Hey thank you. I have a 525 I 2001 The fan / ac died I changed the blower motor resistor and went ahead and changed the sensor and have success. No more hot car! Thanks again
my E60 got 2F9A ambient temperature sensor , communication error code and my idle rough when warm. The temperature reading was fine and the rough idle is only happen on idle or stop at traffic light which kinda annoying, will replacing it soon.
I have problem with remote control. Where is the antenna signal module? I would try to change it (locking the door with key and buttton inside works and gm5 fine)
This is a sensor to advise the driver of the outside temperature which would be important in icy conditions. It is not connected to the engine management system so has no bearing on engine performance. You are confusing this with the coolant temperature sensor.
@DJ Hayes Your video was very useful in pointing out the location of the sensor for someone to fit an aftermarket one which I have done. Your problem there is likely a faulty thermostat or failing water pump or if only when idling, the fan motor.
do you know if this temp sensor would cause 'Limp Mode' we have an ongoing limp mode issue. Only ! comes on when 15 degress C and below. Over £5k worth of repairs at BMW so far !

Exactly my problem. Mine fell down and I ran it over....

Thanks mine fell out and I had no idea where it went back eventully zip tying it to the trim.
What if my bmw e46 04 has the sensor but doesn’t display any type of temperature at all ?
