That is a nice mod to help for standing. I sold my 2019 outback last Saturday and now I'm trying to decide on a 2020 Compass or a used 2018/19 used PA 12 with these guys jumping over for the 360. Merry Christmas!
I did this on an older Yak....If the Bar was longer, prob could have gone on the other set of mounting points and keep it away from the seat. I had PA rails and cut them down to length
Thanks for the video. How do you think these rails would impact self rescue? On the outback, it seems like the re-entry point is right where these lie, and they could impede re-entry. Also, with the seat in the low position, do you think the rails would be high enough to bump your elbows or interfere in other ways?
if anything I think they would help with reentry as it would give you a better spot to pull up with. As far as the seat it has not been effected at all.
Yes and no. I didn’t regret it at first but after a few months I really missed the yak. Got the 2020 about a month ago. I was looking for a good deal on a 19 and couldn’t find one within a driving distance to make it worth it. Yea it’s the same red color as the 2019.
@@BlueSummitOutdoors I have the h-rail kit and am having Norva Plastics fabricate 3/4" spacers. The aluminum spacers from Boondox are round whereas the bottom of the H-rail mount is oval. I hope to pick up the spacers today or tomorrow and mount the rails. I bought stainless 1/4" 20 by 3" screws already. Hoping to get out tomorrow for some striper. Got a couple striper on Christmas Eve.
Hey question what type of water will you take this on I'm on the fence about getting this or the pro A14 for taking on the sound here in WA to drop some crab pots and troll for Salmon. Thank you
If you are torn between and Outback and a PA14 I’d definitely consider a PA12. It’s got all the features of a PA14 but the weight is closer to the Outback. If you want comfort and stability I’d definitely go with a PA plus it’s a dry boat. The Outback can be a very wet ride. The Outback is a little more versatile in my opinion because it also can be a great paddle yak for shallow water and rivers. Let me know if you have any questions as I’ve had all 3 kayaks before. Hope this helps.

Tough decision you got there. Merry Christmas!
Why u sold it?
Jarno. I wanted the kick up fins so got a 2020 Outback.
I think Brandon Barton was the first to do it. It should be called the Barton Hrail mod.
Does it make it awkward to reach the rudder handles?
No it doesn’t get in the way at all. They just sit so close to the seat that it doesn’t effect the rudder handles.

Yea I guess Hobie got the hint that people want hrails on their other kayaks haha
I'm putting a set on my Ascend 133x.

You think these could support weight as a standing/poling platform
I don't think so
I like this but storing and rooftopping it upside down is now not possible?
Yea i guess it would depend on the space between the roof rack or storage rack bars.
Did you have problems putting in the seat
Nope
When did you get the 2020? Do you regret selling me the 2019 is the same color?
