Lol. Wow. You caint be a pro. Lol. Braid is used mostly but their are situations that nylon line is necessary for the time of year, type of water, temperature, type of fish you are going for and where your fishing. If I was you i would research more on the subject. You will never be compared to a pro without having a diversity of fishing equipment including different types of fishing line. Good luck.
Dear Scott, thanks for reaching out, I also wouldn’t use the term “pro” - I have to say I enjoy the term fishing enthusiast a lot more. If you have been following my channel you might have noticed the surrounding and vegetation I am in. I do not find myself fishing near structures or sharp rock so I do not need the abrasion resistance nylon offers. Furthermore, I am not targeting species like kingfish where I have to be worried about pulling the hook out due to their soft tissue in their mouth region, so the flex is also not needed. The species I am mainly targeting are trout. That means if I am not fly fishing, I tend to use my spin fishing set up with braid (more line - same breaking tension). I enjoy the direct contact and minimal flex braid gives me and I have never had a problem with its visibility. Keep on fishing!
@christiancasts that's fine and dandy. I was just commenting to what you said. That you didn't understand why people are still using nylon and not braid and that you thought only older fishermen was the only ones still using nylon. Have a great day and good luck
In all secrecy I have to tell you, I myself started fishing with nylon 😉. I have also noticed that there has been a trend moving towards braided fishing lines over the years. In my application, I will be sticking with braid because I find it to be the better choice.
