Seastar Hydraulic Steering Rebuild / Arm and Cylinder Removal / Sea star Steering STUCK

- I was repowering a boat this week and my old sea star steering cylinder needed to be removed as I am selling the outboard. This is the same process you would have to do to be able to rebuild your steering system minus the complete removal of the tube, but its a good idea to remove it and clean it up and grease it so it doesn't get stuck like this one was. I used the Seastar tool that presses the steering arm off the cylinder and it worked like a champ. I also used a pipe wrench to grab the other arm and help work it back and forth the remove from the outboard.
Thanks for the video! Is that a special puller for the Sea Star System?
Yes a special tool you can buy them on Amazon
@@jerryrig Thanks! Mine came apart with a couple plastic mallet taps.
@@Hubjeep I’ve not gotten that lucky in a long time now. Maybe its a sign I need to work on newer stuff.
@@jerryrig I put it together over 12 years ago!
@@Hubjeep must have done it right!
Is this stuck as in the steering wheel @ helm will not turn in one direction also?
No mine was just leaking seals. I had one stuck at the helm but they are easily rebuildable as well.
Do you have the link for the tool?
