Highly recommend Home Before Dark by Riley Sager! It's about a woman whose family lived in a supposedly haunted house when she was a kid; her dad wrote a book about what happened there but she doesn't remember any of it and so goes back to the house as an adult to investigate. The book is divided between present day from the woman's perspective and chapters of the book the dad wrote.

I recently listened to The Final Girls Support Group by Grady Hendrix and it was honestly so fun while also being an interesting commentary on violence against women. Highly recommend 🙌🏼

Definitely read the Hannibal books! They're sooo good! I reread red dragon not too long ago and it's still a book I read cover to cover because I cannot put it down. Anthony Hopkins is amazing as Hannibal but the books are fantastic.
    Cheers!

NOS4A2 has been on my list for so long, but I always talk myself out of it. I'll have to make some time to check it out finally.

I really want to read NOS4A2 (it sounds brilliant) but every time I go to read it, I pick up a Stephen King book instead as many of the older ones I need to read. I wasn't a big fan of 'final girls sg' but the authors other books are still appealing, especially Horrorstor. I'm told you need to get a physical copy to enjoy it fully so I'll get to it eventually (I'm a ebook/audiobook user for most of my reading).

So funny, I just mentioned that one! HORRORSTÖR is weird, but a lot of fun for an IKEA fan. You definitely need a hard copy though, because it adds so much; it’s set up just like a catalogue, and the images on the front and back covers are eerie!

      This ...Horrorstor sounds super intriguing!

Hanninal Rising is the prequel to Red Dragon, which is followed by Silence of the Lambs, and then ends with Hannibal. All great. Also, imagine being so badass you write a book and then nearly 150 years later, you're the main character of its prequel haha.

I thin you would enjoy Thomas Harris' books! If I remember correctly they had some differences. Enough to be worthy to read and see the movies ^^
I love your recommendations but I'm such a scared cat. So I only dare to tiptoe around the "horror line"

I would definitely try reading Dracula before the prequel if you can. I’d really recommend a recent version of the audiobook that features Tim Curry, Alan Cummings, and some others; I think they all read it really well, and made it quick to get through.
Also, thanks for the rec’s! I really want to read Hendrix’s “Southern Book club’s Guide…” soon! I read one order of his books, HORRORSTÖR; it was weird, but definitely has a lot of fun references for anyone who remotely appreciates IKEA 😄

@@morganalisonstewart I think it’s a good idea to get a sense of the original. I haven’t read Dracul yet (but I definitely want to!), so I don’t know if it’s going to hint at anything in the original, but it wouldn’t hurt to have the full story. 🙂
I also love that it’s written by Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew! What a fun family tradition 😆

The show for NOS4A2 was fine but not great... I loved the book so the show didn't hold up like I wish it would have. If you haven't read Wraith, I would recommend that! It's a graphic novel that's the backstory to Manx and how he got that way.

    • @morganalisonstewart

I read Red Dragon and the Silence of the Lambs in July. I'm gonna be honest... I found the writing in Red Dragon to be very choppy and bad, and hard to follow in some places. It caught me by surprise because I didn't really see anyone mention the bad writing. The Silence of the Lambs improves quite a bit, and I gave it 5 stars. Just FYI 😂

Not related to the video, but what do you do with books you don't want anymore? I wanna give it to somebody I know who'll read it, but I also want to donate it to a library
