Hans Zimmer and Bryan Adams KILLED IT with Spirit's score and soundtrack! Shaped my childhood. I'm still jamming out to "Get Off My Back" 20 years later!
Same.
Yup they did
Same
That and Wall-E are my two top childhood movies. Absolutely adore the soundtrack 🥺💖💖
@@kmb7257 wall E is good!
Literally the entire Prince of Egypt soundtrack just goes so hard!
Exactly.
I agree
it does
You ain’t wrong there. Especially with Ralph Fiennes singing (AKA Lord Voldemort). Like, what?! Who knew he could sing?! (In case you’re wondering, he sings as Rameses in “The Plagues”.)
@@saphiro007 what??????? I gotta google this! Voldemort was in Prince of Egypt??????
Spirit is 20 years old?! Oh my god noooo😭 I absolutely loved that movie! And still seeing it as an adult. It just hits all the feels!
Yep. The mustang who couldn't be broken has come a LONG way in 2 decades.
The soundtrack is still amazing to this day, as is the movie.
If it hadn’t been that it went up against Spirited Away that year, I’m sure it would have won Best Animated Feature.
Spirit is one of my favourites ❤
Omg I watched this film religiously growing up. If I had to chose a movie to watch for the rest of my life it would be Spirit or Lilo and stitch
Yes! I'd watch it every day as a kid! It sparked my love for horses, and I still jam to the soundtrack to this day!
The soundtrack to Spirit was and still is an incredible album, even without the film. I highly recommend listening to the album, even if you haven't seen the film. It is so good
It really is ^^ Something I love is that the music and songs were specifically created in order to tell the story and be the voice of the main character since they decided to not take the Disney route and have talking animals. There aren't many soundtracks I can name that can make me feel emotions as freshly as when I heard them the first time; "Fallen Rain" is a big example, I still feel the dread, agony, and anger that piece delivers
Listened to that album and have seen that movie so many times since I was a kid, trust me! XD EEP! :)
@@myladynaynay exactly. I love that about it because the music is basically the emotion and if you pay attention you can tell what spirit is saying by the horse sounds. And it's one of the first drawing and computer animation. I love how they used transitions
@@lunamiddleton2662 I never noticed as a kid, but now as an adult with a decent amount of art education, I can pick out when it switches between 2D and 3D :) One place you'll see it happen multiple times at once is in the beginning of "This Is Where I Belong", just after the fight with the cougar - especially when he runs up the hill and the camera does a 360 angle on him :)
This was one of the first movie soundtracks I ever bought and have not regretted it.
You know you are a millennial when you instantly cry to Spirit 💔😭
All of The Prince of Egypts songs were intense and God tier, they went so hard on that movie, Disney cannot compete
I'm gen z, but that has always been and always will be my favorite movie
This^^^^^
Spirit is definitely for us gen z folks
"Prince of Egypt is _God_ tier..." I see what you did there hah
I'm gen z, and I love Spirit
Prince of Egypt’s soundtrack is by far one of the best movie soundtracks ever created
dudeee😢❤️
Yeah, all thanks to Hans Zimmer who compose the score and Stephen Schwartz wrote the songs.
yup
It hits as hard as when I watched it as a child
@@Gayredheadbitch94 that movie was like no other 🤲
The whole Spirit album went harder than it had to. And, while "Here I Am" is great, I think that "Get Off of My Back" was better.
Talk about one of the best fight songs of all time! "You Can't Take Me" is a close second to that too :)
@@myladynaynay "You can't take me, I'm free" Cue lightning, Chills every. time.
Sound the Bugle now, gets me every time
@@bingecore7422 Same it is my favorite song of the whole album
Came here to say this, i expected get off my back to be the song choice as much as i sung it as a child
I'm glad you guys gave some love to Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron. This was not only my all time favouritre animated film growing up as a kid, but it was also the first film I ever saw in theaters...so this film will always have a special place in my heart. All of the songs from that film were amazing, and I'm happy that you chose Here I Am for this list since it was outstanding. Thank You.
Spirit was also the first movie I saw in theaters when they recorded Here I Am they said to Brian Adams to be really natural and the first line he gave them was here I am
I love spirit too
same I can relate to the music soooooooo much. "I will always return" relates to me because my elementary school was literally my mom away from home 14 years later it is still my home I walk behind the school it backs into a field I play that song while walking my dogs. "I will always return" to my home school. I have a work friend who kids go to that school so I talk a lot about stories in that school. I also would run into the field from the school at recess with Bryan Adams "Here I Am" song in my head when I was in grade 1-2 pretending I was Spirit.
Sigh what I would do to go back 20 years and be a kid again
It’s too bad that Schaffrillas Productions ranked this movie so low because of the music
@@jessicas2379 me too.. love both the two versions😁😁
Madagascar's version of Move It! is an absolute BANGER! DreamWorks definently knew what they were doing with this song.
Respectfully disagree
The original version of I like to move it was made by Reel 2 Reel and the mad stuntman in 1993
I know I like it too, I rewatch Madagascar for the song sometimes
@@fizzythefox5944 I have to kindly say L take
DreamWorks: One of the most underrated company’s in history.🙏
Soooo true. They’ve made so many great stuff
Indeed.
My favorites are:
• Trolls
• Shrek
• Kung Fu Panda
• Madagascar
And
• Spirit: The Stallion of the Cimarron
I don’t think they’re underrated. However, some of their earlier movies definitely are.
Definitely not underrated lmao
I will never forget Spirit, I was 10 years old then. I love the songs I Will Always Return, Get Off My Back, You Can't Take Me, and Here I Am. I can still sing them by heart 😂
same
Same!!
Hell yeah!
When I have kids, I'd want them to watch and know this movie which made my childhood full of memories
@@yasuie2232 agreed!
My favourite DreamWorks songs are:
5.- Car Wash.
4.- Here I am.
3.-I Need a Hero.
2.-Deliver Us.
1.- I like to Move it.
Honorable Mention:
KUNG FU FIGHTING from the Kung Fu Panda franchise (all versions)
The prince of Egypt's "Through heaven's eyes" had absolutely no reason to go THAT hard
AMEN!!!
cough cough *"PLAGUES"*
A lot of people have mentioned how awesome Prince of Egypt and Spirit’s albums were overall, but The Road to El Dorado also had an amazing soundtrack front to back. Tim Rice and Elton John did so good with the lyrics, the instrumentals, so wonderful.
I was like, Who TF doesn't remember Road to Eldorado? That, Spirit and the Dragon trilogy are my favorite Dreamworks movies. But Spirit has to be my all time favorite animated western film simply for how well it tells a story with so little dialog and still tugs on your heart strings. It's Peak Animation and story telling. Something Disney has forgotten.
Don't forget Hans Zimmer
Finally "Joseph King Of Dreams" deserves a little attention while it is not a commercial success like "The Prince of Egypt" but it shows DreamWorks really cared about adaptation more Bible story into animation.
Unfortunately, it pales in comparison to renditions of the story of Joseph like the Broadway masterpiece JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAM COAT. 👀
I love thiiiis, No one is Recognising Joseph movie.. I’ve loved it and every song in it my whole life
More Than You Take was a great song
@@kingslayerpete_9287 it was, that one and Better than I were my favourites in the movie
These DreamWorks songs are some of the absolute greatest in history, true they had no business being as jaw dropping amazing as they are but they still became our jams when we were growing up!!!
Uh, the trolls movie? Come on! It not only ruined MY taste of music, but everybody I asked that has apparently seen the movie, it got ruined for them too. That is in fact also the only reason why I stopped listening to pop and have not chosen a single pop song on a playlist since 2016! Yes, that’s how bad Trolls is! Hell, I would say it’s WORSE than emoji movie! And that cost potentially one of the best movies, and made all the actors but mainly the writer/developer, look bad.
Well said, Mr. Dragon. 🎶
There is no way i would forget Spirit: The Stallion of the Cimarron 🥰 I would watch it over and over again!❤ I love the songs, story, characters, and horses ❤️❤️
same
Best film ever even better than its copycat “movie and series”
@@magicalmoments6409 omg the copycat version ugh so horrible
@@magicalmoments6409Agree! They completely ruined it with the so-called “sequels”. What were they thinking?! Spirit didn’t really need a sequel; it was already perfect as it was. Or at least if it did need a sequel, it should’ve at least been on par with the first movie!
@@shylavenderfr. even spirit’s fanbase actually made a perfectly fan-made sequel. The 2002 didn’t need spirit riding free or spirit untamed, it was perfect by itself
There is SO MANY Spirit:Stallion of the Cimarron comments and I love it! It's not mentioned often and is mostly resonates with horse lovers or who watched it DAILY! Here I Am, Get Off My Back, Sound the Bugle is *chefs kiss*! Along with all the others in the movie!😩😍
My personal favorite pieces from the movie are "Swimming" and "Reunion (Love Found Us)" ^^
Picking only one song from either Spirit or Prince of Egypt is almost impossible to me. they all slap so freaking hard! I need to go listen to both of them right now immediately!
Spirit is one of the only movie soundtracks I have on my phone and I listen to the songs all the time, they're so good!! The movie is amazing and the soundtrack...anytime I feel down or discouraged I can put it on and I'm back with a vengeance, a spirit that cannot be broken ❤
same! Great workout songs
Same
My wife and I always sing along to “For the Dancing and the Dreaming”. And thanks for including that Peter Hollens clip. I’m a fan.
I love Peter and his music videos too
I’ll strive to have a relationship like this ^-^
The Road to El Dorado was masterpiece of music!
Who else cried when "Here i am" came on?
I squealed so loudly my sister came to see if I was hurt lol
The entirety of the Prince of Egypt is a masterpiece honestly. 😩❤️
Indeed
While I agree with the songs on this list I cannot help but feel it's missing something...Sound the bugle by Bryan Adams from spirit stallion of the cimarron
To me that song didnt have to go that hard...it comes at a point when spirit longs to be back with his family and serves as a reminder that no matter how hard things get we gotta keep fighting "yeah you're a soldier now fighting in a battle to be free once more yeah that's worth fighting for" the song tells a deep story of someone who lost it all including the will to keep going all while trying to remember how they use to be as the seasons change...the song delivers an emotional gut punch that doesnt relinquish its intensity and it doesnt leave a dry eye
From on high somewhere in the distance. There's a voice that calls remember who you are. If you lose yourself your courage soon will follow. So be strong tonight. Remember who you are. I always got chills.
@@kellharris2491 I get the waterworks when listening to that song ^^ it's such an amazing song..scratch that it's such an incredible song and Bryan Adams did an incredible job bringing the emotional power
Spirit being in the train car and thinking he saw his family in the white out weather made of snow was just 😭💔
"I'm a soldier wounded so I must give up the fight. There's nothing more for me. Lead me away, or leave me lying here."
That part 😭😭😭
@@myladynaynay "without a light I fear that I will stumble in the dark, lay right down decide not to go on"
This part as well 😭😭
I love that Spirit got some overdue recognition & love! Yes, I'm a horse girl -- but it's a film that beautifully captures the idea of freedom!
I loved Over The Hedge. We got Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Avril Lavigne, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, Eugene Levy, and many more all in one movie.
Exactly it's so good I watch it all the time Hammy is my favorite character
I'm disappointed that "Where No One Goes" didn't make the list. That scene with Hiccup and Toothless flying together is one of my favorite scenes ever from a film considering how deep their friendship goes. One of the most epic and emotional songs ever.
That scene is quite enrapturing.
I have adored both Spirit and Prince of Egypt since I was a kid and have watched them both countless times, even as an adult. The animation, the storytelling, and of course the absolutely phenomenally outstanding soundtracks were all just perfection. Those movies give me all the feels and I can’t help singing along every time!
Overall, a pretty solid list. Other than picking songs that weren’t actually written specifically for the films (ex: I Like to Move It). Especially when it bumps a truly massive banger like Jónsi’s “Where No One Goes” from HTTYD2 from this list! That song completely sets the mood for the entire film.
Yes or together from afar is also soo good
Holding out for a hero is one of my favourite songs because of Shrek 2. I knew the song before, but this rendition is just too good. Shrek 2 is still one of my absolute favourite films that I've watched way too many times, and one I'd the main reasons is that song.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron is one of my favorite animated movies. I cry like, every time. Such good music, animation, characters, story. So good!
Same
Once again like I always say 'DELIVER US' is truly one of my most favorite musical opening in an animated movie way better then 'CIRCLE OF LIFE'.
LET'S be real, the whole soundtrack for the Prince of Egypt goes hard, and I appreciate it.
Hans Zimmer again 🙊🙊
Spirits whole soundtrack hit hard. Absolutely one of my favorite soundtracks and I always listen to it and EVERY SINGLE TIME they always hit hard!
0:37 For the dancing and the dreaming - How To Train Your Dragon 2
1:56 You know better than I - Joseph: King of Dreams
3:25 Heist - Over The Hedge
4:37 Car Wash - Shark Tale
6:04 It's Tough To Be A God - The Road to El Dorado
7:26 I like to move it - Madagascar
8:47 Here I Am - Spirit: Stallino of the Cimarron
10:13 Can't Stop The Feeling - Trolls
11:32 Holding Out For A Hero - Shrek 2
12:16 Deliver Us - The Price Of Egypt
Disney soundtracks vs DreamWorks soundtracks: which is better?
When you consider Spirit, Prince of Egypt and Shrek, vs the likes of Frozen, Lion King and Aladdin, it's a VERY close battle.
And Kung Fu Fighting? I love that song is such a groove
DreamWorks 100% will always beat Disney cuz they put more feeling and more work into their movies
No “Good Tonight” from “The Bad Guys”? That’s another banger from a Dreamworks animated film and Anthony Ramos just kills it with his powerful vocals.
The Spirit soundtrack was electric. I do believe though that the opening theme was actually homeland, used in the scene following the eagles flight before ole espy had the hero.
I could tell tales of my childhood with Prince of Egypt and Spirit. BOTH HIT HARD
Came here because I saw Spirit in the thumbnail.
Same here dude
Same. Favorite DreamWorks movie ever!
Same flying? there times when I believed I coul
Me too!
Same lol!
Great list! "through heaven's eyes" is also amazing!
It really is
it is
The whole movie of Spirit didn’t have to go that hard, add the music and holy cow!
All the songs/music of Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron is amazing. Prince of Egypt is beautifully done
I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE , Shrek’s soundtrack will always be my favorite
spirit makes me cry in the end of the movie 😢😭
I actually cheered out loud, pushing my fist in the air, when The Prince of Egypt came on as No. 1. I was kind of expecting and definitely hoping for a song from Dreamwork‘s masterpiece. While I love Shrek with everything that I am, nothing can top what they created with The Prince of Egypt.
But honestly, I wouldn’t be able to decide for the Top 1 if it should be Deliver Us or The Plagues. The Plagues are intense and thrilling and just so, so, so good with Moses and Ramses duetting with the choir in the background. Ugh. Genius cinematography! 😭 (Also, if you want to hear those songs (especially Deliver Us and The Plagues) in an even more intense and goosebumps inducing version, check out the German language soundtrack of the movie. I promise, you won’t regret checking them out!)
I was genuinely expecting the whole Prince of Egypt soundtrack to be number 1 cuz they go so hard in each song! The plague song between the Pharaoh and Moses, Through Heavens Eyes, even the credits song “I Will Get There” was so unnecessarily hard and beautiful!!
I love the spirit movie the sound track is just beautiful oh and the graphics as well😊😊
I'm not heavily religious but whenever I hear both the soundtracks from Princess of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams the little Christian girl in me comes out and I sing from the top of my lungs ✨
Prince of Egypt deserved #1 but I was so glad Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron got some love!!!!!
Deliver Us is number one, twice in a row! Yes! I love Fridays. Love this movie so much, even the soundtrack
Saw Spirit in the thumbnail and immediately clicked! I’m actually going to watch it today for the first time in years because I found the DVD at my parents house. Absolute favourite movie. Also saw Bryan Adams in concert last week and he sang Here I Am. Best moment ever ❤
Spirit is Hans Zimmer's best score and I stand by it.
I stand with you ✊
Love that Peter Hollens' video for the dancing and dreaming was used for this.
I was hoping someone would mention that!
We need to see Top 10 Villian songs that did not need to go all out to be made immediately.
Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, and Spirit have amazing Soundtracks.
The Madagascar Franchise and it’s soundtrack is just so fun and amazing.
Hans Zimmer, Bryan Adams, and Matt Damon absolutely killed it. they were perfect for Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron
My favorite Spirit song is You Can't Take Me. That one, along with the thunder sounds and scenery is so epic!
Also, Deliver Us, definitely deserves that #1 spot. I watched Prince Of Egypt when I was very young, and that opening had me in tears.
You Know Better Than I got me crying every time! It’s beautiful. You can never go wrong with the 2D Dreamworks movies.
Sweet! I'm so glad that Joseph King Of Dreams finally got the attention it deserves both Joseph and Prince Of Egypt got a beautiful soundtracks.
Early DreamWorks movies, pure nostalgia
Here I Am is my song, it has been since I was a little kid.
Always loves spirit, not just because it came out on my birthday, but because the soundtrack to the story is just perfection
I felt that "The Plagues" from the prince of Egypt should've been an honorable mention. Because the song goes hard, especially when you add the visuals.
The Prince of Egypt was a masterpiece
Spirit has the best track list in the entire dreamworks movie soundtracks
Guys please I can’t be the only one that started legit BAWLING when Stoic started singing 😭 my heart can only take so much man-
I know all of these DreamWorks songs. Spirit, Madagascar and Prince Of Egypt have very good music songs. And this list is very nicely chosen.
1:59 personally with this song i have a strong memory.
My pastor used to tells to us when we were kids to be like him to not get influenced by the situation but been the influence of the situation. He was a great pastor and a great person and the day he died for a tumor he still had us the remember to not blame God for the situation he puts has Couse He always knows better than us and we just can't know what is His plans for us but we need to have faith and trust on him and we will see and know His glory.
The day he died i though on this song.
Ofra Haza was a true jewel taken from us far too soon. One of the things I treasure is her album 'Yemenite songs', that show her true range. She is the voice of the mother in Deliver Us.
That one song from Joseph king of dreams you know better than I always gives me goosebumps and makes me cry 😢 every time it’s such a beautiful song and hits the deepest part of your heart and soul every time
The road to El Dorado has some of my favorite animated movie music.
The Prince of Egypt will always be my favorite dreamworks movie. Deliver Us is a wonderful opening but my favorite song from that movie is definitely Heaven Eyes, it makes me want to get up and dance along.
I’m surprised “Test Drive” didn’t make it to the list, it was amazing. I also was so glad Spirit made it to the list. Most of these songs I grew up with I still love to this day.
For The Dancing and The Dreaming is one of my favorite Dream Works movies. I also love the Songs from Road To El Dorado.
I am so happy so many of the comments are about Spirit 😍🥰 getting the love it deserves and more! The entire movie didnt have to go that hard YET THEY DID! GODBLESS! Spirit was the first movie that moved me to my core when i was a child and ignited my love for filmmaking and storytelling. I wouldn't be me without Spirit
Spirit was my introduction to Matt Damon & what got me into horses.
Forget those critics! No one judges my CHILDHOOD! I freaking love SharkTale! Man oh man, I love this song!
I even danced to this song in a special event for the talent show
The Prince Of Egypt and Joseph King Of Dreams are my favorite DreamWorks movies as they got wonderful songs that make you believe in the Lord.
As much as i loved (emphasis on "ed") Prince Of Egypt, with time i realised how utterly hypocritical the movie is, more like how hypocritical the actual story is. The first act is completely based on Moses finding out the massacre that his "father" caused based on religious purposes however in the middle and last act, when Moses returns to Egypt, he does just that but on a far far far, larger scale and kills hundreds of thousands of innocent lives for religious purposes. He couldn't have killed Ramses at first? Or just killed his son? Or just take away his son but keep him in a safe place but threaten Ramses with hurting him to get the permission and not cause any bloodshed? Or just not taking permission altogether as ...well, is god truly supreme if he needs permission to do things from a mortal? Is god really kind and loving if he is willing to easily kill off hundreds of thousands of innocent people in the most horrific ways possible without a single second thought? It really doesn't paint him in a good light. And it's not just the movie, which i still respect for its artistry, it's the story itself. God is a little fat egotistical c*nt who can't handle people with differing opinions, which at the end of the day aren't harmful and is willing to cause genocide easily.
If you felt that you needed to worship God after hearing this story then you are the same. You are a spineless, weak fool who won't stand up to an abusive sh*thead or you are just a horrible person and you love god because of His own horrific personality.
I have "Can't Stop The Feeling" as my alarm clock choice.
I can't denie the facts. When deliver us hits I always get chills.
Spirit is still to this day one of my favorite animation movies, and a big part of that is thanks to the songs. I'm even more amazed by Bryan Adams singing the English version as well as the FRENCH version which I grew with.
I love how it tells such an amazing story with so little dialog from the characters. It's Peak Animation talent with top tier story telling.
Gotta say tho, bells of notre dame and Deliver us both are some of the best opening songs to date.
I watched spirit and road to Eldorado, an Tarzan, religiously as a kid, and still do to this day, I love the soundtracks and plots and characters of both movies, always will be my top 3
Spirit always makes me cry especially this song 😭😭
Can’t believe ’Shine Your Way✨’ from The Croods didn’t even get a MENTION! 😭 it gives you such an uplifted feeling & the biggest smile on your face! 😊
“Good Tonight” from the Bad Guys should at least deserve an honorable mention, because the song is insanely catchy and it reveals that the character Mr. Piranha, is a good singer despite him being the most crazy member of the Bad Guys
That opening scene on Spirit always gets me every time. 😭😭
The entire Spirit soundtrack goes too hard to be fair
XD
you know better than i was literally my entire childhood, i memorized that song within a week and listened to it way too much. and will cry if i listen to it again but it's worth it cause that song is just
Over The Hedge is literally in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I still own it on dvd
I remember when I was 9 and my mom bought Spirit on DVD for me, ever since then I've loved horses and the spirit franchise
thank you Mom🐎
Spirit stallion of the Cimarron is the best movie ever and it had me sobbing during the train scene
We preformed “Can’t stop the felling” back in middle school, 😢those good old memories, and know I am in first year in college
Aww I wish Good Tonight from The Bad Guys could be there😭
Same
In case you haven't seen it, the Prince of Egypt is a must watch movie, one because its soundtrack is awesome, two because of its historical standpoint. Still love it to this day
Spirit was one of my childhood heros. All of those songs hit hard, and I can sing word for word every single one. Love how they used song to help narrate the movie.
The soundtrack for Spirit hits hard. I loved that movie growing up. When it comes to Prince of Egypt (and Joseph king of dreams) Their soundtracks are pretty much the greatest.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron has many godlike bangers, but for me, none of them can beat "CAN'T TAKE ME", I still jam to this song nowadays whenever I listen to it. It's pure gold.
The road to El dorado is so friggin good. One of the best movies I've watched. Honestly.
