For the company it's good, for the customers it's bad. Ever wondered why democracies are good and dictatorships are bad? Because you have multiple choices, and aren't forced to just swallow the whims and wishes of one entity. The same holds true for monopolies. A monopoly is essentially a dictatorship, while competition is democracy.

lichess will eventually shut down. so chess.com will have monopoly and it will be really bad. even if every company does it, it is still bad.
They literally can't sell since it isn't a comapny, it's a nonprofit organization. There is no owner.
