Just want to give yall a better exposition since they didn’t address this in the episode…Choi Jong-In (red haired fire mage) is the guild master for the Hunters Guild and Cha Hae-In is the Vice master of the Hunters guild while Baek Yoonho is the Guild master of the white tigers guild which is a Rival Guild hope that helps

Song Chi Yul is a swordsman in real life. He teaches the sword to others and 1 special person. That's why he's lamenting to be awakened as a magician when he himself is a swordsman. He has not reawakened.

25:10 : Mr Song did not reawaken. He was lamenting the fact that he was a swordsman for decades and when he awakened as a hunter his skills did not complement his fighting ability (which is usually the case) His ability is to manipulate and use fire ( fire mage) this makes him quite unique and he is a particularly strong C rank because of it in someways and in others it is a hinderance because his swordsman ship cant truly shine because he doesnt have the super strength of physical type hunters.
(I should point out here that People got super powers or becoming awakened is a phenomenon that started happening when gates started opening up in the world 10 years ago)

A few things that you apparently missed in the episode...
1. Yes, they failed at Jeju Island and had to abort, surrendering the island to the dungeon monsters...ants. The first episode of the series was the battle of Jeju Island, which they showed momentarily in the flashback of this episode. We only got to see when the S Rank hunters showed up at Jeju Island in the first episode, but we were never shown the outcome of that mission...but clearly the ants were in the real world, which means there was a dungeon break and the monsters escaped.
2. They showed in the episode that someone was hired to kill somebody on this mission...we didn't see who it was to be killed in their interaction, but we see that someone was attempting to hire for murder before this mission to have someone killed.
3. Sung didn't reawaken with magic, he trained in martial arts and the sword before hunters began awakening. But when Sung awakened as a hunter, he awakened as a magic user, rendering his skills with the sword as meaningless in this world. This is part of the reason why he is such a low rank hunter, because he not only didn't awaken with much magic but also isn't proficient in it.

3) The person you are referring to is Song Chi-Yul. Not anyone with the family name Sung.

This group wasn't chosen on purpose for any particular reason. The gates appear randomly and if they aren't bid on by strike teams and cleared in a few days the Association will put out a call to all the local hunters in the immediate region of the gate to assemble and hopefully clear it before a Break occurs. These guys all happen to live in close proximity to each other which is why they've gone on other missions together before and all know each other. I think next week's episode will explain more about the prisoners, but there was a hint in this episode (you guys jokingly commented that it was from a different anime 🤣). The manhua actually gave more about it prior to the team assembling at the gate, so hopefully they don't gloss over it next week.
The next episode will be very wild. The character Kang Taeshi (blue hair) has a high perception because of his class, but he cannot see other people's ranks. On Jejun Island there was an S rank raid break, there are no humans or animals living on the island, only monsters.
Blue hair? He has purple hair. People who aren't familiar with the names yet may have a hard time knowing who you mean with that description hahaha
