This might be way too late, but is there a way to modify the wheelchair to have raised height lift that you can have a switch to operate & have the wheels lock in place before transferring? That’d be an awesome adjustment to wheelchair I think. If we’ve a raised bed lift, I’m sure we can also have one modify to a wheelchair. Thank you for showing us the hand control, that’s awesome to have for differently-able person. I might be able to have one modify for the brake for my partial numb left leg when it does happens occasionally 🙏👏🙌👍
Awesome post. My wife walks with rollator but has trouble getting in RAM Promaster RV. I had an idea to remove the trim from the door and bolt vertical linear slides to the door with a linear actuator and folding seat shelf. My wife could sit on the shelf with back to door and the motor would raise the shelf to seat level and I could close the door enough to move the shelf seat until she could transfer to the van seat. Reading your comments I found Glide 'n Go Multi-Lift which is similar but mounted inside not to door.
Did you come up with anything better? I've just picked up a VW Caravelle. I'm T9 complete and want to be able to load solo so I can use it as my everyday runaround.
Kalian luar biasa, saya mengalami hal yang sama dengan kalian, dan mencoba hal yang sama dengan yang kalian lakukan. Saya berharap kalian selalu rutin upload video tentang kehidupan kalian
This is all useful content, thanks. To get into big 4x4s on our property i have a pallet and a ramp. I have pondered the van you have and wondered if the ramp could be a stiff foam so its easy to lift in with the wheelchair. That would be light, cheap and not to slow. How high is the seat from the ground?
Bro getting in that van is a lot of work. I do a similar entry in to my truck. But my shoulders got burned out and I went to a van with the under vehicle lift. It works well for camping . 👍
Good to hear a positive opinion on the under vehicle lift! We're still looking at all the options, can decide what will work best for us plus what we can afford. Do you mind if we ask how much an under vehicle lift cost you?
I have seen a scooter come with two very light retractable ramps that fold easily and wouldn't be too difficult to store in a van. 'Folded, I am guessing they were no longer than 3ft max.
@@adaptivetravel I can send a pic' if it's ever needed, though I am guessing different scooter manufacturers will have their own versions as it looks quite a generic design.
@@adaptivetravel Almost identical! :) 'Great minds think alike! :) I have the ramps myself and they're ok but the size restrictions with a car made it clear that I need to get the van. 'Hopefully, that will happen when the restrictions are eased. If you do go ahead and get them, it would be interesting to see a vid' on how good they are in practice. :)
A guy I follow (samtait on IG) has the standard height van and runs a line across the top with enough slack he can pull himself up, I wouldn't say it's great long term but it's not quite doing a full pull up because your wheels kind of glide against the frame of the van much like using the rail to get up stairs it's a lot of work but not as much as a straight lift. The other option depending on how much space you have in the side door is for Craig to tip backwards and walk his hands back in (ua-cam.com/video/xglxZQSP-Io/v-deo.html ) what I do personally is Craig's transfer into the front buckle myself in and disassemble my chair to bring in the vehicle that way I drive a Jeep so it's actually a pretty similar height.
Just checked out Sam's instagram and seen his video of him getting into his van. Looks interesting! Not sure if I'd be able to do it (push my wheelchair back into the van) without core, but definitely worth a try! Would need to get a seatbelt for my wheelchair too, will let you know how we get on 😀
In the short term it will be difficult to get in and out of the van alot, but we will purchase some sort of ramp/lift to make it easier in the future 😀
That first transfer into the seat in the front... OMG man lol.
Yes, the Superarm lift is the best option.

Access Unlimited makes a multi lift. That’s what we use for our camper van

@@adaptivetravel No worries. I believe the UVL was about $10,000 USD. It felt expensive, but we had few options given the layout of our camper van.
What is the name of the lift you mentioned (the one only sold in the US). I didnt quite get the name. Thanks

@@SunshineMix101 we're envisioning something like the one in this video ua-cam.com/video/gtxjJs0WriQ/v-deo.html. Is it the same sort of ramp?

How long ago was your injury?
About 2.5 years ago 😀
