this warms my heart because i played club volleyball for 5 years, starting in 8th grade. i love how universal some of these cheers are and i’m so happy that club volleyball is continuing on with more generations of girls
My friend who plays vb with me thought sideout was sign out until at one game recently I told her what it was 😂. I also love our block cheer whenever we get a block we all go OOOOOOOOO in a deep voice with or hands above our head like Frankenstein
I’m a setter on my middleschool team and we also have specific cheers 💀💀 1. Pregame cheer ; We basically just put our hands in the middle and yell our school name ✨ 2. Playing against a higher ranked team and getting a point ; We shake our hands in excitement and sometimes do the fist bump from Big hero 6 3. In a heated match but scoring a point ; we jump up and down and give high fives to whoever is closest, but very quick high-fives so we don’t disturb the flow of the game 4. Playing against a lower ranked team and scoring ; we nod at each other and usually pat each other on the backs 5. After game (loss) ; we congratulate the other team on their win and run around each other in circles for no reason while drinking water 6. After game (win) ; We fist bump each other and congratulate the other team as well because it was a very good match 😅
*not sure if this is your team but this is what mine does* The Alligator Chomp as you called is used for when the team serves the ball and they get the point within one touch or less of the other side, also known as an ace
I hated volleyball but you and your daughter had me curious and I decided to try out for school team, and it was a really good decision. I'm not perfect but I lot better than what I used to be. TYYYYYY!!!💗💗💗
My 8th grade year we had 8 girls out for volleyball and our first ace cheer was “ace ace in your face” but when we were playing against some high schoolers (pk-12 school) there was one that laughed but said we shouldn’t do it and our coaches agreed so then we changed it to “A-C-E ace” with jumps and stomps
I never paid attention to stuff like that when watching my brothers games. What I do pay attention is the verbal cheers/ harassment. Here's some of the top of my head (some of them are incredibly mean. Some of them are funny) also note I'm german so I'm translating: -let's go (team acronym) and then clapping/ banging on a wall (German: los geht's (akronym) -yelling libero when the libero loses a point (ouch) -a similar one that's basically "your team lost a point and its all your fault, your fault" -when the opposing team calls a timeout (and I think only then?) They say "emergency session" (G: KRISENSITZUNG) -just yelling "the fridge" (no I don't get this one either (G: DER KÜHLSCHRANK) -why are out opponents so quiet? When they stop cheering (G: WARUM IST DER GEGNER DEN SO LEISE?) -a snippet from a german song that, translated, basically goes "avenue, avenue, yes that is an avenue. A street, many trees, yes that is an avenue " (G: listen if you're german and you need a translation for this one, I don't believe you) And my all-time favourite: -plain and simple yelling their teams 6 syllables, 19 letter name, very loudly in a somewhat deepened voice.
I played volleyball and. We never got it over the net more than once granted it was our first year but our coaches wanted ncaa level we were 9 but i know funny cheers we have a girls named Reese It goes Reeses pieces peanut butter cup mess with her shell mess u up its only when she pitches and the funny one is we got a girl on 3 and she has to pee
