Shane is the best western ever made. The only weakness is Alan Ladd, playing a clean cut, all American, don't forget to clean your teeth kids, type character.Had he played Shane as an anti hero gunslinger, the movie would have been perfect.
SHANE was actually filmed in 1951, but due to a long post production period, wasn’t released until August, 1953. This means that BRANDON DE WILDE was actually nine years old when he made the film, not eleven. The ages you give for the other performers when they made the film are also out of date by two years.
One of the great westerns ladd is loyal and mysrerious. Helin stubbon and tough palance is totally menacing arthur is kind and appealing. De wilde cute kid meyer plain greedy johnson. A man can see the light. Great film
Shane is the best western for me and one of the best of all movies. I appreciate this but Marion Starrett was married to Joe Starrett and therefor was not a widow or single mother. Ben Johnson was the real deal. He started out as a cowboy and played those characters very well. One year he won the team roping in the PRCA. I always liked him in movies. All the actors have passed away but we can still see this outstanding movie. Technology is wonderful!
You state that Ben Johnson worked for Starett. Not true. He worked for the bad guys, until one evening, plauged by remorse about the way the ranchers are being treated, he left & came to Shane to warn him not to let Starett go into town to negotiate with the bad guys because it was a trap, & then he departed for points far away.
Gene/Jean Arthur was 53 years-old in 1953!! Can you believe it? Thinking about what the typical 53 year-old woman looks like now, Jean was stunning and gorgeous by comparison.
Wow! Jean Arthur was 53 when she made the film! She was still hot! You said her character was a widow, but didn't Van Heflin play her husband, Joe Starrett? Up to now, I've heard Brandon deWilde pronounced as "da-WIL-da."
One of the greatest westerns.👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Shane:The best best western movie ever with the best actors &The best music.
The original Magnificent Seven with Bryner, McQueen and Bronson is my favorite western, not this one.
Well, the 'Best Ever' choices are solely a matter of ones individual likes and dislikes! If it were no so - All movies would be the Dull Same !
Just might be the greatest Western Movie of all time , without a doubt !!!!

Great film, but the best ever Western is One Eyed Jacks with Brando and Karl Malden.
Woody Allen said that Shane was up there not just in the Western genre, but could hold it's own against any film ever made.
! @petermcculloch4933 --- Alan Ladd was Not a 'Weakness' but a Perfect counterpart to Jack Palance !
@@petermcculloch4933 Alan Ladd was perfectly cast by a great director!
It was good film to watch Allan ladd he was great actor
Thank you for the memories and may god bless those who are still alive and they are going to be missed very much
I saw "then" photos, but I didn't see any "now" photos, as they are all dead. What's the point of the title?

He was the bad guy
De las mejores películas del viejo oeste de usa. Raíces profundas.
Practically speaking, there is no “now” for a single one of these actors.
A lot of those great actors died at a very yount age including Allan ladd and Brandan de wilde
Check your spelling.

The narrator’s descriptions of some of the characters indicates he never saw the movie.
Jack Pallance was great as the bad guy "Wilson" in Shane . Wilson was the kind of guy you just love to hate .
Calloway doesn't work for Joe Starrett.
If you had seen the movie, you would know that the surname Starett is stressed on the first, not the second syllable"
I think it's a Robot voice.
The first verse of Gram Parson's, In My Hour Of Darkness, is about Brandon De Wilde's death.
THIS GUY IS VERY CONFUSED CALLAWAY WORKS FOR RIKER
Shane was shot in 1951, but released in 1953.

That is not Jean Arthur in the photo of the older woman.
There are some real inaccuracies in this review. Great movie but the narrator is not.

THIS GUY IS MAKING CRAP UP THATS NOT IN THE MOVIE

I wonder what movie this turkey was actually watching?
I never saw this movie . I was to young. Little girl!!😂
Well, You can watch it now !
I Think you have Jean Arthur’s birthday is wrong she was 90 if she was born in 1953and died in 1991. Was he like 4 in the movie?
you talk like her husband is dead but he is very much alive and living her and joey and ben johnson works for the bad guys
I don't know where you got the "Plot" you narrated but Marion was married to Joe Starrett ;she was NOT a single parent.
dude have you ever watched this movie if you gonna do this get it right ok
Brandon de Wilde's surname is pronounced de Willduh.
Wow! Jean Arthur was 53 when she made the film! She was still hot!

First minutes and it says she's a widow. Watch the movie for crying out loud!
Great movie. I stumbled across it on tv when I was a kid & I was transfixed. I’m certain it had effect on me on what it means to be a man
Brandon died in 1970. At,,,,30,,,(????) ( Horrible death.)
Nossa😢😢
Elisha Cook Jr. His first name is pronounced as the prophet in the Bible, not as a girl's name!
I’ve been watching this for twenty seconds and it’s so full of mistakes that I gotta punch out
Thumbnail is bullshit click-bait.
The commentator must have gotten his information from Joe Biden when researching this movie.
Brandon DeWilde name was pronounced Dee Will Duh. This is all shit.
Very hard to watch this with so many mistakes.
True, but then no-one is Perfect !
Now all skeletons!
