Valuable Vessels II: Wine Cups Along the Silk Road

In this talk, Fan Zhang (Professor of Practice in Asian Art at Tulane University) offers an in-depth reading of a silver stem cup in Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection through the lenses of transmission, materiality and banquets. This silver cup is an embodiment of the transmission of art and culture along the Silk Road during the medieval period.
This talk was commissioned by the New Orleans Museum of Art.
