Vittorio Grigolo and Nadine Sierra sing the Duke and Gilda’s Act I duet in the final dress rehearsal. Production: Michael Mayer. Conductor: Nicola Luisotti. 2018-19 season.
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
In a world of opera that is full of them, Giovanna may well be the worst maid/lady-in waiting of them all! How did she get the job in the first place? Suzuki and Brangane are at the other end of the spectrum, though Brangane isn't very good at mixing drinks... Aside from that, the singing is great, with Vittorio giving his High C a rest at the end of the duet. Looking forward to tuning in tomorrow night.
Especially for the poor tenors. For some reason, conductors love to rush this piece and the singers are often reduced to having to make a mad lunge at the high note rather than just playing it safe and going for what Verdi wrote. No matter if they hit the high note squarely or not, the audience reaction to this part of the duet is always muted as they are really waiting for Caro Nome...
Soprano!!! 👏👏👏👏
This is really hot. Giggolo has been working out.
but not for the Db.....
Bummer to not hear the Db5, but still a fantastic performance
Actually Db if you read the score.

You are quite right. I checked my score after I posted.
Always feels like an Eb though hahah

@@verdiguy unless you get a full body Db!
come nella versione con Pavarotti e Gruberova lo porta via la serva
This is seriously bad
He didnt reach the final note at all, nor her neither!. No one above Maa'm Sutherland and Sir Pavarotti
Какой ужас поет на сцене Метрополитан 😢😢😢
Красиво,но хочется больше:вокала чувственного и ,меньше ,наигранной суеты бесполезной..
Why does she sound so bad here
