Hey, just found your channel. I'm a little bit lost here. I'm getting started into exotic leather boots and I don't know what to look for and what to avoid. I dont like leather with scales because it seems too fragile for my taste and I would simply trash the boots in a week, but most of the boots I am considering come only with exotic skins. So, how durable would you say Elephant and Shark skin are? I'm taking as a reference the durability of cow skin and deer skin. And How do I take care of those skins? BTW, I am a very active person who usually runs through a pair of boots in 1 year of less (daily use, weekly cleaning and conditioning).
hello. deer skin is very supple and I would say wouldn't be ideal for strenuous work. I've had snakeskin boots for 10+ years and as long as you condition them and keep dirt (and especially mud) away you should be fine. Elephant is a hard as nails skin that are very durable. By the way, for my deer skin I use mink oil conditioner and they look brand new as the day I purchased them.
Just bought a pair of shark skin and was told not to use anything on them other than a damp towel and a horse hair brush. dont want to ruin $600 pair of boots. I suppose its different from who makes them, was told with some passion, DO NOT USE ANY CONDITIONER just use damp cloth. If dirty mild dish soap.
I need to get me some shark skin boots!
How can I condition some exotic print boots is it the same process as some genuine ones??
yes... i recommend the scout cleaner ...
