    Thats it! For the life of me I couldn't remember! (My history teacher would be so disappointed!) The Queens Nose ruled! I still, from time to time, check my 50p's! Thanks for watching :D xx

    So basically, calling a pound a "quid" is a loose US equivalent of calling a dollar a "buck". I always wondered if a pound and a quid were the same thing.

    • @tblbaby
      @tblbaby 8 років тому

      quid swim in the ocean in a strait line, not in an S, like Squid ... see? once Quid are gone, you seldom see them again ....

    • @hugmuun
      @hugmuun 7 років тому

      well calling money bucks is kind of an outdated term normally we just call the dollars or just the amount in cash so It'd be say $6.05 dollars or wed just say the amount and that's it

    • @floofytown
      @floofytown 7 років тому +4

      Six point zero five dollars?? Yeah, no. Literally nobody says that. Six dollars and five cents maybe. I say "buck" all the time, as does everyone I can think of. Couple o' bucks. Twenty bucks. Got a buck for the vending machine? All the time. And I work retail and talk about money and prices all day long. If I'm giving someone their total, I wouldn't call it "one thousand two hundred sixty eight _bucks_ and eleven cents" or whatever, I'd say "twelve sixty eight eleven". But casually, buck is still a thing. Do you even live in the US?

    Thats great! Glad the sound quality wasnt as bad as I first thought!!! Coin collecting can be very rewarding so Im really glad this video help clarify some things for you. I do love accents and try feebly to do as many as I can! My Glaswegain accent is pretty rubbish to be honest but I love actors such as James McAvoy in "Filth" doing his! Thanks for watching!!!

    I am that perverse person! I love the American Accent! It makes everything sound more "Hollywood" like everyone is famous. I went on Holiday to America once when I was young and I had all these people getting me to say all these different words in my "accent" they were amused for hours!

    Hi, just so you know the 5 and 10p coins were bigger before to be the same size as the shilling and florin coins they were down sized in 1990 and 1992 you could also use the shilling and florins after decimal day until the 90s

    After watching quite a few ASMR videos I somehow cured myself from not having the sensation anymore… until this! I haven't ever 'given it myself' before by playing with sounds or anything, it's more of an accidental occurrence out and about or listening to someone talking. Anyway, hearing about the old money is interesting. I don't know much about it. When you got to the 50p I was thinking 'this is my favourite' (I just like the shape), and then you mentioned the queen's nose!! So glad someone else remembers this!

    Brilliant video and really interesting but a couple of points that I think you could have picked upon . I may be being a bit picky here but I thought it worth mentioning that the 5p and the 10p weren't always that size and thickness they used to be bigger the the current ones that we have now. Also this is just a general point but the first three coins depict an English item, a welsh item and a Scottish item just thought I'd mention as its a coincidence that's just occurred to me. Love your vids

    It's 7 sided because the pieces of 8 where when people would get gold, they would cut off the corners for extra money, usually making 7 sides, and then the last piece made the pieces of 8!

    Thank you. Very nice for asmr! But if you are worried about such things, the 20p wasn't introduced until the 80s. Can't remember when exactly! Also the 10p and the 5p used to be quite a bit bigger (the same size as the shilling and the florin). They made them smaller in the 90s sometime? :-)

    Great video! Just for your edification: dollar=pound, 100 cents to the dollar, 1 cent= penny, 5 cent= nickel, 10 cent= dime, 25 cent= quarter. Dollars, unlike pounds, are bills rather than coins, and the U.S. does't have an equivalent to a 50 pence piece. The quarter (25 cents) is the largest American coin.
