I'm so glad that you CONTINUOUSLY spread the gospel about not knowing what's good yet. I come from a fighting game background and it's all too common these days that people call for adjustments/bans DAY 1 before learning and adapting to the game. It sucks to see that in card games too. It's nice to see someone more thoughtful and patient trying to spread the good word. Keep it up Jeff!
Who would win? Legendary beasts that are forces of nature and/or embody the destructive potential of science and humanity's hubris? OR A slappy bird and their round friends?
That's funny, reading Brock I thought you had to be running fighting energy for it to work (otherwise there would be no "fighting energy in your energy zone"). Good to know that's not the case!
Love all your deck videos. Very interesting. I'm curious to see your next one. PS I would love one featuring Growlithe and Arcanine. From just reading and not playing yet, I feel like they're self damage really hurts them from being strong
It was mentioned already by Twitch chat, but I want to see how a "Wet Brock" deck would play 😂Starmie EX seems like it would synergize well with Golem wanting to pump out big damage and end games quickly, while benefitting from a mono-type shell. Maybe replace Koga / Farfetch'd with Misty / Lapras as well for the explosive start potential.
I believe that Mewtwo is strong but I don't believe that it's anywhere near a top deck. I'd personally even give it a B tier rating because it takes a lot to get going and by that time, Pikachu/Starmie/Marowak are already stomping your face in. Not to mention all of these off meta decks you're cooking. Love to see it.
This deck is super fun and i recommend everyone to try it. However geodude has a major downside of 2 energies retreat. The wrost scenrio is only having Geodude to play on turn 1. You can't afford to let it get knocked out since it's the only copy. Even if you manage to retreat it with 2 energies, you'll likely fall behind your opponent.
In the video he does mention that. But it's only a 10% to happen and in the 2 games he showcased where it did he was able to retreat for 2 and still win the game. Mostly because the rest of the deck is so good at low energy.
Interesting list. I think Weezing is slowly getting noticed as the generally good card that it is rather than just a combo piece for Muk. Kinda funny how the launch meta seemed to gravitate towards the slow/greedy decks. I guess they do have the flashier cards. Looks like people are waking up to the importance of tempo now though.
I can't wait for more sets to be released. Unfortunately the game decided I'm gonna be playing Venasaur Exeggutor but I just love these wacky interaction decks.
I agree the articuno deck is over valued but if that dude hit his misty turn one it would’ve been over. I think misty does deserve to be looked at/reworked.
Hey Jeff, what are your thoughts on Kangaskahn over the duck? Bulkier with more damage potential. Does the potential for damage and the retreat cost take it off the board for you? Just curious.
Kang is actually lower after damage than Duck - you expect 30 per turn, where Duck is 40. I wanted the more aggressive option here, which is why I went with Duck.
@@HooglandiaPocket That's awesome to hear my brain is working at even a fraction of yours, Sir. Looking forward to it. I had quite a bit success with it myself.
I keep hearing you talk on stream about how strategically deep this game is, but so many matchups seem decided before you even start. Some decks just can't go fast enough to compete against a Gardevoir + Mewtwo EX, or a Pikachu EX when you have monsters that are weak to lightning. I don't understand if there's something I'm missing, but the more I play the less impact I feel like my decisions have on the games.
@HooglandiaPocket I've been playing your Starmie/Greninja deck and your Arbok/Pidgeot deck. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, my games never play out like the example games you played in the videos.
I didn't mean to come off as rude, I like your content and respect you as a player and deckbuilder, but I just don't understand where the decision flex points in this game are at all.
While I do find this deck creative, I really don't see a reason why you wouldn't just play Muk as a finisher and replace the Brocks with Giovannis which is more consistent than waiting for a stage 2 solo finisher if your gameplan is just early game aggression from Weezing and Farfetch'd.
The meta in Pokemon TCG first 3 expansions were aggro decks with 1 energy hitters that you can boost with damage plus (basically Giovani). In fact there were this Hitmon chan, Electabuzz and Scyther. And there almost this versions except Hitmonchan have 2 attacks. So yeah 1 energy aggro attackers are very very strong Far-fetch is basically better because+10 extra damage but in general people should use more aggro efficient cards because EX are very weak until energy cheating becomes generic in the game

Making this a one colored energy deck is genius! Never would have thought of using Brock that way
Graveler and golem need only one fighting energy. Maybe using dark energy too would be good to fight mewtwo decks...
Did you watch the video? It's mono-dark@@felipefreire4593
im so grateful jeff will be playing this game, because i get to see these unusual combinations
Genuinely amazed by this deck idea !
The most creative deck so far 👏
"Everyone has a plan until they get cracked by a leak" i passed away.
Dragonite only Draco Meteoring the one Koffing on the bench was hilarious. I could feel your opponent die inside.

Definitely on my list to get to! Eventually going to showcase as many of the playable Pokemon as possible on this channel.
@@louisfriend9323 you can play a game without Geodude early. You want the others early.

Now this is an original deck! I was hoping to see some wacky cookery out there in this game eventually and this definitely takes the cake.
good deck, the sinergy it is interesting
Cool deck, seen a misty Brock golem deck too all water
All hail the mighty ducks

Mew2 won the first 64 player tournament
"Aggro deck that was easy to find won the first tournament" is something literally every experienced TCG player from every game ever expects to hear.
Very cool deck.
Oh wow that reminds me of my main deck atm.😅
I call it Toxic Frog because its Weezing + Greeninja with x1 Misty but only runs Dark energy 😂

Did you miss the first graveler evolution point in the first game by mistake? T3 3:17 idk just curious. Loving these new brews everyday.
He did mention shortly after he had the Graveler and 'was dumb' because he didn't notice at first
U should try some sleepy decks like frostmoth and willy ex with farfetch or weezing plus wiggly ex
Definitely on the list to get around to

@@HooglandiaPocket got it, thank you for the clarification. Enjoying the content as always.
How can people question Farfetch'd being in every deck when it's coming up as the mvp in nearly every game?
How do you make it a one energy type deck when you have both dark and fighting Pokémon?
The options in the deck editor let you toggle off / on energy types up to 3 at a time.
Weezing/Wigglytuff EX. Give it a try.
Already recorded actually. Agree it felt pretty solid!

If you take out one geodude and put any support card this deck gets better
Seems strange to run 0 geodude in a deck with graveller and golem but maybe you thought you saw two at the beginning of the video?

Sounds like you are building bad decks and writing off your lack of decisions to lack of gameplay depth as opposed to bad deck building.

Look forward to collecting cards in the game but the gameplay seems too basic.
Core rules being simple is a feature. The skill expression is in understanding the board and sequencing around what your opponent can do.
