I had this idea once but never thought it to conclusion, but this is simple and elegant. It's just that PLA doesn't like being sanded and gums up sandpaper, it just melts right into sandpaper on the surface. Sanding it wet should be an improvement.
That's what I did, except I use pieces of self-adhesive Velcro cut into circles to hold the DIY sanding discs which are cut from sheets of different grades of sandpaper.

Instead of gluing that sand paper glue a small peice of velcro because you can buy small sand disces that have velcro back

A great solution is to cut and glue a diamond "sandpaper" on the toothbrush for good lifespend :D
u no need to glue. Can use doublesided tape.
