True, I remember before TRU went out in the USA, I found 3 retired sets slightly above retail but well below collector prices. Snatched them up. Some older CMF's and a sweet Space Police 5985: Space Police Central. Found these like in 2015 or so.

Well, that happened to me at least a few times; and I live in Canada. [The LEGO sets that I'm mainly talking about here - which were retired for *_at least_* a year by the time in which I had bought them - were the 6071 Forestmen's Crossing, 6077 Forestmen's River Fortress and 6081 King's Mountain Fortress LEGO Castle sets (I don't recall any other instances in which this has happened to me right now); and I got at least one of them on clearance, and possibly at least one of them was at regular retail price.] However, this happened way, *_way back_* in 1994 and/or 1995; so...

Sir troys is my go to spot. I live like 15 minutes away and I was crazy to see him there!
I keep dreaming about lego store still selling old sets, I was so happy in those nights, getting and building the ones I missed out. Then I woke up realising, the past will never return.

as a teenager from Illinois, its super cool to see you visit all of the Lego locations I go to like the Wheaton bricks and minifigs, and the Woodfield mall Lego store.
Bruh sir troys is my favorite place to go!! I live just 10m away!!! I’m so mad I missed you they also have Minifigure swaps in tuesdays it’s a great place for a Lego community for lego

Ryan, I think you would really enjoy model railroading. First off, there is the aspect of creating a layout with scenic elements and other creative aspects. Second, your favorite part of the lego hobby is the collecting aspect. The collecting of model trains is much more in depth than lego collecting. Depending on the manufacturer, some electric trains go back about 130 years. Plus many times. A single product number has many variations, each with there own values. I think you should get into model railroading, you will enjoy it.

LEGO Knight’s Kingdom was my first ever theme! It’s insane that they’ve got them there!!
I can tell you had fun there. But with Cobi they have contracts with world of tanks, Bovington tank museum, at one point they had a line for world of warships. With the world of tanks line you get in game codes to use in the game. I have their IS-7 which was a celebrational tank for WoT's tenth anniversary and their Sabaton Primo Victoria tank. The Tiger 131 set you saw is their newest one and for every one of those sold a portion of the sale goes back to museum to keep that tank running. It's up to you. At least you saw Shy, sadly you didn't get to meet Bricksie. He was there too.

Playmobil is apparently more popular in Germany and Europe than in the USA. every child actually buys Playmobil before they buy Lego and then comes to Lego at some point when they get older

This reminds me ofan airport score at an official lego store. In 2022 ( I'm Australian, so stock is overpriced and understocked) I found a 2019 a wing for 30 AUD, at a time it was on the secondhand market for about 90 AUD.

Ryan, if you want to get into trains (eventually), why don't you "invest" in LEGO trains so when you decide to go hardcore, you will have your entire LEGO collection to help you make dioramas from the parts for the trains.
I love the vlog man, and if your thinking about doing some things with cobi sets, definitely do it. The quality is very much not as amazing as LEGO, but once you get them built they are very sturdy sets and look amazing on display. I have multiple ones of them and I love them all
If you ever make a trip up to Indiana, stop by itsablockparty! (I'll probably be there as always lol), but they have a lot of good retired Lego sets... emphasis on the a lot part 🤣

Just a heads up Ryan if your ever in Ohio again, there’s a good store in Columbus Called “Big Fun”, it has a ton of retired sets for a small store, worth checking out if your in the area
As someone who is into model railroading. You should definitely go for it. Very fun hobby to get into.
I live in Northern Ohio and bought several of those blue knights from that store myself awhile back. To put outside the Disney castle! Lol also got a white boba fet from the collected book from them. It’s a cool store. Sometimes they have a used set selection.
I can’t believe the one weekend I’m not at my local bricks and mini figs mandr shows up.

amen brother i have a shop near my apartment and i almost bought the “jedi battle” set for $20 for like 2000 (and i should of!!!) but they pretty much demanded my wallet! they were selling phase 1 OG clones for $7 and i wanted to buy them all and i didn’t and the next time i went they were sold out lmao i really missed that! but i did buy one on ebay for maybe $7 which was awesome! i’m a sucker for clone troopers with cut outs visors from the good ol days! something about buying things in person just hits definitely then buying online
@@michelangelo5903 That’s awesome i started collecting Clone troopers and the Mandalorians cause they have such cool designs, i don’t have any stores around near me so that helps the temptation and right it feels so much more authentic! I’m just getting back into Lego after a decade i it’s such a good way to de-stress and fun to collect I mostly want to buy alot of the old sets that I had when I was younger that I lost especially with how much they are worth now.
@@Lucabrasi1999 i agree! i love finding damn good deals on classic sets! from like probably 2000-2013ish! i really wish i didn’t go through the phase of “everything i used to like sucks now!” what a teenager phase to go through lmao! but i totally agree! half the fun is the hunt! finding a killer deal on a set you love or minifig really hits the spot! i do however wish i found the classic Clone army customs from the time (with the classic cut out visor!) because as a kid i was literally dropping my jaw over those figures! maybe one day i’ll find a good deal on those bad boys but till then, keep collecting and have fun my dude! i would kill for a classic BF2 or BF2 2004-20005) figs! they were the trophy of my collection as a kid even tho i didn’t have one!

I actually got that knights kingdom set (the catapult) like way back in the day.
That walker with the red legs was so expensive in Australia. I bought it for $35 us instead and Amazon sent it to me for $20 . Out here it was like $150 or something crazy. I also had a $30 us Amazon voucher which helped.

I don’t know how anyone gets more than one republic tank. Here in Canada people are reselling them for 109 to 120 Canadian now. I got one for retail but have never seen a second one since they launched. I had to get mine from the lego site.

Kids love play mobile. It honestly has better playability that most Lego sets, especially since kids can be a little rougher with the toys without having to rebuild everything.
And you can get some cool themes like scooby doo. Build experience is 0 fun, but that’s what the parents have to deal with for the younger kids anyway.
