I just bought one of these phones with a $20 Tracfone plan to use as a 2nd phone temporarily. If I like it I'll probably just give up my smart phone since I use a laptop for most of my internet needs. I enjoyed your presentation of all the features on this phone. For a $20 phone I'm pretty impressed so far with the quality.
Thanks. I swap the sim chip to use the flip phone when I am not at work. I need a smartphone at work but also enjoy an old school flip phone on my days off.
Not in manual, but light is activated by pressing top navigation bar just above center button...or lower navigation bar will open several options including flashlight...
so far the best review yet on the Nokia 2870 that I've seen. I'm interested in how the phone part works rather than the smarty apps. Specifically how the elderly interacts with the user interface, for instance: is it easy or intuitive to make a phone call, answer a phone call, end a phone call, enter phone numbers into the contacts, make a call from contacts, check voice messages, delete voice messages, check text messages, or possibly email. lots of apps, not really interested in what most folks aren't going to be using. Nokia says it's got GPS. If you set it up indoors maybe it hasn't found the location yet? Initial GPS acquisition for any device takes longer than update positions.
I mean I was planning to get this phone before watching yours but you def showed how to use it better than anyone else does.. They just unbox it and say that it's hard to use after a week or a month and I'm like but how do you even use it lol. Thanks for showing us!
That little phone talks pretty good video, in my unlearned opinion. Great color, smooth, clear focus. The phone looks like a comfortable size. I like the large numbers. I would like to see larger letters, though. Hard for a senior to see.
I believe Nokia has a model that has bigger letters, and numbers. I here Nokia teamed up with kai os, and mizilla to make more updates. Google stopped supporting them I figure that's because they are stealing business from them.
Sky: You are a great teacher. You are very patient. I loved this tutorial o the Nokia Flip 2760. You have the best Open box video on UA-cam. Sky, I'm going to down load the QR app so I can download a lot of grocery store bargains! Thanks Sky, your Super Powers are patience & teaching!
As a very new user I found it difficut to understand what you were pressing to get the result on the screen as like heaps of others I have not used a mobile before. Otherwise you give exxcellent directons. I really need the very BASIC motions please Thanks old Cate
I mainly used the directional buttons which is the black square, and the two "variable" buttons on the top right and left. The function of these "variable" buttons change depending on what's on the screen, and their label will be on the bottom left and right of the screen. The last button that I use is the "return" button which is labeled as an arrow pointing left. Once you play around with it for a few minutes, you'll find your way around.
I just replaced my original Tracfone Nokia 2760 because the older phone had a screen failure. The old phone did not have a voice talk back, but the new one does. I cannot shut it off. Do you have any idea how this can be done? The voice is driving me crazy. Every time I switch to another feature, it talks to me. How do I shut off this feature?
Go to SETTINGS, select the DEVICE tab, scroll down to and choose ACCESSIBILITY, scroll down to and click on READOUT, then you will have the options ON or OFF, select OFF.
@@skywind007 Sir, you have saved my life! Or at least my sanity! I probably spent 3 hours last night searching for how to shut off that annoying voice, until I came across your video. Thank you for your reply!
I recommend the yearly 365 day plan which will cost $99 plus tax, so it comes out at about $109 and will give you 400 minutes. If you go with this plan, you are stuck with it for a year. If you decide you no longer need it, you are out of luck since there are no refunds. You can also try the monthly plan for $10 a month which gives you 30 minutes per month. That's less than a minute a day under this plan so it's only for very light users. With the monthly plan you are only committed to one month should you change your mind, however you get less minutes overall and over the course of a year you pay 20 extra dollars. Neither gives you any data, but you probably won't need that on a flip phone. Here is the link for the yearly plan: www.tracfone.com/plans/basic-phones-full-year-plan-400-minutes
Selectel has a plan for $75 comes with 2000 minutes for a year and will work on any Tracfone device and no new SIM needed. That's right, use the existing SIM to activate on Selectel Wireless
Has an annoying default"persumptive" feature when you text that guesses what your next word will be like when you use Google. Always back spacing to get rid the letters and words that pop up. Always have to turn off the "presumptive" setting before I start typing.
True. I hate that too. After using it a while it's become second nature for me to turn off the predictive function, but it shouldn't be there to begin with.
The short way is to connect it to a computer via USB cable and transfer an MP3. The long way is to add music files to a memory card and plug in the card on the phone. I haven't tried Bluetooth transfer because the mac I own doesn't allow that.
I got this phone awhile ago and have loved most of it, but does anyone know if theres a way to see a saved contact when someone is calling? For example my mom called me the other day and because i dont remember phone numbers i didnt recognize it because it wasnt showing her as the contact name i saved for her. Any suggestions how to fix it?
I bought one of these phones to replace my earlier Tracfone that suddenly stopped working (Tracfone had changed their service unbeknownst to me, apparently making my old phone incompatible), and I also bought a twenty-dollar Tracfone minutes card. I use a cellphone mainly to call AT&T when their landline phone and internet services fail, but so far I've not figured out how to make any phone call. I tried to enter the 20-digit code number printed on the minutes card into the Tracfone internet site but got no response from the website. Right now, I know only which button turns the phone on and off. I suspect the pharmacy clerk who rang up the minutes-card purchase failed to do something. Any help will be appreciated.
The video was very good . A lot of information . However. It does not show a beginner what buttons to push in order to actually do what you are saying. Seeing and following the directions and able to get the same results that you are explaining. Would be very helpful for seniors who are just learning to use this flip phone. Any other videos available ??
@gayleumber8026 I agree, The 99 page manual is not very useful. He shows all the things it can do but not how to use them. ie.: how do you enter text, how do I take a picture. how do I move this picture to my PC. Still it was a good, if long, review.
Is texting on this phone the same as the Nokia 2720? I can't find any videos showing how texting works on this phone but I have seen a video of texting on a 2720. I believe on that one you can save the text messaging app to a favorites button to get right to it. I just like how the old flip phones work and want something as close as possible to that as I can get when it comes to texting. I assume you can send the photos and videos you take with the camera on the phone via text message and also recieve photos and videos via text message on the 2780? Do you know why number 5 button on the keypad seems to be concave? Thanks!
Also wondering if any of the 2760's have a FM radio or is strictly the 2780 model? Would mini speakers that plug into the headphone jack on a 2780 work as a FM antenna or does it have to be actual headphones? I'm assuming if only headphones can be used as a FM antenna then you'd have to actually wear the headphones to hear the radio and there would be know way to play it through the phone or external speakers?
A big part of me wanting to get a flip phone is to spend less time on socials including UA-cam, so is there any way that I can uninstal UA-cam on that phone?
I hoped to see how to SET IT UP!! Setting the time, etc. Didn't buy this to play games or anything else, but to have a dedicated number for a number of applications.
I didn't want to show the activation process because it contains my personal info. I don't want criminals cloning my info and then having the police kick down my door. As far as date and time, it automatically sets when you connect to a network. To activate, visit tracfone.com/activation
I checked on the box, the owner's manual, the tracfone website, even the Nokia website. It is not stated anywhere what the video resolution is. The only thing I know is that it is 5MP camera. By 2022 standards, that is very low.
Yes, you can add a custom ringtone in two ways: 1) You can use the recorder app to create an audio file to use as a ringtone, and 2) you can use the music app to use any mp3 file as a ringtone. As far as charging, I have a slow charger (less than 1 Amp) and it takes about 30 minutes to fully charge. A fast charger (2 amps or more) would likely take less than that.
@@oaks7852 To activate the phone, go to tracfone.com/activation. To buy a plan, go to www.tracfone.com/phone-service-plans. The cheapest plan is the 60 days for $25. That's less than $15 a month. You can't get that anywhere else.
I do wish you had explained how to input messages with the t9 or however that works. I think this is more confusing than a smart phone when it comes to doing messages. Good review though.
When you highlight the text area and the cursor is flashing, press the pound key (#), to toggle between the various modes. I personally prefer the "Abc" mode which will automatically capitalize the first letter of every sentence. I wish this was the default but it is not. I think I will do a mini instructional video on that because it is very awkward, particularly since senior users will be using it.
No. You must activate the phone and buy a service plan. Out of the box the phone will not make any calls and no texts. I wish they would give you something for free just for buying their phones, but oh well.
Thank you for asking. I forgot to mention that. It has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. As far as speaker, yes it does. The headphone jack is a combination of headphone and mic. If you insert a headphone set that has a mic on it, you will be able to hear out of it and speak at the same time. I do a demo on this at 44:23.
No. The only navigation that you have on this phone is Google maps. I searched on the KaiOS store and there is no Android Auto. By the way, if navigation is important to you, I would better recommend the Alcatel MyFlip 2 phone, as it has Google Assistant. The means you can say, "Hey Google, is there a French restaurant around here?", and the assistant will take you there, without having to type anything. The Nokia flip phone doesn't have any kind of speech recognition, so you will have to type a lot. Here is my review on the Alcatel Myflip 2: ua-cam.com/video/L9oV0s77WG4/v-deo.html
Great video but, what about the texting. Of everything you spoke about, you didn’t talk about that one basic thing lol. I wanted to know how many seconds you have to wait before you can press another letter on the same button.
Somebody gave me one of these but didn't include any manuals. What I need to know is how to get the notices and voicemails. Why don't people include such minor but important information?
Depends. They say a non-Apple device, like this phone, is eligible for unlocking if it was activated after Nov 23, 2021, if it is on the Verizon network. I checked the phone to see what networks it connects to and the only ones that come up are: AT&T 4G, Home 4G, 313100 4G, T-Mobile 4G, 311490 4G, T-Mobile 2G, and T-Mobile 3G. I ran a scan again and it showed the same list. Verizon is not listed in my area. I live in Missouri City, Texas (near Houston). I tried to unlock mine and I got a message that mine is not eligible for unlocking. And the policy states that any phone not on the Verizon network must be active for a year to be eligible. So, I'm not eligible until 1 year goes by but if you are in an area with Verizon and you activate your phone on the Verizon network, you are supposed to be eligible after 60 days.
@@suziea3707 I think the problem is simply the phone bands. I have 2 tracfone flip phones (an Alcatel and a Nokia) and I made a scan on both and neither can find a Verizon network. This suggests to me that these two flip phones simply don't have the Verizon band built in. So it doesn't really matter where you live, you could live right next to a Verizon tower, these flip phones will not connect no matter what. I checked my location with the Verizon map on their website, and I live in an area with plenty of 4G coverage, yet neither of my phones can see the Verizon networks. It's a shame that Nokia doesn't sell this phone unlocked for people to choose which carrier they want.
It has a very basic Find My Phone function. You have to sign up to KaiOS at kaiostech.com. The phone must be turned on and connected to a KaiOS account, and must have either data plan or wifi access. Once your phone is lost but fully connected, you go to the KaiOS site and sign in. Then you will have the choice of 1) Remote Lock, 2) Remote Wipe, or 3) Make a Ring. There is no map locate function on this phone. So you can't really locate it. You can only make a ring. Of course, you could just as easily call it from another phone and listen for it.
This is just some guy that has no idea of what he is talking about. This is the first time he even seen this device and is just learning as about it NOW !
T9 T9 T9, geesh. that is the fastest form of texting on these (very akin to swipe). Yes it takes a little (very little) practice but after a few hours you can blow up phones with your texting skill. TAP TAP TAP,... is like 1990+ when T9 did not exist.
If you are moving from an Android phone to this phone, you have to go to CONTACTS, OPTIONS, SETTINGS, MEMORY, PHONE AND SIM, IMPORT CONTACTS, GMAIL and follow the prompts. If you are moving from a basic phone (older models), you have to export the contacts to your sim on the old phone and then transfer the sim to the Nokia flip phone and select in memory either SIM, or PHONE AND SIM. If you are moving from an iPhone, you must first set up a Google account to that iPhone and synchronize your contacts, then use that Google account to pull up the contacts on the Nokia flip phone, as the flip phone cannot connect to iCloud. Newer phones no longer allow you to store contacts on the SIM. They expect you to either have a Google account for Android devices or an iCloud account for iPhones. The era of contacts in SIM cards is over, unfortunately. The good news is that if you lose your phone, you don't lose all of your precious contacts forever, as they are stored in your Google or iCloud account.
It will not let me use it without a PUK and new SIM code? I cannot use it and have no idea what the code is or what a Code for a sim is? I got 2 chances left. I have tried the receipt number and am thinking I have a bad device. I have gone 3 weeks without a phone. Needed to call my Doctor and havebeen waiting patiently for it to maybe take on a new connection..... NADA! =(
The price went down a little. Now it's $19.88. Here is the link: www.walmart.com/ip/Tracfone-Nokia-2760-Flip-4GB-Black-Prepaid-Feature-Phone-Locked-to-Tracfone-Wireless/721170509?athbdg=L1102&adsRedirect=true
Do anybody want to accept Jesus christ as your savior he want to give you love peace and happiness and salvation and eternal life if u confess your sins
up until last year, the minutes used to roll over, but now they no longer do. So use them up before they expire. if you don't want to be tracked, don't get a KaiOS account or hook up to WiFi. video is far too long
I skipped through this review a few times, but I just want to know 2 things. One, does the caller's name (or number) show on the external screen when the phone is ringing? And two, the info in the white circle inside the cover of the packaging seems to indicate triple minutes, yet the outside of the packaging does not brag about this HUGELY IMPORTANT feature. Does this phone triple the minutes you purchase? I know Tracfone has been getting away from double minutes and triple minutes, more and more.
Yes the small screen shows the callers name and number. Only number if it's not in your contacts. And no, you don't get triple minutes, you get double minutes. Triple minutes are for smartphones only.
Go to Settings / Network & Connectivity / Wi-Fi / and click on "On". Then go to "Available Networks" and select your WiFi network. Click on it and type your WIFI password. Once you do that, you will be connected to wifi. You may have to click on the pound key, #, to change the typing mode to enter the password more easily.

Thanks. I downloaded the update. Mine now has the flashlight.
@@skywind007 Yes that would be great. Just what this 89 year old senior really needs.
can you buy it, open the box, and start using it? how many minutes does it have?
No. You must activate the phone and buy a service plan. Out of the box the phone will not make any calls and no texts. I wish they would give you something for free just for buying their phones, but oh well.
@@skywind007 thank you!
Excellent I think I will get this for my sister. Thanks sir:)
hello does this phone have a speaker phone............thankz
How do I get music on this phone?
I am from India. In india nokia only launch 2660 flip phone with its own os . Please compare nokia 2660 to nokia 2760 if its possible to you . 🇮🇳
Does the headphone jack have headphone and speaker? What size is the jack, 2.5, 3.5?
Thank you for asking. I forgot to mention that. It has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. As far as speaker, yes it does. The headphone jack is a combination of headphone and mic. If you insert a headphone set that has a mic on it, you will be able to hear out of it and speak at the same time. I do a demo on this at 44:23.
@@skywind007 Thanks for your comprehensive answer and for the great job you are doing.
Does this phone have hotspot?
Cool phone, great video. Thanks
You should show what KEYSyou were pressing to TEXT BBC --instead of just showing the SCREEN (while you were hitting keys
I cant get it to activate. I have been trying all day. Multiple techs. Like 5 to be exactly. It says phone number unknown.
Did you need to sign into Google upon setup?
No. You don't have to sign into Google to setup or use this phone.
you didn't show how to bring up the apps
Are you able to use android auto with this phone? I hate smart phones but I do need the gps lol
I took a look at it right now, and my best estimate is: more than a second but less than two seconds. So 1.5 seconds would be a fair approximation.
It’s not that hard to figure out
@@Zenguy89 Depends. Very hard for this 89 year old to figure out. And the 99 page manual is no help.
$20 is a good deal :)
$19.88 to be precise, but that is before tax.
@@skywind007 I think they should round it to the next dollar
I bet in 8yrs no one's going to care about social media, or is will get worse.
Somebody gave me one of these but didn't include any manuals. What I need to know is how to get the notices and voicemails. Why don't people include such minor but important information?
It's the same for voicemail just as any other phone, press and hold 1
Thank you for your tutorial !!! Very appreciated ....
Basic question does it have speech to text?
No, it does not. Only the Alcatel MyFlip 2 has. I reviewed the Alcatel MyFlip 2 here: ua-cam.com/video/R2v3Q2AjHCc/v-deo.html
very detailed and useful video! thank you
Do you think it could get unlocked for other services like T-Mobile after 60 days with Tracphone?
@@skywind007 how can I check if I live in an area with Verizon ?
How to use GR reader
How do I find this phone if I forget it somewhere. Does it have it find my phone feature?
This is the first time he even seen this device and is just
learning as about it NOW !
T9 T9 T9, geesh. that is the fastest form of texting on these (very akin to swipe). Yes it takes a little (very little) practice but after a few hours you can blow up phones with your texting skill. TAP TAP TAP,... is like 1990+ when T9 did not exist.
How do you transfer numbers from another phone to this one?
@@skywind007 thank you!
Is this phone unlocked? Can I use another international carrier?
It is locked to TracFone. It will not work with international carriers.
NADA! =(
When I activated mine, it didn't ask me for a PUK. You should call Tracfone at 1-226-476-1578.
God why are you going through every game when what I need to know are higher level things like does it have maps?
Can you use emojis while texting?
No.
How much minutes and data does it come with
ZERO minutes and ZERO data. You have to buy a service plan when you activate it.
How do you turn off the screen reader
so this tracfone version of the 2760 costs $20 while the non-tracfone version is about $64. something sus about this 🤔
The price went down a little. Now it's $19.88. Here is the link: www.walmart.com/ip/Tracfone-Nokia-2760-Flip-4GB-Black-Prepaid-Feature-Phone-Locked-to-Tracfone-Wireless/721170509?athbdg=L1102&adsRedirect=true

How do you disable T9 and add contacts.
Sorry I haven't responded. I was at work. Use the # key to toggle between the input methods when typing.
Obviously you did find a flashlight you just go to camera and turn flash on
up until last year, the minutes used to roll over, but now they no longer do. So use them up before they expire.
if you don't want to be tracked, don't get a KaiOS account or hook up to WiFi.
video is far too long
So much complaining
Please show which BUTTONS to click...
I bought it today and ready to put it a garbage- description came with phone is horrible!!!!!
I need the same classical phone with dual sim. Can you show me
CENTER BUTTON CALLED ---- MULTI CONTROL BUTTON /// NOW HOW TO INSTALL A SD CARD ?
How to connect to wifi?
Go to Settings / Network & Connectivity / Wi-Fi / and click on "On". Then go to "Available Networks" and select your WiFi network. Click on it and type your WIFI password. Once you do that, you will be connected to wifi. You may have to click on the pound key, #, to change the typing mode to enter the password more easily.
