disk along with the Duel Gazer, or "Card games from Dragon Ball Z." Lol
