Class of "82"! I did 7th thru 12th in Mannheim, and 3rd to 6th in Worms! Finally left 1989! Man I miss that place, such good times back then! Was there in 2017, it hurt my Heart, to see the way it looked!

I was at Coleman Barracks from 87-89. I was a single soldier and me and my roommate would go watch the Bison games even though we had no kids in the game just to support "our team". GO BISONS!

My dad was stationed in Mannheim from 1976-1980. I left after my Sophomore year and it was hard leaving that place and all my friends. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

I've been there at the age of 17 with my german school class for 1 day in 1978, great experience, BFV in the 70s was the best.

My Girl Scout troop used to spend time with a German Girl Scout troop from Mannheim. This was during the late 1950s. Good memories.

You old-timers wouldn't remember, but in about 1993 my son, Robert, as his Eagle Scout Project, had the buffalo that stood out front moved from where it was abandoned in a former military housing area in Munich to the front of the school where it was the mascot until the school closed. I wonder where it wound up?

Great video, Rudy. I also just found out BFV closed down. I just saw Raymond V's recent photos and it's really sad to see how everything has so quickly deteriorated.

I'm curious, what happened to all the sports equipment that the school had?
I keep wondering what happened to all the sports balls, like basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, etc, that were used in all these schools before they were closed?
The reason I'm putting that out there is, because I really want to get my hands on a few of the old rubber soccer balls, that were used in many of the Mannheim (boys and girls) soccer games between 1970 and 1986. I'd pay a good amount for a ball (as much as €750). I'm sure if any sports balls that were save, they would have been the leather stitched soccer balls, Wilson/Spalding basketballs, and stitched volleyballs. For me, the old rubber soccer balls (game balls) are what I want. I would not care if they are flat, very worn or even damaged, I will still buy them!
As a side note..I'd take all rubber soccer balls, that were used in any of the American High schools between 1970-1985ish.

Once upon a time in the late 60's(67,68,69,AND 70) Viet-Nam was raging, like it or not,we were all outsiders. The initials we carved so that we would be remembered did not with stand the time, only the haunting echos of the lockers opening and closing.NA NA NA NA,NA NA NA NA,HEY HEY HEY, GOOD BYE! For all of you Mannheim graduates, I just published an novel about living in BFV on Grant Circle and discovering a secret in the house that takes the family on an adventure exploring a hidden Nazi past. Worth a read, in my opinion. We lived there from 1990-1993 and two of my children attended the High School. www.amazon.com/dp/1500130214/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1491274599&sr=1-1

@@angryyoda1 Not to flog my books too much, but the sequel is called ,"The Fort" and is available on Amazon. It is also based in Mannheim and in France. You'll find it most easily by searching on my name. Apparently there are several books with the same name. Who knew? There are 3 more books in the series with the same characters, but I need to finish editing them and get them printed. Anyway, thank you again for reading The Closet.
