I'm always offended when I see the low numbers Built To Spill generates. My favorite band and only a small percentage listen. But the ones who do are usually die hard

First performance of Stop the Show I've seen where they play the intro. Love it, because it helps build all the tension that makes the song's verse so satisfying
Kinda miss the live shows with 3 guitarists. Sounds good that way. The drummer and the bass player can stay, but I think it would help fatten up the sound to have more guitarists.

I've always loved BTS and their powerful guitar-driven soundscape, but I dont understand why the band has been cut down to a three-piece. It's not made them better imo....

To be honest I’m pretty sure it’s because Built to Spill doesn’t make a shit ton of money, touring is Doug‘s major form of income and it’s hard to pay seven band members when you are only liked by people with high IQ’s, W. in case you haven’t noticed in America there seems to be a shortage of
I disagree. I thought the larger lineup made their jams tend a little towards the sluggish and predictable. This smaller lineup with such an energetic rhythm section gives Doug space to explore while allowing the others to respond acutely from measure to measure.
Whoever recorded this, thanks for an amazing sound. It’s a recording even Albini would be proud of.
Doug carries the band again. The bassist and drummer just......dont seem like a fit. Very weak. I could hire a local high school bassist and drummer to fill in and it wouldn't make a difference.

I've seen them live. This is the best rhythm section, both by skill and stage presence.

Proper BTS live is at least a 5 piece
