Great Job!
Hey sacrow I have to ask, which one/ones from the iceberg you were scared of? Mine was either mereana mordegard glesgorv or Cursed images.
Zooming in on Jeff's face is definitely one of the transitions of all time. I had never been jumpscared so many times in a single day.
When Sacrow said its jeffin' time and jumpscared all over the comment section! Truly the moment of time!
Timestamp????
Not scary I've seen it so much when I was too young 😂
@@Spiritbomb88 on every transition between images, he shows some of the classic creepy pictures with the last one shown being Jeff, and he zooms in on it every single time. By no means is it a screamer, but I had the video playing on the side, so every time I looked over after an explanation ended, Jeff was there.
@@ZerothVeratross that was a joke...
I love how JPEG was decided to be the most scary image format when these stories were written
JPEG implies it's a picture, as it is to this day, widely used by digital cameras while most other popular formats (.png, .bmp, .svg, .gif, etc.) are generally used for digital artwork.

it is the scariest. that compression is no joke
"I have an irrational fear of being watched from a window," HONEY THAT IS NOT IRRATIONAL
The irritational part isn’t being watched, it’s _expecting_ to be watched. The Portraits story is probably the root of that fear for me, too. If there’s an uncovered window in a house I’m in at night, especially if I’m alone, it will set my anxiety off just by existing.
For me having it covered is even scarier than having it uncovered. Idk why. It’s the same thing with doors, when they are closed, open, or just cracked open, they give me that same fear.
People love to pretend that they are somehow unique and special by having completely normal fears. See: thalassophobia, trypophobia, etc...
@@MikeThePika because if you cover it you dont know what is happening outside, but if you do levae it uncovered you will have to face it being discomforted from something literally looking at you
I'm watching you now 😁
"One school day a boy named tom was sitting in class doing maths"
This is the best short horror story ive ever read, sends shivers down my spine!

I literally starting crying when I heard that. So scary 😱
A dude I went to school with managed to jumpscare himself in class one day because he heard people talking about Jeff and got curious and looked him up. He obviously did not expect the image he saw. I could not blame him. I sat there like bitch me too.
Best comment right here 😂

Cursed images will forever remain my favorite genre (sub-genre?) of creepypasta. Its something that's only gotten more relevant as our world becomes more intertwined with social media
I feel like it's its own genre because there's so many of them but I agree with you cursed images will forever stay in my heart
I just love seeing what disturbing images people come up with. Sometimes you can make your own story based on the image.
WHAT CURSE IMAGE RONALD BONER 2
SPEED RUNES FOR MY
I was traumatized in my preteens by the 'peak' of early internet evils (2006-2008) - it was anything goes, especially the porn + gore.
All those days of trying to watch cute animal videos after school but basically any video website that wasnt YT was absolutely unhinged with porn banner ads/pop ups and everyone is linking shock videos/jump scares/virus links.
I think I was maybe 11 or 12 when the shock porn fad went around, I was wayy too young for shit like 2G1C/Blue Waffle/lemon party/etc.
So when I came across Creepypastas, it was thrilling and most of the cursed images would leave a stain on my brain for weeks.
Smile Dog was the worst one for me, but it wasn't the original husky/window - it was that super saturated, red/orange dog face with a bloody snout + oversized human teeth. I could taste blood in my mouth after looking at it. I clicked away because it freaked me out, but I was SO freaked out that I had to click on it again and read the story with it (which wasnt the original one either, there was definitley two major versions of Smile.jpg) then I showed my 8 yr old brother and he immediately ran out of the room crying - his reaction made me more scared of Smile Dog + also realized I was being a jerk, I'll never forget that.
But as I got older, more desensitized, and less gullible - I was morbidly curious and I'd intentionally go to parts of the Internet just to scare myself. 15 or 16, I revisited my 'shock vid' days and ended up digging through real gore and all the edgy shock subreddits. Because Creepypasta stopped being creepy.
Even now, it still gives me the chills but all these cursed image Creepypastas look even more fake/photoshopped now in 2023.
Now, nobody will fall for even the most convincing 'fake' picture because now its "oh thats definitely AI art, look at the fingers" or they can just reverse search it and immediately find out the context - but in 2008, not many people had access to advanced image editing so the cursed images that did come out of that could seriously deliver a lot of spooks. I learned to edit pics a few years too late, otherwise I'd have tried to join the game (but I did go to town making memes). And there was so much anonymity you couldn't fact check or find sources for most of them. It was more open ended than ever.
You cant even post a video of someone vomiting cinnamon or lighting their farts on fire now without being demonetized or shadowbanned.
cool profile picture
I hate how the Backrooms was ruined
Yep - even one or two entities would be fine, but the presence of all those random monsters ruins the actual liminal fear that it originally had: that feeling of utter isolation and being lost
@pixxeldust I like the idea of it being this huge, spawling, desolate maze where there's just a single entity that could be 100 miles away or right around the next corner. At any moment you could run right into it.
Like how soldiers often get more scared in the time waiting for the fighting to start rather than the fight itself.
@@camerontaylor9894i like the huge amounts of entitys but i can understand how it could be aggravating but liminal space images and backrooms are now different things
Back rooms was never good imo. Reads like a parody concept to me. It’s a funny post but not really anything scary.
@@vadernation1233 I actually thought so too, but the initial concept was still kinda morbid, when you put some thought into it
Imagine taking a wrong step and falling into some messed up subworld for it, slowly starving to death in endless hallways, that's just a horrible thought
Seeing that be turned into content for toddlers is kinda offputting to me ngl
I've always wanted someone to do a real-life survey on "This Man", and and see if there's a difference in emotional reactions based on whether the person had grown up watching Mr. Bean.
I had also completely forgotten Mariana Mordegard Glesgorv... I never found that one scary as a kid, but the whole subplot about people mailing their eyeballs to UA-cam headquarters was hilarious actually. It reads like the B-movie version of a mass protest against UA-cam guidelines. What an amazing nostalgia trip
Also, I love that you just keep leading into entries with Jeff The Killer. It's like free exposure therapy for everybody's inner 12 year old.
This Man would be interesting to have a survey on, because I now have students that know of him and swear they've seen him
It was an xfiles thing. He’s in the background of that season a bunch of
Anomaly being like "Dead people, dead people, mysterious entity that killed people, dead people, torment, Funny uncle coming back to have one last laugh with the fam, disappeared people, dead people" is like so inadvertently (?) funny

Not entirely related, but the art of Trevor Henderson is definitely some of my favorite. The man with the upside down face still gives me the heebie jeebies

The works of Eduardo Valdes-Hevia are absolutely amazing if you haven’t already heard about him, I think he’s done a few collaborations with Henderson.
I especially like his work about “long horse”

That Jeff image has been haunting me for YEARS til this day 😭 I remember playing little big planet with a few "friends" and they wanted to decorate a room. They wanted to surprise me and when I looked back at the screen, they had covered all the walls with Jeff's face and I started crying 😭
That was me with m0m0
The reveal at the end of "The Portraits" gave me some of the best goosebumps of my life when i first came across that story
Probably enhanced by the fact that I have the same fear that you described. I think it falls under the category of Scopophobia

Theres something to paintings and portraits u always believe theres many pairs of eyes watching your every move.
Somber saying "who I think I might be developing a little crush on" at 2:07:07 absolutely killed me
also why tf did bro say "why dont they smile, is it illegal?"
no, the pics took like a long time to develop
@piss not even just that. As pictures became quicker to take, they still didn't smile because they thought it was a serious tradition that people in the future would be seeing, smiling in pictures was uncommon due to that. One of the first, if not THE first smiling picture was of a man in rural China who did not know what the proper etiquette was to take a picture, so he decided to smile and strike a pose.
She’s pretty
@@IceNineThrillsand he’s the first happy man to be depicted in history /hj
TBH I still don't get what was supposed to be creepy about that story. Is it that the subjects were dead? That wasn't an uncommon practice back then
Cursed images type of creepypastas are only ones that managed to make me scared when i was just a kid, now some of them just cause a bit of nostalgia

Seeing all the classic creepypasta pictures gives me a weird sense of nostalgia and comfort. Like damn, I read fanfics about these freaks, wild.
Slenderman wasn't made for a contest, it was a thread that was just for creating and posting paranormal images. When Victor Surge created the Slenderman image, it ended up being incredibly popular and people kept making their own Slenderman images so the thread just devolved into that until people lost interest.
It was a spooky image photoshop contest on somethingawful lol the description is still accurate
After hearing the original Backrooms text again, I wonder what would happen if one noclipped out of reality in a "right" area? That would be an interesting concept to explore
As long as the name is something cooler than the Frontrooms
You end up no clipping into the reality where everything's goes right for you
@@clowntown3 nah it would be reality where war and conflict dont exsist and every terrorist attack never happened (Yes even 9/11)

I have an idea. When a child tells you that there’s a monster in there room. Don’t say that monster’s aren’t real or anything like that. Instead act like you believe a monster is in there room. Then go inside the child’s room and just start whooping a random object with a belt. Then tell the kid you whooped the monster and it’s too scared to come back.
Ever seen Major Payne?
They would normally just hit me.

2:19:22 Do you see it too? If you look completely to the right with the bushes you can see a ghost face that looks like the mandela catalogue character "the preacher". Beside the white lightpost to the right you could see a small cartoon face. By the preacher you could also find the Half Life Alyx logo or if you look a little up in the middle by the side of the building you could see a face that looks like Paranthropus boisei, a type of homosapien (I think). There is one more that is really hard to find which is the tree to the right with a 2 eyes and a tongue sticking out. Could also be a dog. Lastly, I think they we're meaning the second tree to the left that looks like a tall man with one arm. EDIT: Just saw the skull with eyes on the top right on the tree to the right.
Thanks man I didn't see anything until I saw this comment

I always thought Zalgo corrupted actual living beings and it just so happened that most of the media depicting it were characters in comics. I didn't realize that it was just a mere comic/image corrupting entity. That made it way less scary than I initially thought it was.
You’re not the only one who’s consistently freaked out over Jeff’s photo.

It almost feels like it's been carefully crafted to bring out some instinctual reaction in you. How near the face is, the human, yet mutilated face, and the contrast between the figure and everything else. It's kind of like staring into the eyes of a predator moments before you're killed.

Funnily enough, the image of the monster from the Moon story is actually a screenshot from the hilariously terrible found-footage horror movie Apollo 18. It's about astronauts going to the moon and being slowly killed off by...
...sentient moon rocks with spider legs
I was gonna mention how I couldn’t take the story seriously after seeing the Apollo 18 screenshot
The movie could have been done so much better. The premises of creatures hiding in moon rock as shells is cool.
Spiders on the moon… that never goes well.

Smile Dog is such an enigma to me. I remember there was an original, and 'censored' version. The censored version is the one that is very common, but I remember looking up the original and something about it unnerved me so much.
Tried looking for it a few weeks ago. Either the original one is gone, or its no where near as bad as I recall.

the goofy ass transitions have genuinely been enough to desensitize me to the jeff the killer image. like i was still having to cover my screen every time i saw it until now 😭 /pos

Is it weird that The Backrooms make me feel more nostalgic and happy than scared?
@@whotooksimon this is what exactly the backrooms isn't meant for, its not meant for a sense of calm or a happiness, the original purpose of the backrooms (imagine JUST level 1) was meant to be a feeling of deja vu and a feeling of being scared, being alone and not knowing where people are and just wandering by themselves.
I mean, it‘s a collection of liminal spaces that are pretty much completely meaningless or empty.

The new cellphone photo definitely spooked me, any story that brings in mundane elements like everyday objects, being at home, sleeping, or being at school are the creepiest!
Short horror stories like "The girl in the photograph", "The portraits" and the novel "The Yellow Wallpaper" are probably my favorite as there really isn't much in terms of disturbing or haunting about them until the last sentence.
"This Man" Has a movie coming out, finally! With freaking NICK CAGE.
Honestly, I love this trip down memory lane. The older creepypastas used to scare me as a child.
The magic behind good creepypastas is rather simple in theory with two foundational blocks:
First, the story should be something one would/could post on a throwaway account. Makes it more believable and, hence, way creepier.
Second, the more relatable, the stronger the effect of a given story.
Not a lot of people would relate to a haunted mansion type scenario. But a shadow in the corner of your eye cast by creepy object no.#1893072 is gonna have some effect on the reader for sure.
This includes creepy pictures that haunt you in your mind.
i disagree with the first thing. i think posting a story on an existing active account makes it more believable
bro how tf font you have any more subscribers? you deserve way more! keep up with the great content.
Great compilation. Love all of these, despite having heard these stories billions of times by now.
Got a question - what is the music name you use during transition between pastas with Jeff's face zoom (piano)?
Myuu - disintegrating
That hallway shot at 41:45 with the flickering light is wicked liminal and I love it.
does it make you horny
The story satellite images is based on the Stephen King story called “The Sun Dog” look it up. It’s about a kid who gets a Polaroid camera and as he takes pictures it’s the same image of a dog and a fence and as each picture is taken the creature prepares to attack the one taking the photo..
I remember getting really scared by many of these images as a child, so I took a deep dive into horror and forcibly desensitized myself to it. The only fears I haven't shaken yet are falling, small venomous stinging/biting animals, and being totally alone.
UA-cam autoplayed this vid after I fell asleep since I’m subscribed to you. I started to hear your voice talking about the images in my dream so I woke up. Once I did and put my glasses on to figure out wtf I was listening to, I get jumpscared by the Jeff the Killer image. 😅
I remember when I was younger and first seeing the classic Jeff picture, and to this day it gives me chills. Something about it is just so off putting, It's really hard for me to explain but just the way it was photoshopped and created always gives me the spooks haha. I really love this iceberg video about a bunch of the image based creepypastas, I get so much nostalgia from all the classic pastas and intrigue from all the ones I'm not familiar with.
Its the eyes for me the rest feels humanlike but the eyes tell you something is off well thats just me tho
Then fucker doesn't have a nose so his face is just full on flat
wow i hit the jackpot finding this vid, thank you for taking the time to create this , and the other vids you have uploaded omg i fucking love cursed images thank youuuu
After watching the whole vid, tonight all these creepypastas are gonna have a collab in my dreams.
I always just assumed that the origin of the smile dog image was that it was just a heavily edited pic of the author's dog.
Ironically enough
Smile Dog creepypasta helped me realise I have aphantasia. I was like: Wait?? People see images in their head???? Huh?????!
I have the opposite. I literally can't fathom not thinking in images and the like?
@@mariawhite7337 hey same!
Ikr
It hurts my brain trying to fathom it
@@meggubravo8373 so do you think in words or something else?
@@retiredmushroomI just talk to myself (too much)
It’s fun to see how many people down here are recalling how damn scary some of these stories were because they were written by 12 year olds for 12 year olds and they were 12 at the time. I remember getting seriously freaked out by Jeff the Killer as a kid then when I heard it as an adult I was like… wow. That was scary?
Further adding, the image accompanying Red Moon is directly taken from Apollo 18, it's a still frame of a motion scene where 2 astronauts on the moon are being hunted by insectoid creatures on the moon in a lost/recovered film style.
I remember seeing the trailer for that as a kid and thinking it was real
Bouta speedrun being cursed for eternity
'The Painting' really reminds me of this book called 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl and there's a story told by the main character's grandmother near the beginning about this girl who gets trapped in a painting of a farmhouse. her name was Solveg, and she was given an apple from a witch (the witches disguise themselves as young ladies) and then mysteriously disappeared into the painting. each day the painting changes as she lives her life: one day she could be feeding the ducks or be inside the farmhouse. years go by, and the girl gets older until one day she just disappears from the painting altogether, back to the way it was before she disappeared. it's a pretty chilling story and we never know what happened to her.
Omg I forgot about that part of the story :0 I remember listening to the audiobook of the Witches while going to sleep and I can still remember some of the haunting parts of it and being scared to sleep :’)
The concept of being trapped in a painting has always terrified/fascinated me. Thank you Mario 64
Yoo the witches was a banger
What a fantastic video. I am in my late 40s, but love creepypastas and SCPs. We never had anything like that in the 80s, just playing spotlight, holding seances and walking around abandoned houses. Check the camera and Aonomaly are the very best scary images I have ever seen.
Our version where called campfire stories back in the day or urban legends.i know some where printed in the news papers lol
Mf really had friggin seances for fun wtf
I actually really like the weird old woman baby being his sister (my first guess was illigitemete child). Abandonment of "deformed" babies was common in the old days and it's really sympathic of the monster.
i’m scared shitless already, jolly good video Sacrow
I remember writing a creepypasta when I was a kid, and it sucked lol I was proud of it when I wrote it, but looking back it was not the best thing I've ever written. It was about a dad bringing his daughter in after being in the snow all day. He bathed her, got her some hot chocolate, and made sure she was nice and warm before they headed to bed. She couldn't sleep, so she wanted to sleep in the dad's bed. In the middle of the night, he awoke in fear because he had no daughter. The ending was the little girl being found by someone on their doorstep with a pillow in her hand, crying and saying how cold she is.
Now that I'm an adult, it's obvious the wanting to write horror shit never left me, because I'm trying to write a comic with horror elements in it. I love scary stuff so much.
U should be proud, it's a good story . I don't find it creepy personally but I do think it's very sad and emotive, and I like it a lot
That sounds awesome
Heck yeah creepypasta/horror story comics. To practice comic paneling/pacing I used creepypastas. So if you need an artist 👀
Dude writes better than me
I actually really like the concept
Love your content keep up the great work
Fun fact, recently when i was in the Psych ward, one of the staffs (he didnt work in my unit i think he was a technition for lights or something) looked like the man from This Man, and everytime he came by, he filled be with dread and o felt so bad because he waa probably nice
Wait,,, why were you in the psych ward????
Tbh the "Teddy" image looks like a dog in a Teddy bear costume
Just as I sat down to eat! Let's gooo 3 hours of Sacrow content 😌
Edit: Am I the only one who gets reminded of the LYSSACEDROPHOBIATRASH track image from the Milwaukee Protocol album for the Teeth.jpeg one?
Your gonna eat for three hours?
@@dumbmemes7237 Hey you gosh darn nerd! Do you really think he would eat for 3 hours? Of course he would finish his meal at most 30 minutes in! The fun part for him was finding an video that would entertain him while he ate and still have alot left to watch afterwards.
@@dumbmemes7237 No, of course not. Watched the first 20ish minutes while eating than the rest while going on with the rest of my night
That resident evil music gives me nostalgia
Love the video! I know someordinarygamers has made a video on Jeff the Killer's original image not too long ago
Want you to know that I was taking a quick nap with this video playing on my iPad and when I turned over to look at the vid, I got jumpscared by the JTK image used in the transitions lmao
I have a fear of being watched from the window too. I had the same nightmare about it everyday for months, I live on the 5th floor so it made it absolutely frightening and ridiculous at the same time.
I recently drew Jeff the killer in a maid outfit from a dare and the image of him just makes me laugh now.
fell asleep listening to this and had a dream that i took a photo class but it had twisted games in it and my friend died from a staircase disappearing behind him making him fall to his death
just thought i’d share
I know this is a really minor detail, but I love this channel for the little intermediate music that happens in between each story. I don’t know why It just sets the vibe right for me
The cadence in your boice and the way you write your videos reminds me a lot of BlameitonJeorge. I love it so much. Keep up the great work!!
The Jeff transition made me laugh which is weird bc it scared me as a kid
20:13 I have this fear too. Especially at night, one time I took a picture out of my window at around 11:30 pm and I was so scared to check and see if anything I didnt want to see would be in it.
Jeff's image still gets me. I remember being 14, on my laptop doing some projects. I was trying to look something up and I guess the link someone sent me was a prank because it was just the Jeff The Killer image. I immediately started crying, and I was too scared to look at my screen to close it out and had to shut my laptop and let it die.
Great work, I love the ones that doesn't usually end up with the people viewing or knowing about the things dead, more confused or scared.
the classic transition jingle 👌
As a kid, I wouldn't be able to look at the smile dog imagine without becoming absolutely terrified. It was probably the only creelypasta image that genuinely horrified little me so much.
It's funny being able to stare at it now knowing how scary I thought it was.
Clicked on this by accident. Great video dude!
Very underatted channel, you deserve way more views
I love your choice of music! Great video!
What's the name of the piece?
I think a vital factor on why older creepypastas and urban myths were so scary is because they just happen out of the blue to completely innocent people, some family who moved to a house suddenly gets tormented by a really bored demon and people who just find things that aren't common that hold those curses.
This weird randomness is what mainly scared me, that it could happen if someone in my house brought something that they found somewhere and then wiping out everyone
In the victorian era, family photos with dead relatives was incredibly common
Smiledog’s origin is still unknown? I thought people already found the original images formed to make the two versions of smiledog
I also thought about this
Truly a "What The Dog Doin?" Moment.
as a kid smile dog used to scare me so bad i'd stay up all night paralyzed with fear, but as an adult i find him so cool looking i wanna get him tattooed someday lol :)
"......gouged out their eyes and mailed them....... " 😂
That tickles me every time
57:00 as an SCP nerd I just wanted to point out that the story is an SCP-esque take on Diogenes countering Plato’s definition of man as a featherless biped. Diogenes plucked a chicken, brought it to Plato and exclaimed “Look, I have brought you a man!”
Aw hell nah, whyd bro leave that girl painting one on for so long. I swear that shit changed for a moment and THEN he explains what the creepy pasta said about it changing
YESSSS let's go thanks for the long vid man
Hope you enjoyed it!
an L take here but Jeff looks like someone who would be named 'Kevin' and would shoplift regularly
good work on making this though sacrow! lets all just appreciate how much sacrow does for us for a moment. because he really is a legend and i dont think ill ever stop watching his content!
