Am I the only one who thinks Dave sounds decent - even pretty good? Sure he struggles on the higher notes but this was a pretty good performance

He sounds pretty damn good for 2014. He can't really do anything like that now since his neck surgery. Also his mic is loud enough. He tends to pull away during those high notes.

Hey great It's the 1st time I heard this song live ......
Ok. Let me start by saying that was one if the smoothest swaps to a backup guitar I've ever seen. BUT It's been almost 5 years since this video and Dave's voice hasn't gotten better he just knows how to manage it now I saw them last year and the show was great but he just can't do it like he used to . It is a pity but hey heroin is a hell of a drug.
@James Lee hey not arguing with you there. I still love Dave and Megadeth like crazy. All the old school guys are getting there but hell tye big 4 have been on the road for almost 40 years, it's dedication to what they love but it does damage.
@@Knife_Eclectic Belladonna still has the ability to hit the high notes. In fact, he's only gotten better with age, like a fine wine.

What are you all smoking to think that Mustaine's voice is shit or damaged? He has one of the best metal voices/singing styles in the history of history. Saw him live a year ago at high altitude and he fcking killed it vocally so I'm going to see them again. If you all were at any concert of Megadeth's and nit-picked at his singing, then you are a little fcking whiner. Who the fck else is going to sing for Megadeth the way there songs can be sung? If anybody else sang Megadeth songs, then you all would still find something to complain about the way it sounds vocally. Quit complaining and be grateful that Megadeth is still even playing for the love of music and the fans. Megadeth is the best band in the world currently. They're still touring around the globe and putting out albums; they tour most of the states and are cool enough to play in small cities and entertain/perform for fans everywhere despite their wealth and fame.

Man, I really do hope his vocals improve in the near future. A few years ago, his singing voice was the best I'd heard it (in my opinion), but it just sounds damaged on songs like this, which feature a lot of high range stuff.
He hasn't sounded that great since the late 90's. A lot of the recent live stuff officially released has been doctored to make it sound better. All things considered, not much time for rehearsals, and the fact that they haven't played this song for almost 20 years, I think this is fairly decent. Dave would have been finished if he had tried to sing this in 2012, so his voice has gotten progressively better. I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming performances of these songs were much better than this. Hell, the next nights performance was a noticeable improvement from this one.
***** They played in 1997. It's not that much about the rehearsal, Mustaine can sing it well. He has improved, not like the era 2010-2011, he was like Mousetaine.

Darren Burns Absolutely! I'm saying he hasn't sounded like he did vocally on Youthanasia (his vocal prime) since the late 1990's. I think he sounds pretty great considering two or three years ago he would have been hard pressed to even sing Sweating Bullets.

My big question is why aren't they tuned to C#? If Countdown was Standard E and the live version was Standard D, why is Youthanasia which was Eb now in Standard D? Shouldn't it be C#? I know he played A Tout Le Monde, Reckoning Day, and Angry Again in E live (which I thought was a horrible idea), he still played Train of Consequences in Eb (cause that would be waaaay too high). Tuning doesn't go E to D, Eb to D. Is it "too low" for them to play it like that, or was it because people wanted to hear Youthanasia songs before the anniversary and they didn't tune it down just yet? I think it'd be awesome to hear that, even though the lower tuning makes the songs sound tired.
Because relatively Dave's voice fits more in D tuning in all songs.
But I really think he should go a little lower. It makes a huge difference. If he's gonna play Train of Consequences, he's gonna struggle the entire song.
Well in that case you are right, considering train of consequences has harder notes to reach.

something that may sound silly, but taking into consideration that Mustaine's voice has been fading (something natural), but taking into account that they have changed guitarist and bassist on several occasions, I don't understand why they haven't looked for someone who, in addition to being able to play , knows how to sing and could help Mustaine sing in some parts in some songs or better yet in all of them

Metellica es lo mismo (no vengo a decir quienes mejor o peor), los años pasan y su ritmo musical, su voz y demas no es la misma que tenian hace años, por desgracia... pero esl no esta mal, tenia que ocurrir no? Yo aprecio estas dos bandas por que se LA BANCAN tocando despues de tantos años, a pesar que no suenen o hagan las cosas de antes. Not bad with Dave's singing, can barely hit high notes or any at all but the range he has right is pretty good considering he could barely sing at all 3 years ago with his surgery. Maybe his voice will improve a little once he makes more songs that will be fan favorites and use a lower range so he doesn't kill his voice again.
