Hi, in india we grind the chickpeas with onion, green chilies finely chopped and ginger garlic paste...salt to taste. Add a little yogurt and set aside for 20 minutes. You'll have a fluffy omelette 🍳✨
Tried it today. Being not really a fan of the flour omelettes I expected something just okay but wow! This is perfect. The consistency and taste are soooo good! Thank you very much for this recipe!
I tried these omlettes today. Instead of soaking the chick peas, I used 1 cup and some of chick pea flour to 1 cup of water. I doubled the recipe and used my veggies. They came out good and tasted good. Thank you.
Hello chef😊, this actually looks very nice. In india similar thing called chilla is made of Bengal gram flour or soaked green gram, which will also taste very good.
High Chef Jana, I cooked your recipe on the video this morning. It came out great! I just added 1/2 fresh tomato (I'll use sun dried tomatoes next time with olives), sliced mushroom, onion, parsley, herbs and spices. Thank you and have a peaceful lovely Christmas 2023.
Hi Jana! Just discovered your channel today and have been binge watching and saving recipes like nuts to a squirrel. I just love your self-deprecating manner and your lovely accent. I am also completely in love with your silver!
This is a definitely 5 out of 5 star recipe. I was skeptical at first because every chickpea omelette I have tried has been a failure. This is nothing like those other recipes. I added some Cape Malay Curry powder as well as black salt because I like the eggy flavor I also did not use oil as that’s not something I like to add in my diet. This is definitely a keeper. I have loads of ideas to try with this. Thanks for the awesome recipe 😊
I just made this recipe and boy are they delish! I used canned chickpeas. Had to use two cans. Maybe decrease water to 3/4 cup for two cans? Mine were a little bit wet. I’m going to make a bunch and try freezing them. Thanks for yet another fantastic recipe!
Dear Chef Jana, I've tried the recipe. I measured 1 C of water and 1 C of soaked chickpeas but my batter was more liquid than yours, so I added 2 extra heaping spoons of chickpeas. I only added 1 green onion to it as veggie. The omelettes have turned out nice and also crispy all around. Thanks!
Yes, this can happen, especially if your chickpeas are young, next time add less water at the start and keep adding more water if you feel it's needed... Also, have you added the starch? Another thing is that onions release a lot of water when cooked, this might have contributed to the omelet looking more liquidy. ;)
This looks easy and great. Might I suggest black salt instead of regular to enhance the egg taste and a pinch of Hing or Asofoetideda for more garlic/onion taste? And it also helps if chick peas produce gas.
been making this all week so far and thought it was only fair to say thanks! i can't stand eggs so to me is better than an egg omelet. I just added shredded garlic, cooked veggie sausage chopped up tiny, and a bit of salt, pepper, and turmeric. I think if you let them sit they taste really good too.
Hi Chef Jana! Can we use canned chickpeas for this recipe or only dried? LOVE your channel and recipes thank you sooo much for sharing your passion, knowledge and skills (and of course your fur babies 🥰) with us 👩🏼🍳!
Just found you on YT after seeing your video on gooey non dairy cheese and that started my venture into your site of wondeful looking recipes. I love chick peas so I figured it would be a good one to start with. Wow this was so good, & it really worked for me as an awesome EGG Omelette substitution. FYI. I had to play with the amount of tapioca starch used due to I think, using canned beans, making it a bit more runny on the first try. I think next time I will not add as much water when using canned beans to see if I can get them to turn out like yours. :) Onions & Bell Peppers were my add in veggies. Thanks for the recipe. YUMMINESS ♡
This looks wonderful. I made an omelette with chickpea flour and was not impressed, I will definitely try it this way, I do love those little guys. I've also tried mung bean omelette and pepitas omelets, the pepitas were best. Thank you Chef
I am so looking forward to making these. Thank you so much for posting this recipe and will be checking out your website too. Have a great day and a great life
Chef J. You never disappoint!!! I think I might try these as mini muffins? What do you think. I’ve done this with quinoa batter and veg and turned out amazingly delicious!!! Thanks for always inspiring me.
Ya kno Jana - - these look a lot like Chinese restaurant Egg Foo Yung - - I can hardly wait to try these made with scallions, bean sprouts and mushrooms (maybe with a little splash of Bragg liquid aminos)
What a great idea to use actual chickpeas and not the flour! That would probably work with cooked chickpeas too and would be even quicker 🙂 Thank you, I will definitely have to give this a try!
No, raw chickpeas has certain gluten like, sticky quality that cooked chickpeas do not have. This is why one can make egg like dishes with soaked chickpeas and mung dal too.
Thank you for this recipe. It looks lovely! Is it better to use sour starch or tapioca starch, or does it matter? It is easy to find tapioca starch where I live but not sour starch. Thank you.
Oh boy. I’ll have to try this. I don’t usually make these because the flavor using besan flour is not my favorite. I never thought to use soaked chickpeas. I wonder if this process will work with red lentils too?
Thank u chef Jana lm sure gonna make it fr my Sunday morning b/fast I was wondering how to make an omelette without eggs which lm trying to avoid thanks again much appreciated

I'll have to try this with the chickpea flour.
I wondered about that. It sounds a lot quicker and simpler.

Did you still make it in a pan, but just without oil?
I made these today and this was amazing ! Perfect for any meal. Thank you ! Love you and your videos
So glad!
Got it! Instead of chickpea flour , soaked ckickpeas like for falafel. Wow. Thank you .

Great idea!!
Can I ask if freezing helped firm them up? I messed up the ratio. They were tasty but a bit wet still.
I've had an unopened bag of tapioca starch in my cupboard forever, I didn't know what to do with it!! Now I do!
I love this recepie
Thank you

No, not at all!
