I Built an Uphill Track.... OR IS IT?

- Hey everyone and welcome back to more Zeepkist! Today we are building DECEPTIVE tracks so I decided to make an uphill track without any sort of boosters or fans for power. Will my friends be deceived by this?

A lock for the "ALT P" would be better than outright removing it, in my opinion. You can either lock the time for your track, or leave it so that players can choose the time they like more.
I had this same idea as the dev ws talking about removing it
You're really good at spoiling your tracks for the group before they see them lol. They even mention it here.
He's so proud of his effect he really wants to share it.

An idea for the secret hot key for the time of day is just have an option in the map maker to disable the feature and not allow it. That way if the map maker cares, they can cheese proof their map.

The longer I look at it the more it looks like it’s going uphill. At the start of the vid I could easily tell it was down but the longer I watched it I became less sure.
It was the opposite for me. I thought it was uphill but once he showed it sideways. I couldnt stop noticing it was downhill

the dev adds a lot to the videos, and not necessarily because he's the developer, but because he's a nice and fun guy… I wanted to see him in a noob vs pro on scrapmecanic heheheh, will be unique =]
dev should add wheel types checkpoint like the first person ones... so can do stuff like spiked tires for ice areas or bigger tires for rocky terrain or remove/repair wheels could also work
They should have small decorations if so.

Good track but Kan spoiled this for the guys, he should have kept quiet for a bit so we would get some nice reactions.

I really DID walk uphill to school both ways. Maybe "school" isn't quite the right word. But to class in college. The door of my dorm that was closest to my room was at an elevation of 948 feet. But that door was an Out only from my second year on when they started locking it for safety reasons and didn't put in a keycard system until after I left. The main entrance which was the only one accessible for awhile, was 965 feet. But the main buildings with classrooms are all in the 955-960 range. So I would indeed start my walk to "school" at 948 feet, walk uphill to 955-960 feet and then to get back, I would have to walk uphill again to 965.
and yes...it snowed a lot.
A solution for the hotkey problem, have a option to disable them for that track in the level editor
I love hearing you guys talk, especially with the dev. On the weather switch, I think it could be a switch in the lobby settings that defaults off.
or maybe in the map settings itself
it could be a more generic "cheat mode" so if some more of these features and possibly debug tools get added the players can use them but also disable them on a lobby by lobby or maybe even map by map basis

i love watching how happy they are now, knowing eventually they will play dappers track and no longer enjoy this game
So, I would say to leave the ToD hotkey available and just add a section in the track editor to either enable or disable the hotkey on that track. That way, if the time of day or weather is a feature, the author of the track can disable Alt+P.
If it is possible, Yannic should add a feature that allows people to view the top 3 winning runs after the race is over. Or at least the fastest run. Maybe even just the creator of the track has that option, but better if it is everybody.
I'd say it is almost impossible for this game: while deterministic games like Trackmania just need to save a few kB input datalog and the resulting run would be the same for everyone replay that sequence of inputs, for zeepkist you would need to actually record a video of all the race from every player point of view, and not everyone has a pc with the power to do that
@@Beregorn88 I don't know how things works, but would be possible to delete it if is not faster that the record? also couldn't be possible to stop recording and delete if it's falling behind by a certain margin? this would definitely lower the power requirement, right? another things may be send to server and delete from user or maybe record positions and send it directly to the server and then let the server process the positions into the run. I'm not a programmer I have no idea how programming works either, so I have no idea how this ideas actually are on script tho
@@raismin739 the problem is that the act itself of recording requires a beefy gpu and it subtract to the resources dedicated to the game, as any youtuber can confirm
@@Beregorn88 i can confirm that myself as sometimes i do record data for game researches like last time with genshin impact, that's why i was proposing recording position too
@@Beregorn88 I believe it was kAN that asked Yannic about having some sort of video verification of world record times for that unofficial records website and he said he was thinking about it. Isn't that all that would be needed? You don't have to record the video...just the inputs. At least with single player, that would be super easy. Multiplayer may be a bit more difficult since the spawning objects are not the same for everyone or every run. But there must be some way to record the inputs of the spawning objects.
I know when I used to record my MAME gameplay, the input file worked fine for most games. But if you had a game that was different from game to game, it sometimes didn't work. Like there was a game called Crash where the very first game after turning the game on (or starting MAME) caused one of the enemy cars to wait a couple seconds before moving. Every other game before it was turned off/unplugged would have it start immediately. So on MAME, if you recorded your inputs while playing it with no delay, and then tried to playback those inputs as the first game, the patterns would be all different and you would inevitably crash. However, games like Vs. Dr. Mario, where the viruses are different from game to game would work just fine because it would save the seed. So couldn't Zeepkist save a seed for each run depending on how the spawned objects are on the course already, or things like the position of fans at the start, and then just record inputs?

I'm surprised that nobody did like a night track with just the apex of the corner lit and on a few random corners lit the wrong way so people think to turn left but really the corner turns right
Reminds me of The Voyage at Holiday World. An out-and-back coaster built on the side of a hill with the station at the bottom and the midpoint turn around at the top. The first half feels like you're going downhill over flat terrain like any other coaster and then the second half you're hugging the ground while inexplicably going faster.
For the time of day change thing, just make it so that the mapmaker can lock the time of day

ALT-P is a great accessibility feature. There are tracks with a mix of ToD and colors that are unplayable with my vision problems.

Kan sacrificing his green time to play with time of day. You could also restrict switching time of day while building the map by adding a "Allow Time Switching" box.

Make An Mathematics track where you have to calculate an math problem and choose the right answer and go in thw right pipe, but the wrong pipes have DEAD ENDS.Make like 20 math problems so they dont use memory

Checkpoints that change time of day would be awesome for adventure tracks.
Looke like on your next to last run you could have made up a lot of time by continuing over the wall after checkpoint 1 and straight shot to checkpoint 2 through the trees.
13:25 kan is stuck on top of the podium
use the barriers or walls for more speed. Don't wallride tho it reduces the speed a bit after you get out of wallride. You gotta find a way to make contact with the wall/barrier for a longer period for better time result and better speed
For anyone suprised by the alt p trick, check out Acesupreme's map called "Dandelions" he makes it so you can only beat the level if you know the trick because the flowers move based on where the sun is
I'm fairly sure that the sunflowers shouldn't change the way they're facing after the level loads.
If they do, that's a bug.
oooooh kinda like how thers checkpoints set up by the map creator that can switch 1st and 3rd person views, there could also be one to switch time of day when you pass through them

Really enjoyed this map, it does feel weird when driving it!
I don’t know if this feature is already there but I think the dev could add a feature where you can only change to certain or all weathers/times in a track when creator allows it, so that way people can’t cheat using the weather. I think it would also be nice to add like pouring rain weather thing, sorry if unclear.😅

Lab should have added a boulder launcher and fans to make it go the opposite direction that the people are and it goes past beside the track

I think they get times that low because they cut across the forest after the second CP into the 4th CP, and into the 3rd CP, cut across the forest again into the 5th CP, and then into the finish.
Oh, that is disorienting. Going to have to play that one!

This for some reason doesn't effect me, i guess I always based my orientation on gravity rather than my surroundings.
yeah, it's not just being sensible on acceleration. but it's also something about horizon, aka some people have a more general way to look at things and others looks more at details, so for people that looks at details they would look more at the trees and see they are uphill, while people with more general view, would feel a bit strange cause they would see they are downhill for the horizon while and the trees looks "strange". while on reality some people are just sensitive with acceleration and would tell you immediately if they are uphill or downhill based on that. It's a very cool things honestly ^^

or just make it only functional when in map editor, that way it doesn't work when you're doing the courses. (or have a special allowance to allow the host of the map to switch the time before the map starts.)

I know it would be more work, but I wish that at least when one of the other two has the best time of all three, they would send the track creator the footage so it could be included on the video. Or maybe have all of them have a second channel that is just pretty raw, uneducated footage of them playing the other two tracks. No real editing, and make it clear that it is not a polished channel. Similar to what people who are mainly Twitch streamers will do where they will have a RAW channel that is just the whole 3 hour, or however long, stream.

I got one of those around my house it's called gravity hill you pour water it goes downhill downhill you put your park in neutral in neutral you start rolling the opposite way as the water pouring down hill

WHY DID YOU EXPLAIN IT BEFORE THEY SAW IT?
I think the trees were just a bit too angled in the other direction. It made it look "fake" and sort of forced my brain to ignore that as my perception of elevation. I think it if was just barely leaning the other way, say 20 degrees to give it a 5 degree perceived lean, it might have worked better on me.
Of course, if you want to REALLY mess with people's brains, just painstakingly angle trees in random directions and angles.

it just looks like down hill all the time to me u can even see road sloping down ,I don't see uphill at all.
