Eric could play the guitar, Ginger could play the drums, but Jack was Cream, and this is undoubtedly one of their best songs!
They all were Cream.
@@dhala54 true, but Jack wrote the majority of the songs, without him 🤔
@@glennwlove If you replaced any of the members of Cream, it would not be Cream.
you almost have to include pete brown as a member, just for his song-writing contributions.
@@brucemacnaughton3602 agreed.
The purity of Jack was, especially, his voice. Vocally controlled, balanced & developed over the years, he was a trailblazing delight.
A true gem from a land, Scot’s Gaelic acknowledges as a little gem, land wise.
Priceless, Jackie. Your were/are just priceless.
Jane Russell
Jack was the best all-around musician of our generation. Seeing him on-stage was one of the most important highlights of my life. The man was a full blown genius.
Missed seeing him live TWICE! Once at the Half Moon in Putney (his plane was late) and also in Den Haag (I have to leave to get the last train back to Haarlem)
Lucky!!!
Agree with you totally. The power of Jack’s voice could only fully be appreciated live - it hit the audience with force - truly melodic,
Jane Russell
The greatest musical artist in my lifetime ❤
What a beautiful voice Jackie had, his voice just soared!
Apart from being an accomplished musician, he was a great ambassador for Glasgow, Scotland,
God bless you, Jack Ascher Bruce,
JaneR
What a find. I've always wanted to hear Jack play this since the Cream version. And here it is after all these years. In great sound quality with Jack in great form. Wow!
Fyi , there is a live clip from even later years on YT.
Great song by the goat..miss you jack
Love the smile at the end.. he knew he crushed that song! What a voice.
Just beyond words. The mighty JB.
As Norman Beaker said to me ounce at a gig, Jack's head was full of magic. He was right,RIP Jack.
Sometimes I feel pretty good about my music, and I do BUT...then along comes a guy like Jack Bruce and puts me in my place.
In my belief, one of the most beautiful male voices from the 1960+
RIP Jackie, still love listening to you singing.
Thanks for this clip of JAB at his best.
JaneR
his vocal vibrato is so incredible
Most harmonically interesting of all of Jack's songs. Always loved this. Thanks for posting
I always imagine Jimmi Oage listening to this dong , to get inspired to write Friends ( Led Zep III )...! WE
OMG what a song! Bruce is just brilliant, Brown lyrics go so well with the music. I'd say it's the best song he made with cream.. There's an odd part, like going thru a door that leads you somewhere, elsewhere you can't describe, only feel...
Wow one of my favourite Cream songs, I can’t wait!
Jack created this post-Cream
@@petermacknowledge Mr. Knowledge. Did you mean Pre-Cream? Because technology is good but being able to insert a song onto an analog master after an LP is pressed and distributed still isn't possible.
@@petermacknowledge nope, the original version is on Wheels of Fire. Jack played all instruments on it.
@@petermacknowledge track 4, side 1
A masterful performance from Jack, a man in complete control of his art.
Beautiful, Jack:❤😍
So great; this is a weird and inaccessible song but it's one of my favorites from Jack Bruce anyway. It's great to see him playing it live and playing the rhythm guitar part to boot!
The great Jack . He could play almost anything .
beautiful - Extraordinary, powerful
He was magic !
Yes he was & in his days with Cream he took no shit off Ginger & from what i read & hear coming from Clapton they fought all the time yet still made music history .
Great performance. I always loved this song. I wasn't aware, he probably played all the instruments on the studio version.
Total privilege to see him do that. Wow. A masterpiece.
Wonderful! One of my favorites
INCREDIBLE !!
The Wonderful Jack Bruce!!! This is a beautiful composition!!!
Jack Bruce was the driving force behind cream and that's just the facts and sang most of the songs
Yeah. My personal favorite. I was floored the 1st time I heard this....still resonates w/ me. Jack's voice is incredibly powerful and spot on. One of the best vocalists in R&R. He was a classically trained cellist in the beginning I believe
This song is in its own category. Thank you Jack!
Always liked this song
A rare chance to see Jack on the guitar. One of my favourites on “Wheels of Fire”, a song which gave a preview of his solo career. Exciting.
Brilliant composition
Certainly one of the greatest rock musicians we have seen & heard , he was a true musical genius with one unmistakable voice . I never saw Cream but i did get the chance to see Jack with West Bruce & Laing back in 72 at Constitution Hall in Washington CD. We miss him dearly , his vocals , writing style & of course that awesome grasp of how to play an instrument. This was really very cool to see as you don't see him play guitar all that much & he's a good as hell guitar player which here is more than apparent . Loved this track off Wheels Of Fire.
The weirdest song on Wheels of Fire. I still love it!
Each additional chorus changes, extends, adds something… difficult scales to sing, too…
Brilliant! This music changed my life.
Phenomenal bass player, great singer, legend. Anyone else heard him with Leslie West and Corky Laing on the album “ Why Dontcha”??
Of course! Mostly a terrific album. "Out Into the Fields" and "Pollution Woman" were tremendous songs, would have been right at home on "Harmony Row."
For sure! Ripping album. The live album is a cracker as well!! Jack one of the greatest of all time.
absolutely genius.
Flashback to the 60's for sure. I was having an LSD relapse. Totally psychedelic images of oil, water and food coloring vibrantly pulsing in my mind's eye 👁️ what a rush.
I never get tired of listening......
Magnificent
Jack was a TITAN! He could and DID do it all and on a high level, there was an INTEGRITY about him that very FEW ever have, those of us who saw him in bands like CREAM count ourselves fortunate!
This is wonderful Thank you for posting
Tremendous.
Thank you, Fam 🥰
rip Jack your such an inspiration.
Jack’s singing voice was always beautiful, I think, however, as he matured he acquired a richer tone. Just mesmerised. Jane
I saw him do that exact song - as the set-opener at The Bottom Line Club in NYC - 2 months earlier that year. It was fantastic - as was this version.
Absolutely brillant
Fantastic ! WE
Nice! I see you found it. 😊
❤😍😍😍🙌👌👏
A remarkable song. I know of no other song remotely like it. One doesn't notice upon first listening to it on Wheels Of Fire (at least I didn't), but each chorus is subtly different. When I tried to play it, I was like "Holy sh*t!" I'm glad there is finally a clear, good copy of this performance on here.
WOWWW
Saw him play live in Dundee. Fantastic.
Fantastic, First time I have heard this, cheers
Lyrics by Peter Brown
Pete and Jack were so synergetic together. I loved 'em both and miss them terribly.
❤
I was an arms length as BLT jammed, but would have loved to see him play this. Thanks
What chords are those?
What tuning is that guitar in? It sounds great, and his voice like butter.
If I'm not mistaken, it is D A D F# A D, an open D tuning. It allows the guitarist to play the cello part along with the mostly droning rhythm (as you can see, with Jack sliding up and down the fretboard).
What tuning has he got that guitar in?
DADGAD i believe. He learned it from Richie Havens..
While it's true that Jack learned the open tuning employed in this song from Richie Valens, I believe that Valens typically used open D tuning: DADF#AD. However, as you correctly state, this is in DADGAD tuning.
@@dmhughdie I would suggest that it's actually DADF#AD, an open D tuning. If you try to play the song, I believe you will find that tuning works much better than DADGAD.
I thought this was going too be a video! :(
It is! Hope you can see it now ❤
@@ArubaRedOfficial Yes!!!!
Where is/are the Violoncello/i?
@@thomasr.5784 Jack played both on the original recording but not at the same time 😆
@@ArubaRedOfficialHe had many talents, but not enough arms ;-)
Does anyone Know What guitar he is Playing ? That headstocik appears t9 be a Yamaha :"??
Who are the other musicians ? WE
I love Jack Bruce & his music & voice most not Eric
Does this feel a bit like 90's american grunge/alternative, reminds me of stp , alice in chains , smashing pumpkins, soungarden
Nein, zu dritt Eric , Jack , Ginger - da waren sie unschlagbar. Keiner nahm dem Anderen etwas weg . Das war / ist Cream.
He's no Pete Townshend.
🤢🤮
