    when people stop buying unfinished games finished games will become the norm again. But, I believe we have a better chance of seeing a unicorn before that happens.

      This is also a bad take because literally ALL of the very best games of the last 15 years started unfinished in early access. Literally all of them. So many incredible games that are obscenely drastically better than AAA. Yea, some of them suck, but many of them are also the greatest games ever made.
      You should be 9999999x more worried because of it being an MMO than it being early access.

      @@derpderpin1568 Since we are using the terms "literally ALL" I will point out that Baulders Gate 3 , Elden Ring, FF14, Resident Evil 4 and Hi Fi Rush among several others were not early access. For every BG3 there are several ATLAS that died in early access because of poor development that was only there to fleece the consumer for a quick cash grab, Its not a bad take to show that the consumer experience has been diminished by the explosion of early access unfinished products. its a statistical fact. While yes there are a lot of good games coming from them there are still more bad then good. Until the consumer stops the allowance of the unfinished market we will continue to see the degradation of the consumer experience. However, as stated before we have a better chance at seeing a unicorn because consumers will consume no matter the facial matter being given to them.

      @@derpderpin1568 That the whole point of EA is they aren't a AAA game company to pay for the testers so they get the players to help fund the game early, they need to pay bills too and to help with development of a game until it's final release. TO many folks complain it's not finished, exact that why it's EA and not a finished release. Folks need to stop buying in thinking EA's are finished games. It explains all this on the store page, just like it list there will be a sub, I heard folks saying they didn't say anything about subs and it's right there in the store page desc of EA of what the model of the game is and that the founder packs are you helping fun the development of the game in exchange to play it early during development to help test ti.

    After years of playing MMORPG's you want to play these games at least 1 year after launch. It's the best version of the game.
    The launch is always fun ( for a few days ) until you start to run into the major issues.. bugs, exploits, lack of end game content etc etc..

      And on top of that you will have to start over (even during the EA) for sure when they release the final 1.0 version. Which sucks. With how time consuming this game is. I played for 10 hours or so this weekend and barely managed to craft stuff, takes forever, glad I had a big clan to "steal" stuff from, but other than that I can't imagine playing this for 1.5 years or so and then have everything I've built and crafted deleted.

    Lol.

    • @MissElaineDumont
      @MissElaineDumont 3 місяці тому +2

      Oh that's just the start of it. When they announced the "monetization" on their Discord, they also mentioned that they were considering a "Token"-System (like in WOW). Which is literally pay2win but with extra steps and plausible deniability for the devs. And they also said it would not be "free to play". But at the same time they wrote that there would be a "free demo version" with "limited access". Which... kinda is exactly what f2p is lmao.

    • @NuriAlcoMovies
      @NuriAlcoMovies 3 місяці тому +2

      @@MissElaineDumont Hahaha I didn’t even know about the token system! I blame WoW players for allowing monetization to get THIS shameless, THIS bad, THIS quickly. I’m paying a monthly subscription, buying a box copy expansion every year, and every day passing by players who bypass the visual progression of the game with their wallets by splashing out on in game cosmetics, AND literally buying gold/power with real money with the added step of a tOkEN, ALL AT ONCE? Only thing missing is gambling, and I won’t be surprised if they squeeze loot boxes in there somehow.
      To us, who still remember the times when you could purchase a game once, and own it forever, this is outrageous. But what will become of the generation that is born into a time where shameless milking of your customers is considered a normal, if not “necessary” business practice?

    • @MissElaineDumont
      @MissElaineDumont 3 місяці тому

      @@NuriAlcoMovies Oh EVE Online has that system as well just forgot what they call it. And, coincidentally, according to themselves, some Developers on Pax Dei also worked on WOW and EVE. But, yeah, many in those communities don't just "allow" that to happen, they actually defend it.
      As for loot boxes? I mean they did say there were going to be microtransactions. So I fully expect them selling some kind of loot boxes or, the newest thing, "Battlepasses". ON TOP of the monthly subscription fee, of course lol.
      Hm. I would say it's "normal" according to the system at hand. Within the current economic system the only thing that matters, the sole goal is profit maximization. If a Company doesn't maximize their profits, even if they make the same amount every year, they are deemed unsuccessful. Hence why Microsoft is buying everything they can get their hands on and so is Disney. Because they know that controlling the biggest "shares" of the "market" means they will maximize their profit. And being a Monopoly is the ultimate profit-maximization. That goes for the so called "tripple A Industry" just as well as for smaller developers. Just look at all the shameless asset flips over the years.

    • @MissElaineDumont
      @MissElaineDumont 3 місяці тому

      @@CrackCatWantsPat I never said "limited time" I said: "limited access". And that's exactly what they wrote. They even specified that more that people who play this... "Demo" do not have access to Plots and will have limited access in terms of Gameplay, not time. That IS F2P. If it actually were simply just limited by time so you can, for example, only play for a month before having to buy the game like other mmo's used to do in the past then, yes, it would indeed be just a Demo and not F2P.
      But again: Neither I nor they ever said "limited time". Just "limited access".
      You see the difference?

  • @GamesExposed
    @GamesExposed 3 місяці тому +1

    The art style looks very boring. The mmo's of the past had worlds that would make you dream, this has some random grass, mountains and trees but with no direction. It's like if an amateur decided to learn how to make a map in a graphics engine with default assets. Look at Ghost Of Tsushima to learn how to make a unique art direction.

    i played Alpha 2 testing and in terms of crafting/gathering the game works great. Even fighting animals (deer/boars) for mats wasn't too bad. I don't do PVP so don't care about that, but do recognize that in Alpha 2 PVP was not good. But crafting/gathering? Yeah. That's the game I want and it's what I enjoyed. The building of Valheim with the crafting complexity of Final Fantasy 14. I find that really appealing. And when testing ended I seriously missed the game. Was it perfect? No Could have used more inventory slots and higher stack numbers.

    My wallet will be closed until I see that this game will bring as a finished product. Aka main release. Combat/Animations still need a lot of work.
    Condisering the devs also said everything will be wiped from the Alpha/Beta. Chopping wood/stone is miles away from New World as an example.
    *Serious question:* Will bow be good later on? As someone who has been a Hunter/Ranger lover ever since my first MMO (Daoc) back in 2001.
    For me, if it's just bad and only for range pulling, will be a dealbreaker for me and wallet 100% closed. What do you think I played in New World? Musket/Bow :D
    This is looking worse than Minecraft. It may look amazing but having good GFX alone is not going to make people play and stay.
    MC has bosses, something PD does not. And PvP....you drop everything everytime you die so enemies can you collect it.
    Even if you have lots of mats but forced to re-craft entire gear once you die? Hard pass. We already got plenty of building/survival games. There has to be more than just building (and bad pvp design). A game called Hytale is in the works. Basicly Minecraft but with A LOT more content, more bosses, mobs, buildings, weapons, dungeons, caves, hidden treasures etc.

    Pricing on this early access is insanely high. If you read the fine print, on top of the initial fee, they will start charging a monthly sub, which is ridiculous for a game with no content. Warning to all who want to try this game, I got bored in the Wilderness Alpha after a couple of days. There is absolutely nothing to do besides very grindy, time consuming survival gathering, unbalanced crafting and very limited building on your tiny plot (there are only a couple of building sets). @@liamjonasscale LOL, Come tell me about it after you play it for a month or so. You can't defend this game, so you're obsessing on one small part of what I said about the plot size. The fact that the game, and I use the term loosely, is over priced for the total lack of content, was my main topic. I just bought Soulmask for $26.99. It's EA and a fully fleshed out game with tons to do; taming fighting companions and workers for your base that you can eventually control like mind control, taming pets, mounts and farm animals, detailed farming with crop plots, seeds, fertilizer, etc., POI's with progression upgrades, etc., npc's and npc camps with loot, a very detailed and in-depth crafting system, huge building system and you don't have to pay for plots, free alts. I'm only in my second day playing so I haven't even scratched the surface of what it contains. Compare that to PD and tell me it's worth the price. They even announced they would have no story line, no npc's, no content because they wanted it to be totally "Player Created Content" What a way to sell an empty game and make it sound legit. "Oh look! You, the players will make this game great! YOU will create your unique world in our blank-slate game." They had to say that to cover their butts when the bad press hits hard. Initially, my nose was a bit out of shape about paying for a game that is not finished and I didn’t like the idea of paying to help them test. Then, I sat down and looked at it from another angle. The talk is “early access”, I say “investor” and think it would have been a better approach. Crowd funding is something that folks understand. Then I reviewed what I pay per month for the games with a subscription. At $15/month x 6 months plus would get you at the top tier they outlined. Do I think that I would play for 6 months and enjoy it? Yes. I have played Alpha1 & 2. If this game is not your cup of tea, definitely don’t buy in. Or, if you are need to see more, don’t buy in. Understandable. My biggest concern is that they may have reduced the number of people willing test by tying it to dollars. I would rather they offered “investors” in game benefits as a thank-you and kept the next testing phase open to all.

    Paying for extra plots not pay to win? I would disagree.. I tried one of the play test and the plots are rather small for how grindy is the game. Mixing the reality with video games... That's sad. Video games should be different and yes, I believe players should pay the same price and get the same content. You want to be better than other players? Do it in game and not with your wallet.

    As much as I wanted to see Pax Dei do well, I'm now disappointed. Greed from investors destroys all potential in far too many games. Pax Dei isn't ready and even the 40$ package is too much for a early access left click game. Combat will need to be changed and more actually content needs to be added. I know this is sandbox, but this game is empty. But, time will tell all.

    I personally think ....when you pay to get to a level of the game that may or may not be monetization on any level is a piss poor way of a title development ! I have played many games from different developers in many genre. Like New World.... folks got greedy instead of being inventive on how to make a repetitive money transaction. I would show the stuff first then possibly consider charging something just for the soul reason others are willing to pay for it as well.... Go down that road and ur like every other developer out there!.... CROOKED AS HELL. Now ask yourself are u willing to put that price tag on it! Man its like watching the gaming industry fall into some sort shit storm of money hawging! I know they been doing it for years already! Sorry Jay.... Just to compare this EA to another. I just bought Soulmask, which is still in EA, and it's light years beyond Pax Dei. They have tons of fully fleshed out systems; you can capture and utilize helpers to do daily chores and fight with you; you can tame pets, mounts and farm animals; there's a complete farming system with farm plots, seeds and workers to tend them; a huge, open-world building system, very in depth and detailed crafting system, clans, tribes and alliances, and one of the best progression systems I've ever seen. This is only from my 2nd day of playing. I haven't scratched the surface of the map or dungeons, POI's, etc...of which there looks to be lots. This game only cost me $26.99. No tiny plots, your base can be huge at no extra cost. No extra cost for alts either.

    You want to "win"? (Whatever that means in this game - I guess PvP?) Join a big clan. Solo and duos are not going to be winners in that regard and they will get the most benefit from the extra plots if they want to have all crafting and processing stations.
    Mainframe is telling people if you're in a clan just buy the lowest tier because connected plots expand - each plot is bigger when connected - so generally a clan is going to have enough space with one plot per player.

    It doesn't seem like this will be a great game; it appears to be a mishmash of Unreal Engine Asset packs. Just by glancing through their screenshots, one can see designs that are centuries apart. For instance, there's a screenshot where a building in the background is made of clearly shaped stone blocks, while on the right side, there's a rough stone wall supporting an intricate wooden gazebo. These architectural styles are from different eras and shouldn't be in the same setting. It looks as though they've simply searched for old designs without considering the time periods they represent.

    I sunk a lot of hours into the alpha and all I did was build. I didn't even explore, engage in combat or craft too much. I have no issue paying some money to be able to play it more to experience the rest of whats there currently. Everything to come after that over the next year is a free plus. I was honestly bummed when the alpha ended because I couldn't sink into the other systems in time. I gave a lot of feedback during the test too. But I like being in early in things so im tolerant to it and understand others either arent, or cant spare the money for something unfinished. There will be a good chunk of us who will do the deed for others and help build the game and it's a bummer to see others who dont really try anything out or experience it for themselves drag out people trying to build something cool. If you buy it and get burned thats one thing or if reviews are out and others are getting burned thats another. Lets stop being shitty to each other and devs....
