The lion represents the heroism of the Sri Lankan nation and the bo leaves represent the four Brahmas, Metta, Karuna, Mudita and Upekkha. Sri Lankan Muslims, Tamils and Malays draw similar shaped bars and burger-like snacks with a green strip. The dark red (blood color) background indicates the majority people, the Sinhalese. 🇱🇰

There are few things many tourists fail to follow when they come to 🇱🇰.
1. Where ever you go, don’t film anyone or their house or private space without their consent/permission. ⚠️ This is not 🇮🇳 🇧🇩 🇵🇰
2. Sri Lankans are friendly & hospitable but they don’t encourage hitchhiking culture, so try avoid asking for a lift at max. 🚗
3. Follow the simple traffic rules like wearing a helmet when riding a bike, seatbelt when riding a car. Crossing roads at Zebra crossing. (High Fines if you don’t). 🚫
4. When entering religious places/ temples try your best to remain silent when your vlogging & ask permission if recording is allowed. 📵
5. Don’t drink or smoke in public places and avoid littering at all cost. ♻️

@@cffgg720 Thank you. I was asking because 5 out of 7 Stupas of Buddha are located in Pakistan. I visited Dharmarajika stupa in TakShala (Taxila) recently. 70 kilometers from Islamabad.
That's where one of the earliest University from Gandhara Civilization exists. I was super amazed at the craftsmanship & sciences that were taught back then.

in 1:55, that guy said something wrong (some of them are true) Green represents Muslim people, orange represents Hindus and red represents Sinhalese and the blood that shredded in battles with European colonials in early days (Netherlanders, Portuguese then British). yellow border says the peace between those ethnic groups.
in 2:45, those soldiers represented the ancient army that we had in king's era (before colonials). also note that those guys are actually work for army and they're not natives (Veddas) or anything they just put those clothes to represent ancient ones.
idk the exact reason but the sri lankan "army" tend to design their stuff with some red and yellow. meanwhile air force and navy use blue variants

saying "Ayubowan" is kinda offensive to people who speaks primarily in Tamil (did you know that?). cuz, "Ayubowan" is a sinhala word to say "may you live longer" and tamils got their own word to bow/greet someone. it's "Wanakkam"
we ain't got a slogan for the entire country. but as one of the commenters said, we tend to make different slogans for different occasions. also, "Jaya wewa" means "may you achieve the victory" or something like that.

If I am at a restaurant and the owner comes over to greet me and talk while I am trying to enjoy diner.....and than starts touching me or my wife sons and daughters!!! He is getting knocked out!! Nobody touches me or my family! In most cultures it's not OK at all so may be Sri Lankans should adjust to the ENTIRE rest of the WORLD

BUT, we Srilankans are warm friendly people by nature, (not cold), which is one of the main attractions that draw visitors to our beautiful island, and we sometimes tend to do that meaning no harm, forgetting the visitors' ethics! Likewise would you ever see total strangers just barging into locals' homes, businesses or kitchens, violating their privacy in the Western countries' like all these backpacking tourists do in our part of the world, for content?? A definite NO right?? So.. one cannot have double standards only when it suits one ( not meaning you of course but in general)
