- You will love making all sizes of fabric baskets after watching this video. with new and easy method , a few straight stitches and a few minutes of your time, you will have a beautiful basket for yourself, You can use this basket for many things like candies , dinner rolls, cookies, Picnic basket, utensils holder , gift basket, sewing room items, fabric, thread pools. and best of all you can increase or decrease the sizes without any problem
This basket I cut 12" X 16" so if you want to make it bigger you can increase the measurements like 16" X 20" as long as the first measurement is 4" smaller than the second measurement, the corners is all up to you you can go up between 1/2" to 1" depend on how big your basket is
Or you can cut 16" x 16" if you want a square basket

I love your humor! I really like how you made it easier to sew the lining to the main fabric. You are very clever! My husband got me a few sewing goodies from temu. The magnet seam guide was less than a dollar! You should jump on the bandwagon and do a temu haul video.

I love how you made this from 2 pieces of fabric, it's so much easier for me--cutting fabric can take up a lot of time! My brain probably looks like a buch of crumpled fabric too!
How cute!! You do such a wonderful job of explaining, and you have wonderful shortcuts. I learned to cut each fabric and interfacing by itself, using 3 steps, then iron the interfacing on. Doing it your way is much easier!

Great project and tutorial Vivian! I can use these kinds of baskets when I get my RV, and even while I still try to organize & downsize before I move.
I've seen one of the RV families I follow on UA-cam make a cloth basket out of a small rug thing that Dollar Tree had, but I can't find those. She didn't sew them, but used hot glue, which for as how thick they are was a good choice. However, I like your basket better, because it's washable, and easier to customize.
I just had a thought to make the basket have a more firm bottom, plus help it stay cleaner, depending on what you put in it. Once the basket is finished, add a cut-to-size piece of thick acetate, a piece of flexible plexiglass, a piece of thin venir, or a piece of sturdy cardboard to the inside bottom. That way if you've put a handle on it, whatever you're carrying in it won't bow down in the bottom. Handle or not, the basket should sit more level even if you have different shaped things in it.

A freak squall blew in an hour and a half ago with crazy wind, snow & sleet that dropped the temps at least 10°. It lasted about 15 minutes, then sun came back out. It's still crazy windy and colder though. That's Rocky Mountain weather this time of the year. Winter & Spring like to have duals for several months. Hope your snow melts quickly for you. Take care.

Good morning Vivian, What a great idea for small fabric pieces and fat quarter's. I sometimes buy the rolled up fabric from the dollar and quarter tree when they have 4 of the same. I have no room in my small apt for a sewing th so I use my dining th and table. I need all the ideas for space saving. Do you have any others? Hope your back is feeling better. I have had 2 back surgeries, disk and herniated neither were fun. Listen to your doctor, very important. Stand up and bend over dropping your arms down with your head and just hang there bounce up and down gently. Then stand up slow.. Have a chair by you just in case. This will help your lower back and upper back by stretching and pulling your vertebra, so your muscles and nerves are not pinching. Walking is great and not being in same position for long time. If I got on the floor, I could never get up.
By the way your hands are not wrinkly, no need to iron them😃
Lol Connie,, the iron and the winkle,, about the space, I just helped my friend organized her very small room . I bought a storage bench for her to place so much of her sewing items in there and closed the top to sit as a bench also her sewing table is her dining table too. The storage bench can be found at Walmart. Instead of using chairs now she has 2 storage benches, 1 on each side

You're an awesome teacher. I was wondering can I use foam in place of the interfacing for some stability? or do you think it may be to thick to use?
I bet you could use foam or cotton batting. Foam would be firmer, but cotton batting would be similar to interfacing but thicker.
Wonderful! I would use foam because it’s cheap and hold the shape well too. Or cheaper if you use thick felt fabric ( you can find at any craft stores)
