I honestly think dropping OG grails doesn’t effect the brand as much cause the new sneaker heads don’t have a clue what was stash legacy people who grew up loving these grails can enjoy them now. The new sneaker head doesn’t care for story or nostalgia just resale
I like how you mentioned Timbs in this video even though they aren’t sneakers. That trend died off quickly like you said. They had some momentum but I don’t think corporate understands that you can’t continue to live in the past and rely on one particular silhouette. Plus, a lot of the ambitious designers/creative directors left Timberland bc corporate didn’t allow them to cook up. They don’t have the retro bag like a Nike/adidas to rely on in this market. People may not be wearing them as much now these days but, then again they didn't really wear them much when they were popular either. Even todays current trends I dont ever see out in public.

For mass market I think comfort still has another year of reigning supreme - as well as reduced cost silhouettes and hybrids. My only hope is that the hypebeast continues to stay clear of Jordan for 2025 - all be it Travis, and from the looks of it Nigel, will keep the resellers in business.

(And a big inspiration for me) As far as this topic, when I was in middle school in the mid/late 90’s I was gifted a pair of New Balance 996’s instead of the Air Max’s I liked and asked for. Cue being asked “what are THOSE?” wayyyy before it was a thing 😂 long story short, that ended up starting my interest in NB as well as Air Max/trainers in general and I’m glad I was exposed to a different brand back then (I’ve obviously gone way overboard since 😂) but I think it’s funny seeing and reading the tribalism that still surrounds kicks in general. Get the sense due to the rise in popularity of “other” models and companies in recent years, Nike/Jordan-centric fans are now fighting back at all these trends 😂 it’s all good, I think what this shows is people should wear what they like, and not feel bad for it, especially by someone wearing sneakers too, just a different style. 🤷🏼♂️ just my useless .02¢ Wishing you and yours an awesome 2025 and continued success! The Jordan hasn't fallen off at all. Nike are just making them much more readily available. 1 million units. They sell in numbers. Manufacturers like Asics & NB create like 200k of a shoe at most. Scarcity alone inflates resale. But when you look at unit sales/ demand. It's not even close.

Black Cement 3s were trash, terrible QC, and people don’t want classics that release every year. They are going after shoes that are unique that will make big gains$$. A Ma 3s this year were not unique and a lot of people did not like the colorway- was also $250 so the highest jordan 3 of the year before they lowered the price. That is because the sillouhoette of the 700s is in line with the current retro running shoes. The Wave Runner's resell price is still high.
