William Shatner is simply superb. A natural acting talent that has shone brightly through all the decades since the 1950's. Thank you for posting these gems.

I am enjoying this series tremendously. Old style acting - real, gritty, with so many great second string character actors. Shatner is impressive, as are the other leads. Many young actors that will earn fame later on. Stories are not all happy endings, making it true to life. Thanks for posting this. It's my era, at 71.

I am also, but don't recall this series or even the them song. I was 9yrs old in 1965, but I recall all these actors and actress's because I could never forget a face. When I came around my mother would be yelling at me saying move out of the way, your father wasn't a glass maker. That's how intent I would get watching the tube.

Greetings Ruby Pearl, thank you so much for posting this. What a great show. I love seeing the character actors. This reminds me of an early Hill Street Blues. William Shatner is really good. Thank you.

@@RubyPearls-Shatner-channel Im a huge collector of classic TV shows....Ive known about this show from books but was so happy to finally see. Thanks a lot these are great episodes for a seriously "ahead of its time" TV series....no wonder it was canceled(that and opposite Bonanza)...reminds me of "Eastside,Westside" a bit.

The opening credits always get to me . The men are looking so stern and serious and Ms Walter breaks out in a pretty smile . Oscar winner Ellen Burstin is featured in this episode . One of many before she was noticed as a leading lady.

    HES A PHENOMINAL ACTOR
its just the romantic style is out of vogue
the naturalistic style has been the thing since, say, i think since brando,
which is to bad because basically that style sucks
it was only interesting when brando did it because it stood in contrast to what most people did back then
NOW ITS JUST BULLSHIT! every second rate no talent tries to do that now
THATS SHATNER STANDS OUT SO MUCH NOW

Damn it little Joe😠. 😄✌

Chris Noth was written out of "Law and Order" by having him punch a homophobic politician who had been tried for murder. I think the idea might have come from the strong ending of this episode.

in the real world, what would happen if a District Attorney punches a member of the press? I am guessing he would be charged with assault and battery, and lose his job and the district would have to pay a fairly hefty fine and civil penalty. Am I missing something?

Best yet of a great half season, in my view. I'm now torn between wishing that this series had gotten the run it deserved or "Star Trek" having gone ahead with whomever was next in line to replace Jeff Hunter.
That having come up, I can understand no one having made Diana Muldaur ("Is There No Truth in Beauty", "Return to Tomorrow", TNG season 2), but how has no one commented on Logan Ramsey (Procunsul in "Bread and Circuses)?

@@pattimaeda6097 Among others. There's a great blog called "Star Trek Fact Check" that actually searches through the archives of the show and its creators. There's lots of fascinating stuff there. Sadly, they don't have a search function, but there was one entry describing loads of people that they considered for various roles.
IF I'm recalling rightly (and I'd like to double check, but oh well) Bridges had turned the role down even before Hunter did.

To make a really long story short......back in "the day" there used to be groups of tape traders(VHS then DVD). Folks would post lists of what they had for trade & you'd email them your list to see if you could work out a trade. Folks usually didn't sell at that time. Some trader lists still exist.

    Thoroughly disappointed in the ending!!!!
    NO conclusion...
    What happened to the child?
    The kidnappers? The reporter, etc?
A waste of my time 🙄😳
I know most series do not tie up everything in a neat little bow, however, I hope they don't all end with as many cliffhangers or I'll be passing... 😖

this story is about as stupid as it gets , it roles ok till this idiotic bit where they haveto go out to make the call and the lame car chase , then going to a hotel to make the call , make any sense ??? even if this moron reporter was behind then , just stop the car and flatten his tire but why a hotel where all numbers go thru the switchboard
