He says it himself, earlier in the movie. 'The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.' You don't participate in the negative waves of road rage, you eventually find a 'cosmic car' like Miller and Otto. It's what people really want . . . to leave the ball n chain behind.
I watched this because I didn’t want to live. Then I remembered, if I’m dead, I can’t eat good food, I can’t drink cold water, I can’t take hot showers, and I can’t watch Repo Man.
I don’t think they tried too hard, lol. Keep in mind that this was made right after Return of the Jedi, if you want a good comparison to what Hollywood could do at the time.
Can we appreciate the the fact that the crooked televangelist that Otto's parents donated all of Otto's future education money to showed up in hopes of seizing the Chevy Malibu?
I've never even seen this whole movie.. just this scene and it blew me away so much. I have purposely not rented it or bought it cause I feel like this movie is a unicorn or something that has to come to you. this scene is so important to me.
Its DEFINITELY worth it. Best movie of the 80s. Any time it comes to you is the right time. In my case my dad showed it to me when i was in high school. Theres nothing else like it.
I just love the fact that they went "this place sucks, we're leaving with the flying space car." Personally I kinda want to see what Otto and Miller get up to with that Malibu
Zebra Corner referenced this in their latest ad parody (the valet one). Now whenever I see this I'll imagine Mahk saying "It may glow in the dahk but it's still a f'n Chevy."
this ending is a total drug fever dream. Its like the director didnt know how to finish it, took a shitload of LSD amd watched 2001: Space Odyssey and in his OD, mouthfrothing state came this
21 really, since principle photography took place in the summer of ‘83. Which is funny because Marlene questioned if Otto was that old, and the government computer later corrected itself about his age.
Seems like the Chevy chose Miller and Otto. Why? It's about as unknown, as the Cosmos itself. And I know it sounds nuts, but this radiation is alien. Who knows what effects it has, besides turning the Chevy into a UFO of sorts. It may have made it living.
When I saw the movie "Ghost" the ending seemed familiar. Then I shouted "Eureka! Now I know" causing a bunch of crying women with big hair and Millie Vanilli shirts to jump. "This is like the end of Repo Man! Sorry you spilled Coke on your bleached denim skirt."
anyone have any idea how they achieved the green glowing effect of the car? I'm assuming they have one shot without the car and then another shot layered over with the car...but beyond that, I'm baffled. if anyone has any ideas lmk. trying to do something similar but with a person glowing instead of the car.
"What about our relationship?"
"Fuck that."
Ha! Love this film!
Yeah. She was a bitch anyway.
In all fairness to Otto, they really didn't have much of a relationship to begin with.
FREEdom 🛸
One of the best lines in cinematic history.
“I’m glad I tortured you!”
"What about our relationship?"
Otto: "Fuck that"
Hats off to the Plugz, they got the feel of this movie and added the vibe like Bernard Hermann.

Unfortunately the ball and chain is the norm. They don't like when people fly off in a magical car.
If anyone's wondering, the song is "Reel Ten" by The Plugz
Reminds me of "Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd, and began wondering when they really released it. The title reinforced the thought, LOL!
i used to have this soundtrack on tape...
Thx, bby.
On my I tunes
I bought the soundtrack in the early 90's

So many great scenes... so overlooked... so not for everyone
no.... it IS for everyone...... should be required for HS Diploma.
Which is why I love it all the more. What a great flick.
0:33 Miller leaves the door open because he knows Otto will join him

Yep, ... you Need to Find & CHOOSE Reasons to Live!!! & Unlike all the corporate dead-heads that think Greed is a reason
Probably one of the best punk films ever made
I LOVE This music and I LOVE the sci-fi effect. There is something so awesome about old movies trying to be hi-tech. I love it.
I don’t think they tried too hard, lol. Keep in mind that this was made right after Return of the Jedi, if you want a good comparison to what Hollywood could do at the time.
Boy does this movie bring me back to my teens. Miss those days more and more every day.
This movie was completely bonkers...and I loved every minute of it.
It's like if Grease's ending was good.
Now that's funny.
You forgot to add, "and if the car was also built by aliens."
if only bo welch directed this
The Snyder cut
This might be my new favorite comment in regards to this movie

LOVE the look on Miller's face as he approaches the "Car" !
Yep he Knew it Was "His Ride"
God, what a great film and great soundtrack!

It was Frank's plan all along.
I met the director on another set! Got to do a scene with him. He’s a character in real life!

This film is one of my favorites, even more so than Pulp Fiction.

This film should have it's own holiday. Gather the family around a plate of shrimp and sing a chorus of "Coup D'etat"
and recite the repo man code
And marry a Repo wife.
Best ending in cinema
Gotta watch this fuckn' movie again.
Miller is the chosen one.
That was intense.
Great movie, great soundtrack.
