Hey man, I think the design of this ship is very well thought out and very efficient. If you're interested the USN does have a color code for pipes, and while most probably wont apply to you as you are in space. ie firemain or potable water. However when I design ships in space engineers I always make color distinctions for each system, like hydrogen as yellow or white for oxygen/life support. If you're interested I would look into the BECC (Basic Engineering Common Core) study guides as that is where navy engineers learn those color codings. I cant specifically remember which mod covers the color codes, as its been a while since I have been in BECC but there are 7 mods and I'm sure by having a look through there's more knowledge that might help with designing ships damage control or managing crew when in these space engineer scenarios. There is a dedicated rate in the navy called DC or Damage Controlmen. Their study guides would most probably go into more depth about that specifically since BECC is just the basic school for all Navy Engineers. Additionally I know you said that the Eternity does better with other ships when in combat. Simply having maybe two escort ships like destroyers or corvettes which specifically are designed as defensive support with things like antifighter and anti missile systems, and systems designed to distract enemy auto turret fire from your battlegroup, would greatly serve to the overall effectiveness of the eternity and other large damage dealing ships of the sort. This isn't too dissimilar to modern day navies. Just having a design based on defense and distract to escort large ships would ease the burden for your damage controlmen and also allow you to dish out a more offensive strategy without having to worry so much on the defensive aspect. This would overall help the DC men from being too bogged down to repair vital combat systems. If you can manage a design with maybe only a 1-3 crew on each escort then they could simply just act as extensions to your own crew. Love the vids and I appreciate the ship designs

I just found your "dreadnaught against a server" video. I can't believe how much I am enjoing the adventures of the Eternity's Ascent and her stalwart crew. I would love to see that story done as either a movie (or better yet a series) in Machinima. Even with you just matter-of-factly reporting on the events, I got really excited and 'into' what was going on in the RP. I would be honored to contribute my (alleged) talents as a writer & storyteller. Would be cool with voice acting and/or writing in screenplay format, although I lack experience in both.
Thing is space warfare would likely look very different due to a very complex and persistent problem, heat. We think of space as cold and that is in part true but it's not like jumping into the arctic cold. In space there is very little matter to transfer energy to so heat can build up. All terrestrial forms of climate control work by teansfering heat to another medium, by heating up super cooled compounds, or by transfering heat to another location. All 3 of these present problems in space. The ISS needs large panels to radiate heat away from the habitable zones and that with just surviving in space instead of fighting. Thrust, firing armaments, taking hits, and welding damage will all generate a lot of heat which could make the ship a very warm grave for the crew. It would likely take a large portion of the ships design just to keep the ship from melting the crew.
I agree. Ship battles IRL is an interesting topic, with so many differing opinions and many sciences being brought up to give them credence. Personally, I think most space battles will be fought with ships as large as modern aircraft carriers, if not slightly larger. Drones would play an integral role, with large satellite telescopes being needed to locate the enemy due to vast distances. Lasers will solely be for point defence due to their limited effective range, whilst missiles will make up the main armament. A big point of these battles would be attempting to use asteroids as cover, as you'd be detected very quickly otherwise. Lastly, ship floors would quite likely be looping around the centre of the ship, as there wouldn't be a need to have the gravity act like in the films, and the ships based somewhat like skyscrapers (sort of like the halcyon cruiser).
I think it would be interesting to see the damage control perspective in the fights. The communications and coordination mostly, and how that looks side by side to command and other elements that contribute to the fight.
Pyro has had a few clips of damage control in the episodes before, but honestly it wouldnt be that great to watch, alot of frantic jet packing around and phasing through walls lol
Maaaaaaan I cannot wait for season 3! When I was young, I remember watching things like world War K and Macey dean's series, this just feels like the enhanced evolution of all that
I loved this vid. having numerous people on a ship all working together and actively controlling damage/repairs is awesome. I would love to see a vid where the camera is on the damage control teams during a battle.
I can't imagine how hard it would be to get around that ship while it is maneuvering all over the place. I wonder if they turn off the gravity and go to magboots for that?
I just want to applaud to the beautiful footage. All these years ago when the first of us bought SE in its first iteration, this is what we all hoped to see. The in depth stuff you're talking about and the absolute beauty of battlefield mayhem is breathtaking. Do go on with your series and you might just create a new mainstream way to play games this way. You're already being favored by the algorithm, some more tracking and your creation will start a real trend. I'm already dying to try this style of strat out of game fight in game pvp... If only I knew enough people playing the game. PS: it would be really nice to have a video from some "reporter" who's just running around midfight "filming" from holes in your haul with everything blowing up around them.

I think all of us can tell that this ship is Battlestar Galactica ( or rather Pegasus ? ) Seriously , all of this ships are having a large amount of lore behind it . Why this series isn't more popular .
Its actually based on a ship from the Game franchise "Halo". The ship is either a Halcyon-class light cruiser or a Autumn-class cruiser which is considered a general-purpose capital ship. Halo has some really in depth lore arounds its ships, especially on the humans side.
@@mustangdrew4_The_Spartan I believe it's the Autumn class, since I think it was based off of the Pillar of Autumn which technically was just a modified Halcyon, but then later was turned into the Autumn class.
@@themagicnerf yeah, that was what caused my indecision about its class. If it was based on the Pillar of Autumn then it could probably be considered both? Because the Autumn class was inspired by the PoA but it wasn't a 1 for 1 replica of the Autumn, it could be argued that The Eternity is halcyon class. Although ironically, the modifications made to the Eternity to keep it capable of contending, mimics how the UNSC had to modify the PoA to keep it viable for fighting the covenant. Fun stuff!
What's always bothered me about the concept of winning ship vs ship combat, is that winning doesn't always mean victory in a battle. Winning could mean getting operational enough to not be utterly destroyed and wiped. Everytime I play space engineers with my boys on an 'open' multiplayer server, the mentality is 'Victory is only assured when your ship survives to sail again.' Which is a quote directly from our groups combat leader. Victory in battle is great, but the cost of that victory can in some cases mean the ship is beyond repair. Damage Control is essential to winning the fight, but what's more important is the leaderships ability to have enough control in the situation to say 'We're losing this fight, damage control cannot sustain battle anylonger, and we must retreat to refit/repair.' Objectively sure, you 'lost' the battle but at the end of the day your ship wasn't cut inhalf floating in the emptyness of space millions of miles away from home. I always like to think that winning is having the ship survive to sail again. Losing one battle doesn't mean you've lost the war, as long as your ship can sail there is always a chance to win. In my group, I'm the logistics guy. I don't do combat, I just make sure resources get where they need to go on time, everytime. It makes my job so much easier when the crew of a shit KNOW when they're losing the battle and need to get to the objective of being operational enough to achieve victory by retreating. I've sat for hours organizing and talking with the builders of our group as they're needing supplies to manufacture an entire ship at sometimes four times the cost compared to if the guys doing combat runs simply retreated saving us time and resources to repair instead of reconstruct a ship.
Well thats the thing Exactly with Eternity, so many of the factions are like "Its easy to beat, and it loses alot". But the ship survives, and we have no home base which were tied to, making us hard to pin down.
Noticed that some of your internal ion thrusters are facing towards pipes, usually that would be a big no no... is thruster damage disabled for Outlands or are those custom thrusters which don't cause any damage? I only ask the second option because the rear hydro engines (at least one of them, according to your welder) is simply called "Eternity Engine."
Love the videos and the D&D based SE! QQ: im surprised that the ship isnt riddled with welders and a central projector for somewhat automated repair. Any thoughts on this or has this already been considered and declined?
I believe it was mentioned in the video, around 12:05, but the main reason is that welders cause the game to lag, so having too many welders can be a problem.
I'm awfully late to just recently learning about these "seasons", but it's a real cool idea. Don't have the specific game bought, and money's tight, so I guess I'll just enjoy being in the audience rather than partaking more directly.
I'd like to see a fight where the Eternity actually finds itself not only outnumbered and outgunned, but also outclassed. A ship with 7th gen technology that probably has an Atlas superlaser or two and Weaponcore energy shields. That way we don't have the classic "Oh because the Eternity is the Main character ship it always finds a way to not be absolutely obliterated." syndrome that I see a lot in action here.
Fun fact this isn’t even a capital shop there is usually multiple of these cruisers in a fleet (Unsc cruiser from halo is the design of it most likely a reference to the puller of autumn )
Not a space potato, as the designer of the glorious spud I cannot approve. 😛 That said during our battles our repair guys were often essential, keeping the fire power online, keeping engines going, drive by welding of armour on the way to more important systems.
Question: is that a creative server? one that you have the creative menu to spawn blocks but normal health? or is it survival and you had to get all the resources?
a little bit of both. The original ship was creative, but from then on out we get resources ourselves to sustain her. We kill very large ships so we've only done mining twice now
i have been building a ship that i want to see in the series. I don't have any of the dlc but i am using the mods the server uses. The ship is a heavy Cruiser named the Constitution. She looks a bit like a flying brick and sucks at turning and slowing down but she has stupid fast acceleration. current main armament is 9 400mm guns
In halo my favorite animation is seeing these types of ships (I think they are called Halsion class I'm probably wrong) is spinning around with tracer's spinning around
Also another good way to up the survivability of your ship if you ahve maintenance shafts like in there, have projektor anda few backups project the ship on itself so its easyer to replace missing stuff.
The attitude of not caring about hull breaches makes a lot of sense. In fact in some sci-fi worlds (The Expanse) ships going into combat just assume the hull will be breached and preemptively suit up and depressurize
im trying to build a damage con ship, the main problem im having, is my ship isnt the shape of a submarine. its a mad shape. and im not doing internal thrusters, they are spaced across the ship, and all of them, including all of their conveyers, are to be easily accessible. Making this system simple, is what im having difficulty with, its easy to do with 1000 winding coridoors, but making it simple, thats where the work is.
This looks like an outstanding game, i m sad i just barely heard it being nominated here and there, and that i m starting to actually know it just now. I m surprised it did not have the notorety of other games like gta and minecraft I would dare to say it looks even better than gta.
U think the EA could B killed with gravity weapons? i.e. Blast door segments, stacked so it looks like a knife, with minimal thrust steering & 2-4 grav gens attached & set up to all come on at the same time, so the rig acts like a missile, but faster than any thruster can evade?
i would like to suggest The mod AI enabled. It adds robot factories and acts as a more not bullshit alternative to nanobot build and repair. Robot factories are used to spawn different types of companions with a certain amount allowed per factory these bots can go from shooting intruders to repairing all things in sight. The mod can be finnicky and if you have enough players it is a bit redundant but for those who lack a decent playerbase its a great call in.
Unless it has auto-regeneration it can be destroyed by wear. Anyone ever tried making regenerative armors yet ? Like holding position a piece of the armor with a welder that build the block back to spec when damaged ? Or using logic blocks as sensors to see if armor was damaged, then ejecting the damaged armor and rebuilding it again ? If armor only stops one hit one time, might as well use 5x5x5 thick single plate truss' at a cost of 25 plates of armor chunk. Ramming is also very valid and can be logic controlled. (and the nose can be regenerable) Mass drops from within the gravity field can also be generated that way. Each time you create truss' and drop them. A few get destroyed by counter fire, but some always hit and do damage. Since it costs only 100 plates to create a 10x10 mass drop, easy ammo. One defence, regeneration of truss counterarmor on the base. LOL ! After each hit, the truss armor gets ejected, and new is built in it's place. "Umm, command ? We got 50.000 truss' raining down on us, and more are coming. Plz, advise ?....command ?.....-bzzzt--crackle-.." - last signal from outpost 13.
they are. But this describe how me made it work. Realistically we've had really close calls, and we have something incredibly oversized for the universe it finds itself in
not to say i hate the role playing however i would love something like outlands but minimal roleplaying and more action/ real vc audio kinda like cpt jacks colony wars
really you just need auto welders on the most critical sections that take the most damage, or parts that you can't function without (like the thruster array)
Thats all good but maybe you will fight against normal combat ships with 20 turrets and 20-30 layers of armor in front because they are meta? If you look at normal meta you can find that in SE there is no any emptyspace inside the ship. There should be armor or functional modules.
why would we? This ships exists in Outlands, not unrestricted pvp. Her weapon loadout conforms to rules, and so do her enemies. Thinking how she'd do outside of Outlands is silly. That being said, a lot of a Outlands ships beat other UA-camr ships at a fraction of thee cost.
@@GetBrocked what do you mean when you talk about cost? The iron? The gold? Or a platinum? The cost doesn't matter if the solution is much more effective than other cheaper variant. You should always compare the cost and effective. And in the case in this video we can see that ships are not effective against this fatboy. Because of there poor design. Just give them normal armor in front, normal module loadout and they will crash this bigship. The almost perfect design os triangle like star destroyer but all bow and middle is armor and all functional modules in stern, with weapons. So the ship will be ok while it has any armor in front.

I love theory crafter on how space battles might unfold and exactly how repair needs to be prioritized and with what principles to be used.
When I was young, I remember watching things like world War K and Macey dean's series, this just feels like the enhanced evolution of all that
Heyo! Hope to see a new season soon! Always good times and videos!
I loved this vid.
having numerous people on a ship all working together and actively controlling damage/repairs is awesome. I would love to see a vid where the camera is on the damage control teams during a battle.
I can't imagine how hard it would be to get around that ship while it is maneuvering all over the place. I wonder if they turn off the gravity and go to magboots for that?
sometimes yeah (the mag boots)
1 month away! I’m counting down Brock.
Can’t wait to see Eternity back at it, I know she will have new systems throughout her. Can’t wait to see you and Eternity’s crew again, and I hope all the originals will be present.
See you next time Captain.
Btw When are you going to let high command give you the rank of Admiral? I like the sound of Admiral Brock has a nice ring to it. 😉😂
He'll have to find spectre to promote him.. rest are kinda.. dead
I really like your idea of calling your videos D&D Space engineers. I really like the though that it is not entirely scripted like Captain Jack's videos.
I'm SOOOO excited for this to return.
I loved every moment of the first two seasons and I can't wait to see more from you all.
Side note: if I was on big E's damage control, I'd get ruined. My luck is terrible. If I go to one side searching for a split line or something it'll always be on the oppisite side.

@@mustangdrew4_The_Spartan I'm Halo fan , so I saw how similar these ships are . I rather was thinking about story perspective , less how ship looks .

I only ask the second option because the rear hydro engines (at least one of them, according to your welder) is simply called "Eternity Engine."
the thruster mod has reduced burn ranges among other things, there is no internal damage from thrust on the etern
@@pyrofuzz1428 Ah, got it. Thank you.
If you make the infinity, fullscale, you're gonna become a god by just being there and not doing anything. God of the entire server.
A comment for the algorithm, may it be merciful.
Love the videos and the D&D based SE! QQ: im surprised that the ship isnt riddled with welders and a central projector for somewhat automated repair. Any thoughts on this or has this already been considered and declined?
I believe it was mentioned in the video, around 12:05, but the main reason is that welders cause the game to lag, so having too many welders can be a problem.
it's also not as cool.
We may move the guns to a welder system. Not sure.
I'm awfully late to just recently learning about these "seasons", but it's a real cool idea. Don't have the specific game bought, and money's tight, so I guess I'll just enjoy being in the audience rather than partaking more directly.
All this damage control and armor is insignificant next to the power of the Plot
Just found this and tbh this looks so fun
If I hear I’m going to fight the eternity’s advent in a 1v6 I’m turning it into a 1v5 because it ain’t worth it 😭
Just a quick one, make sure your mags are boxed in, as the damage falloff is inversed for some reason
"The Eternity has never been outright killed."
*glances at the fucking antimatter flak* Welp...
The final weapon against the EDF, a BB with max flak turrets
Fun fact this isn’t even a capital shop there is usually multiple of these cruisers in a fleet
(Unsc cruiser from halo is the design of it most likely a reference to the puller of autumn )
The ship is based off that yes, However in scaling that as a cruiser for outlands would have battleships being of enourmous and unfunctional size.

Not a space potato, as the designer of the glorious spud I cannot approve. 😛
That said during our battles our repair guys were often essential, keeping the fire power online, keeping engines going, drive by welding of armour on the way to more important systems.
It’s pretty hard to get your own cruiser design in. You need. To be apart of a faction and then that faction needs to build a cruiser.
@@bluemoon1368 and it needs to compete with other people in said faction building the cruisers
In halo my favorite animation is seeing these types of ships (I think they are called Halsion class I'm probably wrong) is spinning around with tracer's spinning around
When it comes to build planner let me put it this way. Nomatter how fast you are at building, build planner is always three times faster.
Wonder how could this beast be defeated in Nebulous: Fleet Command ...
With missile tech i expect she'd need some point defense escorts.
Also another good way to up the survivability of your ship if you ahve maintenance shafts like in there, have projektor anda few backups project the ship on itself so its easyer to replace missing stuff.
Theres a projector for repairs post battle, but it would cause issues during a fight
YOU FOOL! By putting this out you have given the enemy a guide on how to counter your systems!
Yeh but its a series. Well at least EFN remember its a series.
A magazine chain-detonation, aka "Jutlanding"
How close is Eternity to the actural Halcyon design?
Based on the original halcyon hull, scaled differently and obviously different interior but exterior wise there's alot of similarities
Is it allowed and effective to board a ship and kill the crew ?
Maybe stack this thing with 100 gun turrets for cqb. Seems it's is weak when being swarmed. Max load with smaller weapons might help
Have dc ever jerry riged a conection due to damaged
This looks like an outstanding game, i m sad i just barely heard it being nominated here and there, and that i m starting to actually know it just now. I m surprised it did not have the notorety of other games like gta and minecraft I would dare to say it looks even better than gta.
U think the EA could B killed with gravity weapons? i.e. Blast door segments, stacked so it looks like a knife, with minimal thrust steering & 2-4 grav gens attached & set up to all come on at the same time, so the rig acts like a missile, but faster than any thruster can evade?
In an SE sense maybe eventually yes. But thats not a kind of weapon in the universe
In general what's the total crew sizes?
15 max, typically we run around 10-12
Almost 30k subs!.
is that marathon class or halcyon class
Based off parts of the Halcyon and Autumn class
i would like to suggest The mod AI enabled.

Brass Facts... In space?
Do you stream this?
The clips are from various streams, most episodes are streamed on fridays so its a good way to get an early peek.
Unless it has auto-regeneration it can be destroyed by wear.
Anyone ever tried making regenerative armors yet ?
Like holding position a piece of the armor with a welder that build the block back to spec when damaged ?
Or using logic blocks as sensors to see if armor was damaged, then ejecting the damaged armor
and rebuilding it again ?
If armor only stops one hit one time, might as well use 5x5x5 thick single plate truss' at a cost of 25 plates
of armor chunk.
Ramming is also very valid and can be logic controlled. (and the nose can be regenerable)
Mass drops from within the gravity field can also be generated that way.
Each time you create truss' and drop them. A few get destroyed by counter fire,
but some always hit and do damage. Since it costs only 100 plates to create a
10x10 mass drop, easy ammo. One defence, regeneration of truss counterarmor on the base.
LOL ! After each hit, the truss armor gets ejected, and new is built in it's place.
"Umm, command ? We got 50.000 truss' raining down on us, and more are coming.
Plz, advise ?....command ?.....-bzzzt--crackle-.." - last signal from outpost 13.

really you just need auto welders on the most critical sections that take the most damage, or parts that you can't function without (like the thruster array)
Its an upgrade the ship can earn, however we cant do it to everything otherwise we might slaughter the server.
Hold on, are you Brass Facts?
Indeed he is
Thats all good but maybe you will fight against normal combat ships with 20 turrets and 20-30 layers of armor in front because they are meta?
I know its your server basically, but its a really bad look to ban others from having internal thrusters on your server and excuse your own use of it by claiming aesthetics.
