I am just starting a paper money collection. I have only purchased PMG graded notes so far. I appreciate any information I can get on currency collecting and grading. Thanks! 😀👍

I always use PMG. I have been thinning out the notes that are lower grade raw and selling on e-bay. Notes will only get worse with handing over the years so grading helps to protect from this and it also offers a pretty sound degree of certainty when the time comes to sell, re authenticity and preservation.

I collect paper money, mostly raw notes.I do have a few graded, all PMG.I have some large notes, small, confederate, obsolete, and some old world notes. If you do your research, you can find very nice affordable raw notes. There is a small circle of paper currency collectors on YT,and it's nice to see more vids on them. There is one currency grading company you didn't mention, Legacy. Good vid bro

I have inherited 3 1899 $1 Silver certificates in consecutive order. Would you recommend grading them or just keep them as is? They have great color and sharp corners. That’s all I really know. If you could offer insight I’d appreciate it.

Yes, I would send them off for grading. I personally prefer pmg over the others.

As of 5 years ago pcgs grading would have access to pmg records and they would check toi see if you had already had your note graded and would give you the same grade as the other company if you cut it out of their holder. They would check by the type of note and serial number. We sent many notes to try to get crossovers and not one note was changed in grade. Total bs in our opinion.

What are you thoughts on Legacy Currency grading? Is Legacy the ANACS of the paper money world?

I am PMG guy all the way. I don't one bit like the PCGS paper money organization and what they did to MANY collectors when the sell off occurred. There was people who sent there note in, they charged them for it, and their notes sat for MONTHS ( I believe even years) while waiting the fate of the company. Poor business if you ask me about it. I also appreciate the tough standards PMG has displayed currently. As they always say, buy the note not the holder!

I know nothing about money. I'm pushing 80 now and if I would have known some of the money I had when I was younger would have been worth more. I would have put away the crisp ones I ran into in my youth. But sorry to say I didn't have a crystal ball and I didn't make the right decisions and just spent them. You talk about the different rating services. It would be nice if you were to emphasize what the difference is between the different grading numbers. Thank you for your time. I’ve yet to see a good one. I know the greysheet makes a “green sheet”- it’s okay- but lots of stuff is overpriced

Yes I collect paper money but unlike you I only buy graded notes because I am not going to pay a significant amount of money for a note that is probably counterfeit. And how can I sell a note that may be a counterfeit? So I feel more comfortable with graded notes. I dont buy PCGS graded notes though because the new company (Collectors Universe) doesn't stand behind PCGS notes that were graded before they took control so if you buy an old PCGS graded note, apparently you will need to submit it, not sure. Also I have been unable to verify the older PCGS notes or look up the population reports. So for now Im sticking with PMG.

Hello. Nice video. I am new here. Just wondering what happens to my old pcgs graded money 💰. Is it still considered good at its grade? Or there making people crossover? To expensive, is worth saving
