i've always felt like mr widemouth is an amazing metaphor for the abusive/toxic friendships children sometimes experience

It never clicked with me until I actually experienced an abusive relationship
I’ve also heard one other way of thinking about it. Someone said it could be seen as a metaphor/commentary where children/people in general should listen to and obey authority figures, no matter what they say.

Fun Fact!
The author of "The Crawlspace" is a youtuber named Madame Macabre. She does music and occasionally reads creepypastas or tells scary stories from her life. The story is based on an actual apartment she stayed in during a study abroad in Rome that had an eerie crawlspace, although it doesn't go quite as bad in real life, of course. I believe the pictures attached are actual pictures she took before they all left.

So just wanted to share a bit more on the BOB story, I vaguely remember it originating from /x/ and it did give some more backstory.
BOB (acronym for Brutally Obscene Beast) was stalking the authors property for a good while. The author also had a dog who would alert him of when the creature showed up. This one time, the creature got close to the pooch and, well, "excreted a yellowish-green fluid" on him, which smelt like ammonia. The dog got sick and was sent to a relatives leaving the author alone worrying it would eventually break in. This is where the creepypasta picks up from.

Mr Widemouth was the first creepypasta I ever sat down and read and not just heard from someone else and for that reason it has a special place in my heart. The downside is that I think its like a top tier creepypasta and most things I read afterwards felt meh.

I wonder where the description of a Wendigo having a deer-like head originally came from, as I believe the original look of a Wendigo was something similar to the ones we see in the game Until Dawn. A gaunt human, with pale white skin, and long spider-like limbs.

1:01:48 might feel like that, but people prefer to jump the stupid conclusion that "You are seeing things" "Your mind is playing tricks on you". Ultimately i think the author intended on this, to show off the consequences of being too skeptical and not wanting to take someone's claims seriously. The consequence for not paying heed to the warning? Its on the person who prefers to cast doubt rather than believe.

i feel like the crawlspace could be a bit better with just one difference. the friends don’t believe her because the entity has attached itself to the main character and vanishes around the others, leading the main character to believe she’s crazy until the final part where the friends go missing one by one staring with her roommate

I think the part of The Fleshgait where he speaks directly to the audience to explain what the Fleshgait does was completely unnecessary and honestly a little hand-hold-y. I picked these things up from just being told events, so when he then goes on to explain it to me as if I'm a second grader, I just lost all interest in the story.

Interesting beasties here, we've got some creepypasta classics, fascinating cultural lore, and other spooky surprises. I just hope you don't have people jumping on your ass for saying the words "wendigo" and "skinwalker" and whatnot. I know I've heard people getting onto others for not censoring it online because of some superstition that doing so summons them or something (I think? I could be misremembering), and I think people forget that the principle of "you can choose not to do something because of your religion but you can't force someone else to not do that thing because of your religion" applies to _all_ religions, not just the abrahamic ones. 9_9
There is a superstition about saying the word Wendigo outloud calling it to you (I don't know about Skinwalkers, I live in the great lakes region where the Wendigo originated, so I have more of an interest in it). While I wouldn’t get on anyone for saying it, for a lot of people it has more to do with respecting a culture that has already been bastardized and harmed by colonization and a near genocide. I have a lot of issues with the way wendigos are portrayed and used in modern media, though it would be hard to really talk about it if you don't use the names.
