- When talking normally, Mark Asari stammers, but as soon as he starts singing that all disappears. So it makes sense for Mark to sing all the time and he's no stranger to singing. Even before entering The Voice Stage, he appeared on the Fifty Shades Darker original soundtrack and supported Jessie J on one of her UK tours. He was even part of a band called Encore. Oh god, why am I crying. This is touching, I have a disability and growing up, it was hard to make friends. Due to this disability, I didn’t learn to read until I was 13 and at 23, I graduated top of my nursing class and passed nclex, a month after graduation.

My nephew stutters and its quite noticeable especially when he is anxious. And he talks Very fast but then the stutter is more pronounced, so whenever he talks to me or am around, I lift my index finger and immediately he takes a deep breath and starts to talk slower. I have no idea why but I find it actually helps lessen the stutter and calms him down a bit. He has mastered it, whenever he gets anxious I notice he raises his own index finger and take deep breaths then he speaks. I have no idea why or how it works but for him it does. I guess one has to find what works for them and use that to communicate, and yes singing and animals I have found it works.

I use to stutter when I was a child, my Jamaican great-grandmother told me that when the words can't come out that I should stamp my foot...sounds crazy/weird/silly...I know. It worked though. I even forgot that I use to stutter until a few years ago.

I didn't dislike it nore liked it either, but the fact is that craig david has such a unique voice and he's one of a few singers that is really hard to cover because of that. From all the covers i've heard (of craig david) there's is barely a few that are good. So People who disliked might not have disliked the guy but just the song that doesn't give him justice

You have to embrace your disability, i use to get upset because I use to get tease by some of friends and classmates due to my stuttering back in high school,can't let your disability be your clutch...people going to love or like you for you

This is a good example of demonstrating how we use different parts of our brains for speaking vs singing. So even though you may stutter when speaking, you can sing without a stutter. It's also been seen in some stroke patients that have lost their ability to talk but are still able to sing. The brain is fascinating.

Country singer Mel Tillis had this prblm too..no one knew for years..
When Randy Travis the older county music singer and artist, after he had that stroke he later came back on stage with his wife and although he couldn't sing the whole song he still sang a part of the verse. So he is probably still working on it because he did have a major stroke. It's amazing how they can sing even though they stutter and all, i think it's amazing. He had a very great voice.

I show this to my daughter on a regular basis she is 8yrs old and has a stutter and it’s been bothering her lately. And I tell her she is absolutely perfect and she loves singing and I show her this to encourage her. His story is beautiful.

I am in a nursing field right now its 330am my patients are asleep I've been stuttering since I could talk I'm 33 years old this really touch my spirit and I'm crying right now because I can't imagine going on TV talking to millions of people granted mine is just mild but I still have my moments this has made me so proud so many of us have stuttering problems or speech impediments if you will and it's an everyday struggle that fluent speaking people will never understand this really bless my soul

My Dad stuttered his whole life & was also the lead singer & drummer of his band who is retired now, but growing up I loved hearing him sing, his stutter would go away completely, he'd sing at work all the time. I stuttered bad when I was younger, but as I grew older I picked up singing, which I love to do & I do not stutter anymore 😊 so I can totally relate to Mark👍❤

I've had a stuttering problem my whole life and although I can't carry a tune, singing does help get certain words out. It's strange how that works but it's also calming to the soul. Good luck Mark!
Me too! I'm 29 now and when I was younger, I was so self conscious. I freaking hated popcorn in class. Till this day, I still dont apply for certain jobs because of my stuttering problem.
@@amberbamber8509 I hated speech class in high school because of having to stand in front of everyone and talk. Mine has gotten better but I still often struggle when trying to say certain words. I hope you can find a way to make life easier with this problem. I know it's not easy and there's no permanent solution. Thanks for sharing.

I have seen it a number of times on the Voice how the coaches are very compassionate with singers who have speech promblems or blindness. We need more of that in the world with help people with compassion who have handicaps.

My daughter developed a severe stutter when she was 5 and was teased mercilessly all throughout school. She is now 26 and some adults still say uncalled for rude remarks. But she is a smart, loving, strong woman today! Everytime I see someone who has a speech impediment overcome their adversities I feel so proud as if they are my child. Btw my daughter was in choir and loved it because she did stutter when she sang.

Children are precious and stuttering doesn't make them any different, they're still beautiful amazing children. It can be fixed even at the schools with a speech therapist back in the day anyways. Because i knew a little girl who went to the same school as my daughters when they were in school and i knew some of the parents. Her mom put her in speech therapy for a year and no charge to the parents, and the child didn't ever stutter again. I'm sure every case is different but I'm sure that their are many ways to work with these children and people. But either way they're special snd normal like us so they are amazing regardless.

@@zion6184 I'm sorry for you and my oldest daughter which is 28 and will be 29 years old this year wow has time flown by but anyways she got it by her biological father who she wasn't raised by but he had the worst stuttering habit and in kindergarten she did it slightly enough were they suggested putting her in speech therapy for a year and this was at school and whatever they did that child didn't stutter again when they put her in speech therapy for a year. Till this day i can see if she really gets excited she states to do it but not really anymore the older she got. But I'm assuming that everyone is different but that doesn't make them any less smart because my daughter was a book genius i was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and all my grandbabies so everyone is different and there isint anything wrong with that.
