McLeod trade could be beginning of the end for Peyton Krebs

- The Sabres swung a trade for center Ryan McLeod on Friday, which will have a big impact on the Sabres depth chart. This is very true for Peyton Krebs, who Sneaky Joe believes could now be on the way out of Buffalo at the next opportunity.
What will Krebs' role be if still in Buffalo? How much could Kevyn Adams get for him in a trade? Joe also has a specific trade idea that could happen with Krebs going to the Flyers.

I would allow Ruff a chance to revive Krebs. There is definitely some talent there but there is something missing and maybe Lindy can get it out Peyton.
Please don't give up on Ryan Johnson
Love what rhey have done.. added toughness and speed. We will be very hard to olay against. Would be nice to add a Physical D man and still a top 6 forward. If we cant get that top 6 forward in a trade i can live with it for now.
Please do a future show on defensive pairings for 2024 -25 and I'm really confused about our goalie situation. UPK or Levi the future 1 tender between the pipes ?!?! Also who might stick around with us to develop and make the club and be around long term (if anyone) ? Scott Ratz, Topias and or Ryerson Lionoen
So did we give Krebbs the Tage Thompson or Casey Middlestat progression timeline or we just giving up on a guy that Granato dropped the ball on?
Greenway may be slow but not all goals are scored off the rush. At some point, the cycle game has to come into play. Greeny has a big body so he can shield the puck on the walls. He was also an effective penalty killer last season - he can find a place in this lineup despite all of the new editions.
Krebs sounds a lot like Mittlestadt three-four years ago. It will take him a little bit longer to find his legs. No reason to put the pressure of the Eichel trade on him. No reason to give up on him for a months' worth of 3rd line center duty. No first round draft pick gets the "18 games...that was his chance...and he blew it" assessment. Just give it a little rest, Joe, with the over the top language. I think he's quite competitive and he'll look at these new guys coming in and will work harder...that's the psychology of sports.
I don't see it in krebs, maybe Vegas did too in letting him go. Do any of the Rochester players have the grit we need when they come up ?
Love the Joel idea
I agree with your/listeners 4 lines and thats how i hope the Sabres will start the season .
Foerster-Couturier-Konecny
1 idea I had for a Krebs swap (in the future) would be the Seattle Kraken. I do see Yanni Gourde and Brandon Tanev are 2 guys expiring after the season….just an idea there.
For a while I thought we would be shopping for a top 6 forward, but now I think they may keep Peterka there, move Benson to 2nd line and use the signings/trades to fill in the rest. They could keep Krebs (unless there is a deal you can't pass up) as his QO was just under $900k. So its not much to remove. Sign him on a single year unless he can do 3 years at just under 1mil (so he can be traded off with a contract) if he cannot improve in this year.
Krebs will be the spare forward, he’s only 23 with limited top 6 experience. You don’t give up on that until the new coach gets his hands on Krebs at practice
Talking about Giving up on guys like Krebs and Greenway makes me revisit the Eichel trade. Tuch is fantastic, but other than that it doesn’t look too good right now. I never liked Krebs.
I think Krebs will hang on. Ruff will like him. Krebs has been used predominantly as a checker in Buffalo.
Farabee isn’t that good, but the contract would be good value.
I don't think Adam's would admit he made a mistake in the Eichel trade if he trades Krebs. I think it would be the nail in his coffin especially if they trade him and he takes off.
What about Jack Quinn?
